|Wangan Midnight Expressway Forums > Automotive > What's your favourite car|
|Posted by: Midnight Star Feb 26 2008, 12:35 AM|
| Basically, simple as the thread's name. Post your favourite car, pics if you have any, or found any, and why you love this car. Any car from any era or manufacturer is welcome, from the Ford model T, to the Buggati Veyron. I'll start it off.
My favourite car is 1989 Nissan Silvia K's.
Why? It's got a sexy body, it's lightweight, and it's CA18DET engine puts out a good amount of power. Just enough to have fun. It's not a car you can break lap records in, but it's a car that just loves to have fun. That's what's really important. The CA18DET is stronger than bricks, it's not as light as the SR20, but it's basically an RB20 with 2 cylinders chopped off so it'll take a lot more abuse than the SR20. It's a car known for it's ability for getting sideways, but most of all, I like this car because of it's versatility. You can make this car into anything you want basically, the sky's the limit. You can make a road rally monster, or a drag racer, show pony, or a drift pig, whatever you feel like. There's so many parts available for this car it's not funny. That's why the humble S13 will always have a place in my heart.
|Posted by: Gies Feb 26 2008, 12:47 AM|
sorry to say it that way but thats bullshit! the ca18 is a weak engine because of many different things its not nearly as strong as any RB or the SR20(the Sr20 is actually heavier) maybe the head design is better and the iron block stronger but whats in the block just isnt.
Here in germany the RS13 only came with the CA18 finding one without engine failure or no 2nd engine or turbo is really hard and that doesnt really depent on the milage of the car.
Believe me you are better of with a sr20
|Posted by: Midnight Star Feb 26 2008, 01:08 AM|
|Ah, well it's a matter of opinion, I'm basing what I'm writing from tech sheets and magazines etc. I'm still saving up to buy my own one so I'll find out soon enough. The fact is though, coming back to the diversity of the S13, is that it's not uncommon for the CA18 to come out anyway. You can put all sorts of engines in an S13. RB engines being some of the most common swaps. But yeah, don't take what I say too seriously, I haven't had really enough time around engines to be an expert.|
|Posted by: Gies Feb 26 2008, 01:35 AM|
| no offense taken but one of the main problem of the ca18 is its crankshaft which isnt fully counterweighted it only has 1 counterwight for each cylinder making it revier but causing to much strain on the bearings, as far as i know there is also a problem with the oil supply which often results in a broken turbo (can be changed with the installation of new oil lines to the turbo)
(i could go deeper into the details but my english is not good enough i just dont know the right words to descirbe it)
I also just remembered a very old best motoring episode(or video option ? from the early 90ies) i saw on youtube in which they compared the stock 180sx and FC3s i think and other cars i cant remember anymore but what i still remember is that the ca18 180sx broke down in the test
i just tried to find the video but i couldnt find it, it was probably already removed
Edit: i totally forgot to mention that i like the s13 silvia pretty much to
but for me to pick a favorite car is totally impossible i just cant decide which one i like the most there are so many different cars i really like
|Posted by: skyblas Feb 26 2008, 06:09 AM|
| my favourite car would be the toyota supra mark 4
and the lancer evo3
|Posted by: Aoshi Feb 26 2008, 10:13 AM|
|My favorite FF car would have to be a Celica GTS with a yamaha block, though my AWD choice would be a Subaru 22B. FR wise, I'd probably go with a Lexus SC300.|
|Posted by: MonsterSupra Feb 26 2008, 01:23 PM|
| im into older generation cars just becuase of the wide variety of parts around.
my first project is a MT 1988 Chevy Camaro i-roc z. body/paint/rims/interior already came in custumized but i got it cheap because the whole internal (chassis, transmission, undercarriage, and everything) is original. so... it isnt running good. $$$ on prolly the whole engine lol
|Posted by: N643 Feb 26 2008, 01:40 PM|
|anything car that looks nice while 4 bikes i like the honda CBR series & ducatis|
|Posted by: Black President Feb 26 2008, 03:23 PM|
| BMW M3 Evolution-I (E36 S52B32)
Great Handling , 315hp , Coupe , SEXY !!
if you slaps something like Supercharger (Compressor) that give you 400hp - 420hp
if you installed new Exhaust&Mulffer, Air filters that give you 460 - 480hp
so .. BMW IS FERRARI KILLER !!
|Posted by: Globerunner513 Feb 26 2008, 04:29 PM|
| depends on the ferrari...lol
mine would probably be a Mazda Spirit R, and of course the Nissan 432R.
The FD, because of its great power/weight...and it's suspension design. The 432R because of the nostalgia, and because the entire car was a race purpose built car. Nothing wasted, and can still compete fairly competitively with modern cars.
|Posted by: Chaos Feb 27 2008, 02:32 AM|
| For old cars that would be the Fairlady Z S30
FF-cars: Integra Type R DC2
FR cars: ???
|Posted by: zerobass Feb 27 2008, 03:47 AM|
| Without doubt the Subaru Impreza has my vote.
Any generation will do fine with me.
|Posted by: MarcusFalden Feb 27 2008, 06:32 AM|
|My current car a Z4 maybe the M version but I am happy with my 3.0i|
|Posted by: suv_drift Feb 27 2008, 08:44 AM|
| I have some list but for:
FF - Integra Type R DC2
FR- 350Z (Z33)
AWD - R34
But my Trooper is a FR, so it likes to powerslide sometimes...... when I'm late to study, work, etc....
|Posted by: idiotech Feb 27 2008, 12:52 PM|
|There are just too many nice cars to choose from, but I have to say that this would be something.|
|Posted by: Nomake Wan Feb 28 2008, 03:08 AM|
| 1991 Subaru Legacy SS. I frickin love that car to death... it's light, nimble, and STi parts bolt into it. Plus everybody thinks it's a grandma car, which makes it a wonderful sleeper. I want my next car to be one. Oh yeah and I'm particular on the year for two reasons... for one, 1991 was the last year of the pre-facelift nose and tail (post-facelift makes it look like a Nissan Maxima), and for two, the '91 SS had a rear viscous LSD.
|Posted by: MidnightTitan Feb 28 2008, 06:49 AM|
|My favorite would definitaly be the Z. Pretty much any generation.|
|Posted by: nogard Feb 29 2008, 06:10 PM|
| all around favorite is the Miata
FR: Miata then the RX series
AWD: Subaru Impreza WRX STI (GCV)
|Posted by: Mr.K Z/28 Feb 29 2008, 07:09 PM|
| 82-92 camaro's
heres a pic of mine at a speedshop. i also like fc rx7's
|Posted by: tofu_boy86 Mar 4 2008, 07:44 PM|
| all around favorite is the AE86 Levin/Trueno
FF: anything honda makes
FR: MX-5 Roadster then the RX-7 series
AWD: Subaru Impreza and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
|Posted by: roxas3 Mar 7 2008, 10:54 PM|
| All rounder affordable car: Mazda 6 (comfortable and surprisingly good even though I thought it was crap)
FF: Audi TT (2.0L Turbo one...not the crappy V6 plus I never liked the Hondas...too safe...)
FR: The Mazda RX8, the Nissan 350Z, the BMW M3, the Mercedes Benz C63 AMG (that is one crazy motherf*cker of a car), the Toyota Supra, the Lexus IS300/IS350, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage (that glorious V8 wail...)
AWD: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X (sharp and focused as F-22 Raptor...), Nissan GT-R (the Japanese Euro killer is back...), Audi TT-S (believe me, the Quattro system is brilliant), Mazda 6 MPS (alright, it's not a full AWD but it grips like bubblegum on your bloody shoe...)
RR: Only one, the Porsche 911 GT3 (the GT2 is too F**King crazy and is a bit skittish on wet...)
|Posted by: nogard Mar 8 2008, 06:18 PM|
|Watch out for the German makers. BMW and Mercedes Benz have a thing now that will erase the ECU if you pop the hood. Stupid I think. Also VW/Audi are hard to work on because of the crapped space and hardly any clearance to get parts off. Trust me I worked at a mechanic shop and VW was a pain.|
|Posted by: mx73 Mar 9 2008, 01:01 AM|
| im a 4door whore
inline 6. rwd.
|Posted by: roxas3 Mar 9 2008, 02:35 AM|
That's probably why they have aftermarket tuners as well such as Hamann and as well as Brabus. Yeah, I know how you feel on the VW/Audi tuning. But luckily, we've got an in-house tuner for that
|Posted by: battousaiii Mar 14 2008, 04:24 PM|
| CBR!!! ftw. it's light too.
but in cars. i have 2. and their both nissan. and their both rwd. and their both awesome
can't go wrong with a 180sx Type-X. freaking sweet ass car. ARGH if only i could get my hands on a genuine one, where i am. it's all fakes and shit.

|My favorite car would be the Lotus Exige-S. Lotus have always used the concept that I like. Using lightweight as it main weapon. It improves cornering speed, braking and acceleration. Also it uses an supercharged Toyota engine so you know it reliable.|
|Posted by: ICEY Mar 26 2008, 12:06 AM|
|my favorite car right now is probably the s30 but all time is probably either the z32 or the FC|
|Posted by: Chaos Mar 26 2008, 05:06 AM|
| I wonder why they rarely liked the Station wagon Lancer Evo
but they like the sedan version of Lancer Evo
|Posted by: ICEY Mar 26 2008, 11:38 AM|
|fast and the furious pioneered that the evo sedan over the wagon IMO|
|Posted by: Mishiro Mar 27 2008, 08:58 AM|
| My all time favourite cars are:
1. 1996-97 Toyota Corolla, because we (me & my dad own it) find this car very reliable, cheap to maintain because you can find and buy the parts anywhere, affordable, indeed very economical, not to mention its speed and power for a 1.3L engine is very excellent. I may include Toyota '86 Trueno (cause corolla and trueno are somewhat related)
2. 1992-2002 Mazda RX-7 FD, due to its sexy looks, for a 1.3L RE its surprisingly fast and has excellent clearance in cornering/turning, and its economical.
3. 1989-1994 Toyota Celsior, I don't really know why I like this luxury sedan? Maybe it's because it looks cool especially in black, has a V8 engine which makes it indeed powerful, comfort is great, and it looks like a mafia car which I dubbed "keep away from this car".
|Posted by: KYMR2 Mar 28 2008, 07:02 PM|
| FF: The AE92 or 111 Levin and Trueno, though I can't say I've ever driven one.
FR: My AE86, even though I haven't driven that yet either...
MR: Never anything other than the AW11.
AWD: The 22b STi. Nothing like a 2-door Impreza...
|Posted by: rx7nude Mar 31 2008, 02:15 PM|
| My only favourite car is RX-7 FD-3S [especial 02']
In fact I drive one of these back home and modified it to around 400 whp for mountain road racing. This car is so fast that you won't believe; once you ride on it, you will never forget that feeling. When the mighty 13B starts to boosts out power, unlike piston engings, the power of 13 is going up steady. Also, the 13B is well-known for easy to tune [modify friendly] if you know how the 13B works. Moreover, from my personal experience...if you drive a hot Japanese tuner in Jap such as Supras, GTRs, Zs, S13/14/15, EVOs, STIs, Civis [e.g. EGs, DCs], Intergras...etc. you are likely will tailgates by any of those or even Ferraris and Prosches; however, I never seen any RX-7s tailgates by anyone, not even try to because RX-7s is well-known for quickness.
Here's one little secert of the 13Bs or the RX-7 series, 13Bs are easy to modify to running beyound 10,000 rev. all you need to do is take the car to the manufator or whatever shop can works or rotarts [I don't know about America, but you can do that in some places]
Other than power, the RX-7 series is more famous for its amazing [superior] handling. Thanks to the small size of the rotarty engine, the RX-7 series is able to use the FMR formation which produce 50:50 weight rato. Becasue of the weight rato, the RX-7 series has [I would say] superior agility if compare to other Japanese cars. One might say the AWD cars such as EVOs, STis, and GTRs would have better handling a FR car. In fact, I believe that only have correct but not excatly... Ture, AWD or 4WD cars are able to attack a coner with a higher in-speed; however, the weakness of this cars is easy to cause a understeering situation while leaving the apex [which cause lost of speed and racing line to recover]. On the other hand, FR cars have higher leaving speed, acceleration, and control if enters the coner with a reasonable speed. Of crouse, you can trun in with higher speed with 4WD cars, but remember, you still have to leave the coner with a good speed to keep yourself in the competetion.
According to the designer of RX-7[chiff engineer of RX-7] from a Japanese automobile show [similar to Top Gear], the idea of RX-7 is coming from the Japanese Zero Type Fighter during WWII which known for light weight, handling, and agility. Therefore, I believe that's what RX-7 is making for.
That's only my opinion and sorry for bad English
|Posted by: Mishiro Apr 1 2008, 05:20 AM|
Oh I agree with you handling of the RX-7 is great, that's also my favourite car.
Anyway I would like to share this to all Rotary Engine enthusiast:

|Posted by: AMON Apr 10 2008, 11:25 PM|
| My favourite car is the GT-R BNR32. It's a dream car that I can actually attain.

Mid-Engine rear wheel drive
Lightwieght (2700 lbs)
220 hp (Crank)
I own one so Im biased, I really love the car.
|Posted by: R_E_X Jun 14 2008, 09:50 PM|
| Definitely GT-R...
esp R34 V-spec II Nur... has one of the ultimate engine Nissan ever built...
Going to buy it when I have the money.
But if I must degrade it a bit... I'll get an S15 spec R (Gas price is killing me)
For now, I just stick to my father's Honda Jazz... It has pretty amazing acceleration too. The clutch is so light, and it has great fuel economy... even though its SOHC
But I will always like GT-R and will buy it
|Posted by: DeeBo Jun 15 2008, 03:09 AM|
Right now, the GT-R is just killer. It's fast as hell, technologically advanced, and looks damn sexy. I just can't wait for the V-spec to come out... and then Nismo's Z Tune or what ever they'll F**King call it.
Only thing that disappointed me was that they separated the GT-R from the Skyline name. I would think that they did it because they didn't want to steer away from the "traditional" Skyline/GT-R setup of an I6 and what not, but then today's Skyline (the G37) also has a V... so kind of confuses me as to why Nissan did that.
My other favorites would include the S30Z/ZG, R32 Skyline, and the PGC10 Skyline GT-R (first GT-R EVAR).
|Posted by: DreadAngel Jun 20 2008, 10:11 AM|

|Posted by: Sponge968 Jul 1 2008, 10:11 PM|
| Porsche 911 GT3 RS
But more realistically for my price range, I'd love to pick up a 944 next year and drop in a 968 engine and transmission.
|Posted by: PanzerAce Jul 1 2008, 10:13 PM|
| Why not just get a 968 then?
Oh, and if you do decide to do that, you might as well rebuild the 3.0L four banger into a turbo setup while you are at it.
|Posted by: Sponge968 Jul 1 2008, 10:26 PM|
| 944s can be had for about half the cost of a 968 and are lighter. Problem will be finding the parts cheap to make it worth it, but given time I think I might be able to pull it off.
If I had a 968 I'd keep it N/A, ~200hp would be fine for me.
Maybe a 944 turbo would be a good option, but harder to find.
And no evil LS1 mods
|Posted by: PanzerAce Jul 1 2008, 11:40 PM|
|Eh, out here 944s go for less than 4 grand for one in great condition inside and out with low miles for their age. The joys of living in CA|

but one of my dreams cars has to be the air-cooled porsche 993 turbo "s" 0-60 in 3.6sec with 424hp. OMG!! plus those looks... the new 2007/8porsche turbos/gt2 look good too. another would be ferrari f50 or enzo

Woo! Turbo Doge FTW! My dad owns a '87 GLHS too. His is #658 of 1000.
Are you on the Turbo Dodge forums?
IamThe280Z - Your thiunking of the Chrysler Conquest, also the Starion as you said.

| well i got educamacated .
Well the GLHS does resemble the starion
|Posted by: Force Fed Mopar Jul 12 2008, 04:01 AM|
Yeah I am on the TurboDodge, Turbo-Mopar, and BoostedMopar sites. Same name there too. Mostly I'm on the BoostedMopar site (see my sig ) and just go to the others to buy/sell stuff. One of my best friends owns BM.
My GLHS is #392. I also currently have an '84 Shelby Charger that's in the middle of a 2.0 DOHC swap, an '85 Turbo Z, an '87 Shelby Z, an '83 Rampage 2.2, and an '89 Lebaron that's getting a V6 and a newer cockpit interior. And that's just my turbo Dodges I think I have somewhere around 16-18 cars and trucks right now, mostly Dodges, except for the 240Z, the RX-7 Turbo II, and my '92 Tercel daily.
IamThe280Z, if I were an uptight TD guy I would verbally beat you for comparing the Charger to a Conquest Although Conquests are sweet too, I had a couple but never got to drive them much due to either engine or title problems.
I wonder how many people here know/can guess what GLHS stands for?
|Posted by: DOHC Jul 12 2008, 07:53 AM|

| GLH = Goes like hell
GLHS = Goes like hell, Shelby
Im a Turbo Dodge guy, I was raised around my dads GLHS Charger and his best friends Spirit, both with 2.2 engines. Now my dads GLHS is getting a built 2.5 swap. Has everything to achieve 400whp on a decent tune, atleast this is according to the guys on the TD forums.
|Posted by: Yoshida Seiji Jul 22 2008, 06:15 PM|
| Mazda RX-7.
A F**Kin' race car.
Prefer FC's to FD's though, unlike most people.
|Posted by: Force Fed Mopar Jul 23 2008, 05:30 AM|
You got it I'm keeping mine a 2.2, if I go to something else it'll be a 2.0 or 2.4 DOHC. 400hp on a 2.5, better have a good ported head and run 25psi at least w/ a good intercooler. I assume 8v still? I rarely make over to TD.com other than in the classifieds, spend most of my time on BoostedMopar.
What kind of Spirit?
|Posted by: MaikazeFD3S Jul 23 2008, 11:23 AM|
| Thats all I know of, he is running a built (I mean REALLY built) 8v 2.5 engine with a Spearco intercooler. Knowing my dad, a hell of a lotta boost too.
The Spirit, I cant remember, a '88 with a 2.2 I believe. Sorry, I was really young when the Spirit was sold for a Shelby Charger.
|Posted by: peemyTNBow Jul 23 2008, 12:01 PM|
This man speaks the truth.
I used to have an FC, but i was kidding myself when i told myself I dreamed of FCs more than FDs. After driving a few FDs, the FD is the official car of my realistic dreams.
FCs do have quite a few "advantages" over FDs though, depending on car setup choice.
|Posted by: Force Fed Mopar Jul 23 2008, 06:15 PM|
Cool, sounds like it should haul butt. I was just wondering if it was a Spirit R/t, they are sweet 150mph 4-dr grandma car
|Posted by: Yoshida Seiji Jul 23 2008, 07:35 PM|
I am a new owner of an FD as of a month or so ago.
After I finish pulling the engine and finishing the port job, I'll post up all of my "progress" pictures. Body is in niiiiiiiice shape.
I've had an FC for years though.
|Posted by: peemyTNBow Jul 24 2008, 06:16 AM|
|Let me know if you need any parts. I could probably get you some upgrades at my discounted rates.|

Actually, funny you should say, I talked to my dad and it was a Red Spirit R/T! LOL, he may have a pic or two of the cars together. If he can find them, I'll get them up here to you.
To the 7 fans - I couldn't tell you if I liked the FC or FD. I've driven both the Sa22 and the FC3S and liked the FC more out of the two. I dont know if I could tell you if I liked the FD more, never had the great oppertunity to drive one.
I would be a FC owner, that was my first car of choice when I was growing up, but my parents didnt know the first thing when it came to rotary engines so I was told I couldnt get one. They werent going to trust my with my knowledge of the wankel engines, even though I learned how they worked before a conventional (piston) internal combustion engine.
Yoshida Seiji + BMWNeoType - I envy you guys, I would put my soul into a RX-7. But Im limited due to my parents, although it might have been a good idea (for my own good). I plan to get rid of the MR2 if I had ever had the change to afford an RX7.

| [QUOTE=Force Fed Mopar,Jul 12 2008, 04:01 AM] Yeah I am on the TurboDodge, Turbo-Mopar, and BoostedMopar sites.
IamThe280Z, if I were an uptight TD guy I would verbally beat you for comparing the Charger to a Conquest Although Conquests are sweet too, I had a couple but never got to drive them much due to either engine or title problems.
i was beat to the answer for the glhs designation.
|Posted by: Yoshida Seiji Jul 24 2008, 06:33 PM|
| Turbo II RX-7 is the first car I ever drove.
My mom's boyfriend back in 1991 had a brand new one. I was a little bastard back then. And I got to sit in his lap and steer as he drove it. I was like OMG THIS IS THE GREATEST CAR EVER.
Fell in love since then. I bought an FC years ago, with a blown apex seal. Rebuilt it, and sold it for my current FC. I've put about $9,000 into my FC, not counting what I paid for it. If not more. About to buy new suspension too.
As for my FD, I am about to get ahold of a Spirit R spoiler and bumper, and fenders. I dunno if the fenders will fit. But I'll make it work. After I get it painted with the engine and everything thrown back together, I'll take a ton of pictures. I considered a 20b swap. But I wanna keep my 13bREW. I was thinking about getting RX8 seats though, I love those things.
|Posted by: peemyTNBow Jul 25 2008, 11:39 PM|
| The Spirit R Fenders are the same as the regular FD fenders. The Bumper is the same as the 99 - 02 FD3Ss. Same with the Lip, Flash to pass lights, 99 - 02 Rear wing, and 96+ Tail-lamps.
It is easier to swap a 20B into an FC rather than an FD, mainly because the subframe needs to be modified to fit a 20B in an FD. Relatively speaking it bolts right in, in an FC. But, i prefer the 13B-REW to a 20B for a daily driven street car anyday too.
You can check out the new R3 Package Rx8 Seats (they are recaro reclinables), but i prefer the black type RZ carbon recaros. They cost about the same in the end.
Is your FD roller a base, touring, pep, or R1/R2?
|Posted by: Yoshida Seiji Jul 27 2008, 07:09 AM|
| Hum, I've heard something about the later FD front bumpers not fitting well with the earlier FD's because of fenders or something. I dunno, the only guy I know that owns an FD around here has a kit on it. Maybe I was misinformed though. That'd make things easier for me.
Yeah, that R3 8 is nice, the seats are heaven. I've not really decided what I'm gonna do as far as that goes, I just really like the rotor accents on the seats of the 8. As for my FD, it's an R1. Completely stock. Gonna more or less stay that way, aside from suspension, and small reliability mods.
Or maybe I should throw some super sweet nyooonz on there. Naw jk
|Posted by: peemyTNBow Jul 28 2008, 02:56 AM|
| A nice complete R1 (even though it has a blown/no motor) is a good find.
I would recommend getting rid of the stock downpipe with the pre-cat on it (it tends to overheat the wires causing a mess). Since it the FD is a MAP Sensor based car, you need to either upgrade to a High Pressure type MAP Sensor, and if you do enough mods, a Power FC. Also check your original AST (air separator tank), if its dark brown/green, it needs to be changed to an aluminum one (cheap upgrade).
I have a ton of relationships with all the rotary shops in japan (usually between 10-30 percent discount on certain aftermarket/upgrade parts). So PM me if you need/want anything (i usually do not mind helping other rotary guys out).
Shoot up some pictures when you can. Where are you located.

| I'm out in North Carolina half of the year.
The other half of the year is spent in Chiba and Tokyo. As well as Kyoto every once in a while. Since my girlfriend is from Chiba and likes to visit home often. Yeah, I'll get some pictures up when I throw the engine back in. Everything is really clean. I'm thinking about just repainting it at the moment though. I dunno really though, I'm not much for planning ahead, I'm more of a spur of the moment kinda guy. At any rate, much appreciated. I remember seeing a lot of your pictures and videos from the last time you were in Japan on RX7club. 4 rotor goodness. mmm.

| I'm an "average person" when it comes to cars - I only know they get me to where I want to go if I pour in fuel and get myself driving lessons. My exposure to them barely goes beyond what I see on the local roads and through mass media, especially PC games.
Within this limited scope of familiarity with cars, I would have to say that my favorite car - and arguably the most influential car for me - would have to the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Lorean_DMC-12.
Linked from the NY Times online article: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/06/automobiles/collectibles/06EGO.html
I don't own a car, but if I did, simple economics dictates that I would have to buy a sedan or a van (such is the price of family, lol). But if I had limitless resources with which to pursue a personal dream of vehicular ownership, I would definitely be looking to claim one of these DeLoreans for myself, like the woman in the picture did.
I doubt I'd be able to afford the price she paid for hers, but hey, if the new DeLorean Motor Company does start making these cars again, as it says http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,293814,00.html, then maybe in another decade or so, I'd be able to afford my own 2009 or 2010 DeLorean.
After all, nothing's stopping me from hoping that my rich and powerful future self would arrive at my doorstep and leave me a note telling me how much I would need to save starting today, lol.
I wonder: just how much does a Flux Capacitor cost?

| Well, my favorite cars...hmm...haha...why did someone make a thread like this? It's torture!
How about by drivetrain?
FF - Honda Civic Type R (EK9) - I've always liked the style of the EK9 Type R. Don't know why. I just do. And although truthfully I'm no fan of front-wheel-drive cars, I think this car would be something I'd get.
MR - Lamborghini Countache - Well, it's just one of those cars, you know? Looks great, sounds great...but you probably won't ever drive it. My uncle likes 'em too. Maybe car tastes run in the family? Haha...I really just like the sound.
Lancia Stratos - Famous rally car. When I was little, I loved how it was so different from all of the other rally cars. So sleek and tiny. The louvres over the rear window, the grill on the hood...and the cool-looking windshield. Just always liked it.
AWD - Nissan Skyline GT-R Vspec II (BNR32) - My friend loves his, and frankly, I like it too. Looks menacing, and IS pretty menacing. Not the greatest car in the world, expecially since I don't like AWD's for racing (for my own reasons), but man! It's still an awesome car to look at. And listen to.
FR - Datsun 240Z (S30) - Style is flawless. Performance was pretty darn good too. With the things people do to them today, they're pretty fast now too! I'm hoping to get a '70 model and paint it a sort of dark candy apple color. Maybe swap a nice engine in and go all out. By "all out" I of course mean tuning. Weight reducing and suspension and strengthening rollbars and everything. I'm going to be a professional racer one day. I'd love to have a great car for the roads and for fun as well. Keep me in shape!
Toyota Trueno GT-Apex (AE86) - Just so you know, I've liked them even before I saw Initial D. And not because they're great drifting cars either. I kinda liked the simple look. The hatchback was my favorite. I first saw the car on Gran Turismo 2...I still remember. Ahh...memories. Anyway, they're cheap and reliable, and thanks to Initial D, they're famous too!
RR - Volkswagen Beetle '63 - Truthfully? I'm a "Love Bug" fan. Also, I love the look of the car. It's just different. The curves are so elegant and...well, the car is pretty much just one big curve! I love cars with nice curves. This car's like curve paradise.
Cars I have a soft spot for:
Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A - It's Haruhi's car! Plain and simple!
Nissan Skyline GT-R Vspec (BRN33) - I like them for some reason.
Jaguar E-Type Coupe - English style and elegance meets performance! In the '60's!
But if you told me to pick one out of all of these, I'd say the S30 is my car of choice.
|Posted by: MaikazeFD3S Sep 28 2008, 05:28 PM|
| +1 on the Lancia Stratos, very unique car. I love the style personally, its just those 70s sports cars:
The Lotus Europa is my favorite car in the world!
But the Stratos and the Caterhams follow with it.
PS - This doesnt mean I dont love my SW20, the Europa is the ONLY car I would ever give it up for.

| First Fav - SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STi. - It suits my demand for performance, but it can sit 3 more others at the back, my wife on the side. Can put some groceries on the trunk, and looks a little less agressive than a Lancer Evolution... not to mention that it sounds better. (DAILY DRIVER)
Second Fav - SUBARU IMPREZA S204. - A limited edition, anyone into the Scooby mark may find this a precious gem to own. Sadly only available in Japan, but given the importing means, I would buy one and keep it in the garage and drive for track days only. (EXHIBIT and OCCASIONAL TRACK DAY CAR)
Third Fav - PORSCHE 911 GT3 RS. - Lighter weight than a standard Porsche GT3 plus a factory installed roll cage, factory tuned suspension, factory lightweight tuning. If you want to race a genuine manufacturer's original race car and still enough to use for public roads, this is one nice car (from many brands and models of the same car category)... plus there's always something special for me knowing that the engine is in the very arse-end of the car. Very unorthodox but makes it somewhat unique. (TRACK DAY CAR)

|Posted by: Force Fed Mopar May 26 2009, 08:49 PM|
|They do have a certain amount of complication to them, but parts expense and rarity is the main problem.|
|Posted by: Oddmanout84 May 27 2009, 08:46 AM|
Hard to work with, weak transmission, gimmicky/unreliable electronics, parts availability/small aftermarket support, HEAVY.
But oh so beautiful, comfortable... I loved mine to death, too bad it had to go.

|Posted by: Oddmanout84 May 29 2009, 05:21 PM|
Just letting you know what you'd have to put up with. Like I said, I loved the car. I'd buy a VR4 if I could.
|Posted by: cmspaz May 29 2009, 08:06 PM|
Yeah, pretty much. I'd actually not completely agree with the tranny statement, a friend of mine autox'd his Stealth R/T TT with 550awtq (he never talked about hp, it is autox, after all) on the stock tranny, never had a problem.
If you want the cheap Mitsu AWD route, just pick up a DSM. It's got one of the largest available aftermarkets and it's cheap to make fast, even reliably. It also won't weigh 4000lbs.
Or, if you still want something with the VR-4 badge, look into a 91-92 Galant. Ultimate sleeper.
|Posted by: DOHC May 29 2009, 08:57 PM|
|very heavy indeed like steering a giant whale shark get a dodge stealth lol|
|Posted by: Oddmanout84 May 30 2009, 04:06 AM|
Well, maybe the Getrag transmission fairs better. I didn't have one, cause I had an SL. But before someone says "Well than wut r u talking sh*t bout VR4 than n00b?!11one!?", the cars still share a lot of the same characteristics. And since the SL has less moving parts/no turbos/less electronicatry, Murphy's law favors it.
|Posted by: Force Fed Mopar May 30 2009, 09:55 AM|
Stealth = 3000GT
|Posted by: samtruong200 May 30 2009, 11:52 AM|
|hmm, maybe I might just get a 3000GT in the future then. They are pretty cheap nowadays ~5k-10k. However, its mostly a dream for me right now, lol. How much does the active aero on the 1st gen actually affect anything at all?|
|Posted by: Oddmanout84 May 30 2009, 12:28 PM|
Some... but really, its mostly a gimmick. Then again, I don't really have any numbers for you. I'd imagine it helps about as much as the newer 911's retracting spoilers do.
|Posted by: Force Fed Mopar May 30 2009, 02:28 PM|
|I'm sure it helps a whole lot at 150mph|

|Posted by: cmspaz May 31 2009, 01:04 PM|

1989-1995 Ford Taurus SHO, because they are sleepers
All Nssan GT-Rs, because of their lore and performance
And a whole lot more....
And 3000GT VR-4s, they're so unique, despite all the issues, you gotta love them

|Have you seen the new Taurus SHOs? Very sexy indeed.|
|Posted by: cmspaz Jun 9 2009, 07:38 PM|
Yeah, but they're way overpriced for still being a Taurus, when I could pick up an Evo X for less and get not only better cornering performance, but better straight-line as well.

I think Jeremy Clarkson did a bit on how ridiculously impractical that car is. I'll admit it was my dream car as a kid, but after actually seeing what I'd have to put up with as the driver.... No.
|Posted by: Force Fed Mopar Jun 10 2009, 02:02 PM|

| Nissan 300ZX Turbo (Z31)
This car is extremely underrated and under appreciated. The Z31 is one of the easiest and cheapest cars to modify. The single cam VG, while it revs low (redline at 6,000 RPM) and the stock power band isn't too impressive, puts out an extreme amount of torque and responds extremely well to simple upgrades (intake, exhaust, ECU tune). So many things can be done to the VG to make it even better. For its time, the Z31 handles well, but suffers from excessive body roll (correctly easily with proper bracing). There is an extremely noticeable difference once modifications are done to the suspension. The car is perfectly balanced (50:50 F/R) and weighs in anywhere between 2,800-3,200 lbs depending on year, trim, etc.
...And it's just down right sexy...

|OMG sooooo hot! I love how the back end of the early Z31s look so much like a 240-280Z.|

That's a '1', not an 'I' in Z16A, just for the record.
Fun cars though, would have been more fun if they didn't weigh 2 tons...

That's the unfortunate downside to owning a 3KGT.
|Posted by: cmspaz Sep 20 2009, 08:07 PM|
That's just a performance downside. The actual downside is that they're just a really big DSM with more expensive parts.

True story. And the FWD models have a weak ass tranny. All in all though, awesome for a GT/Touring car.

For putting that POS Chevy on here....
1. Reventon: Maybe, but still gay
2. Veyron: It lost to a 35,000 GBP Caterham R500, so it's completely gay. Speed's reasonable, but it is officially gay.
3. Ferrari FXX: If there's a roadgoing homologated vehicle, maybe. But it's not that special because if you buy it, Ferrari keeps it until the track day comes.
4. Ferrari F50: No comment.
5. Ferrari 250 GTO: I could think of a couple better cars, but that's unfair, is it?
6. Ferrari Testa: No comment.
7. Ferrari 456M: WTF is that?
8. Ferrari F355: It's too common. A Lotus Esprit V8 is better looking.
9. Chevy Silverado: IT'S WEAK.
Now my turn.
^I like this Gen. Aristo more than its bug-eyed Counterpart, but...
@Spaz: A girl owning a VW Jetta (Automatic, SSR Rims, Sound System) wanted to get her friend's 95 (FWD LOL) Twin Turbo 3KGT. Oddly, there was a 91 AWD TT 3KGT, but she didn't like it. Figures.

| ^That Impala deserves to be f*cking crushed.
After one test drive, I find this car to be the most simplest, reliable, favorite car I've ever sat upon even if it had problems:
If I can remember at the top of my head,
1. Belt's loose on the engine
2. Spring to hold the (Rear) Bonnet up failed
3. Speakers are missing
4. Signals have a problem somewhere in the wiring (Though all 4 lights work)
5. Left headlight's out
6. Paint's odd
7. WTF is with the e-brake?
8. Right visor is broken off
9. Speedo doesn't work (Easy $7 fix)
10. Mileage is now inaccurate
11. Brakes require pumping
Though other than that, the previous owner (Somewhere 18-25 years old) Pretty much "tuned" the thing. I'll get photos of it at the dealer before I trade in my DB1. Trust me, it's not looking like some sort of an exotic, but it's a Beetle.

1. If it's not TDI, it sucks.
2. Uh....... Damn. A Panzertank shot my opinion down.
^Porsche B32. Credits go to Bubs.
^Note: The engine is neither in the front or the rear. And people still don't know where it is. Think the Beetle.
^ All it needs is a Wolfsburg logo like most Beetles.

| Last one needs more air suspension and Fuchs.
Swedish Coolness summed up in one pic.

| Air23, quit posting 5 f**king billion pictures. You can't have eleventy-billion favorite cars, because of the word 'favorite'. It implies one or a tie of like two or three, not 20 per post with three posts per day.
Plus, how the f**k can you even know if you like those cars? How many of them have you driven, or at the very least ridden in? Close to zero, I'm sure. You can't judge a car on looks alone, hell, not even the drivetrain or engine location is enough to make a distinct comparison between two cars, let alone everything you've posted.
And no, having "driven" the car in a video game doesn't count.

Sorry, but it is hard to ignore when you're on a 1.5Mb DSL line that takes 2 minutes to load this page because of the sheer amount of spam pictures, and you can't read any new posts because the page keep scrolling due to the constant loading of pics.
Trust me, I'd ignore it if I could.

|My faves by far are most from good 'ol 70s- Skyline GT-R (KPGC10), Lotus Europa, and probably a tie between S30Z and Caterham Super 7 (original Lotus Super 7 was from this time period).|

And got 2 more unpainted ones. 1 as an absolute spare, 1 I was slowly working into a street version. My Armored Core one may get its fenders shaved for a more street look as well.
And lets not forget my beloved 1/43:
