Try to remember, if you will, the first time you really had a rush of adrenaline playing Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune. For me, it was when I saw the Devil Z for the first time in WMMT1, and realized how fast the Devil Z really was compared to my low 320 horsepower car, and so I tuned it all the way to 800hp that same day and faced off in the epic battle with the Devil Z and the Blackbird as Blue Blazes pumped out of the speakers. Man, I don't know about you, but that was probably one of the most epic moments in a game I had ever played. I still remember being neck and neck with Akio and Tatsuya, not knowing what boost was, not knowing how to take red turns (Which I still don't btw :-p), but just reveling in that amazing race where I could feel that rush of excitement and be completely immersed in the moment. That feeling...was what started it all for me.

One's measure of satisfaction and enjoyment is completely subjective in my opinion. To some, this may seem more obvious than it would to others. Looking back, I remember when I first started playing this game, I had so much fun because it was new and fresh and different. I remember when I had my first battles, my first real win against someone much better than me (EXILE, God of ID :-P), when everyone saw me hit #1 in the US for C1 Outbound, those were GOOD TIMES. I'm sure you've had your own times that made this game memorable when you first started out.

So long story short, my university had an arcade in it, and we got WMMT1 when it came out. That was when I met some newbies that were just starting out. I had already been playing for a while, so there wasn't much competition. I decided to teach them how to play, and after a while, they became seasoned battlers in their own right, as well as good friends. Together we traveled to various arcades, battled it out, and found new comrades. Then something interesting happened.

I formed a team, and I called it Diamond Stars. Then everything got insane.

Many of you have heard the story from this point on, so i'll summarize it. There was a player called ????? (literally), there was hell, I tried to prevent it as best as I could, and then it all crashed down, and then there was no more ?????. Within that summary, there were rivalries, there were crushing defeats, there were triumphs, there were losses, and there was lots and and lots of DRAMA. I wish there was a better word than drama, like "massive amounts of S!@#! talking that amounted to such nonsense you actually could be entertained immensely by the ludicrousy of it" Those were glorious days I tell you. Arcade Infinity (where it all went down) would be so packed on Friday nights that you could barely walk in. It was a time when people knew you by name, and the arcade became a colloseum, where the crowds would bear witness to battles and we were the gladiators duking it out, sometimes to the last meter amidst the shouts of the throng. I'm sure there are people to this very day who still remember me standing on top of the machines and roaring my victory. But it was all part of the experience, so we take it in stride.

We fast forward to present day WMMT3. A new community had risen from the fallout of the previous community after the AI disaster. These new players were untainted by the previous events that had befallen us, and I intended to keep it that way as long as possible. These players were situated at an arcade not far from AI, called Super Arcade (I know, we Californians are lucky). I walked by one day and saw people playing WMMT3 and HAVING FUN. You have to realize that it had been quite some time that I had fun playing due to all the drama that had happened before. I went over to watch and saw these new players that thought they were so good. Well, I have been known to knock people like that down a peg or two :-D. I began to go there more often, and within this fledgling community, the fun that I thought was gone for good had suddenly been revived, and I found myself enjoying the thrill just like the old days. Pretty soon, the fledgling community started to grow, and with it, came the drama yet again.

I almost felt like an immortal being, watching the events of WMMT history repeat itself. Again, I did the best I could, but it seemed inevitable, the conflicts had begun anew. But I had learned something. Even if history repeated itself, it didn't mean it was the end of all the fun. People found a way to enjoy themselves even if there was strife in the community, even if the fun was on a minor scale, we still enjoyed it to the fullest, and in that, I found hope.

With this hope, I leave the WMMT community in all of your hands. Now, I've officially retired as the Leader of Diamond Stars, and am soon off to medical school. Edward and Julian have been chosen as the new co-leaders of Diamond Stars, and Remie and Fuji will be the Generals. Together, these four will lead the new era of the team, and hopefully everything works out. I want to thank all the players i've known over the years that have allowed me to have this much fun, without you, it wouldn't have been this amazing of an experience, and I hope I've made it fun for you guys too. I wonder what it was like the first time you guys met me, and how many people i've influenced over the years. I wonder if i've inspired people to get better, and find themselves enjoying the game at a level they never thought possible. I wonder if some of the things I've done have really contributed to this community. I wonder if people will still sit outside arcades and do silly things like pretend to be on rollercoasters or talk about the good times. I wonder if there was once someone out there who played this game, experienced the same things we'd experienced, and walks out of the arcade with his friends one day and says, "Hey, we should form a team...why don't we call it...

DIAMOND STARS.

"Who knows, maybe some people will know our name and we'll be legends someday...yeah right Ali :-p"

I'll miss you guys a lot. You were awesome :-D

Viva Forever.

Well to say the least, ALI, you are and were one of the greatest friends, players, and people I have ever met from Wangan. The rush i would get from battling you, the laughter you brought to me, and most of all, the PRIDE you brought to me back at the end of the WM2 days when you told me "Sal, your the best, and never forget that." And I never did, and I Never will, but you see, i grow in a new phase of my life also. I am an aspiring student at UCLA, and want to do all i can to succeed here, knowing for the first time in my life, that i must leave this love for the game behind. It has been great. From my Wangan 1 days, when i was a nobody and learning how to play, to then meeting some of the best players in the WORLD at the plant such as ELIA, BOOST, and RACRX.

From that point on, i felt the competition flowing through my veins to be the BEST.
I wanted to prove to the world that i, could be the best, and for a while, i felt i did that. I kept up with some legendary players such as Bart, yourself Ali, Elia, Boost, Racer X, 2slow, and DarkQ and sometimes even beat them. From my growth point when i was first asked to join Evil* then had an ambition. To create a team noone would ever forget, 818. Me and Elia gave birth to a team in the modern era of Wangan that everyone feared and no one can deny that. They became legendary for TA and Battle, but more important fueled the best rivarly Wangan has ever seen,7Nite vs 818 vs DS. No one will ever forget these moments. And Of course, I will never forget the moment me and Racer X took it upon ourselves to create a secret TA group to take on HK's dominance in the world, and we did, landing ourselves in top 10's in the world in most courses, and some even higher than that, but as of now, i leave Project "X" in his hands. I will never forget such moments were i felt pride to have other players respect and be acknowledged as the best for my time, and most of all, i will never forget the way my heart beated, when i raced the Legendarys players such as Ali, Bart, and Boost who have come to retire recently. Literally the best players that have ever come to walk the US have come to recognize that their time is done, and so i come to say, my time is done here. I cannot thank the whole wangan community for all their love and respect, and to you Ali, I can't thank you enough for teaching me the confidence in Wangan to actually believe i am the best, but as of now, i am a student aspiring to have an MBA from Harvard in 6 years, and must do what i can to make my dream come true. Wangan will live on forever. There will come new players,

BUT
there will never be an original DS General that dominated the Wangan world such as Ali.
there will never be a faster TA player i have ever seen as Bart.
there will never be someone who could push his limits so far such as Racer X.
there will never be someone like Boost, who became the best friend i ever had in Wangan.
there will never be someone like Elia who pushed me to the limit and to Top World times.
there will never be someone like MC*FR, who at the top of his game in Wangan, decides to retire, but my time in this has come to an end

So i thank all of you for all the memories and thank all my true great friends for all i learned here. Perhaps we will meet again, but a new Wangan era begins. A Era of Legendary Pasts. happy.gif

* at ali* Hey.. im pretty sure that once you become a doctor and you some how end up sleep walking to AI one night and you see Fuji◊ duking it all out with other exponential players with a sold out type of crowd, you better wear a Racer X mask with your doctors jacket and race us.

I as well as Ed, Jullian, Remie, and everyone else in Diamond Stars will be awaiting your "devious" revival into Wangan, the game that sucked you in young and spat you out a legend.

Btw, nice speech.

We will never forget you ali happy.gif.

There are those that quit, and those that continue to drive.

A blast from the past:

The possibilites are endless. I hope this journey through the world of the ID WMMT forums has been as eye-opening experience for you, as it was for Actaceon the hunter when he told Artemis, the Greek Goddess of the Hunt, that he thought he was a better hunter, which followed with Artemis turning him into a stag and sending his own hounds to tear off his genitals and rip him to pieces. That's what you get for f!@$@# with the goddess of the hunt. Make sure you don't repeat his mistake.

I hope you LoLLed at this. If not, too bad for j00.

QUOTE (alivangelion13)
**We have concluded the purpose of this guide. We have found the solution to getting 815 hp. Thanks to all the people who helped make this happen (Especially H.Z.)***

~Ali

- How to get 815 HP Simple Version -

Beat 1st cycle story mode (Stages 1-80) UNDEFEATED.

If you lose EVEN ONCE during Stages 1-80, you CANNOT get 815hp (you will only be able to get 810hp MAX)

Once you beat Stage 80 (ALL UNDEFEATED), the devil tuner Kitami will give you your second red tuning bar.

*If you transfer a SHADED card from WMMT1, IT CANNOT GET 815hp.

*If you transfer an UNSHADED card from WMMT1, you have to beat stages 21-80 UNDEFEATED to get 815hp.

~How to get 815hp (Taken From H.Z.'s Post)~

Regarding the shading of the cards... once a player dont get an unshaded card for stage 1 - 80 story mode 1st cycle, the 815HP wont happen anymore... if a player lose just once in the first cycle (or converted a shaded card from WMMT 1), the card will be shaded and 810 will be the final HP. even if the player dont lose a single race in the 2nd to 4th cycle (what! with all that traffic?  ) there wont be any more tuning for the car...

for a shaded card after the 1st round of story mode is finished all the data is wiped out and the card is clean... but once the 2nd cycle starts and the card is ejected, all the shading will come back... for players with max tuned cars, just try and win one race in the second cycle and eject the card... you will see that the cpu won will be marked with a shaded circle...

Once a card is shaded, its shaded forever... even if WMMT 3 comes out in the distance future, i sincerely believe that any shaded WMMT (1 or 2) cards transfer over will still be shaded... Namco has risen the bar on the shading thing... in WMMT 1 its for showing off, in WMMT 2 it actually does something... what about the future?

players over Asia (seen in Sg and heard in HKG) are now displaying the shaded car throwing away sydrome... no ones wants shaded cars anymore (expect the converted WMMT 1 cars, no one throws away a 10000km shaded car, as the aura is big)... new cars that lost to cpu are thrown away like unwanted babies... want a new car without buying a card? look in the dustbin baby...

~Old Stuff~

Currently available for testing:

*Top Priority ~Beating 80 stages w/o losing~ *This is currently accepted as the way to get 815 hp. After beating the 80th stage unshaded, the Devil Tuner gives you your final tuning bar going from 810 hp to 815 hp. We have good proof of it so far, so i have decided to make a guide as well on how to beat story mode unshaded here (ex. Horsepower, strategies on each round/stage). So help out and let's get this done!

Can this be done from a:
> Transferred SHADED Card from stage 1
> Transferred UNSHADED Card from stage 1
> Transferred SHADED Card from stage 21
> Transferred UNSHADED Card from stage 21
> New/Transferred card that loses in story mode and starts again from beginning (new cycle)

That's all i can think of for now. Update as necessary, and correct me if i'm ridiculously wrong biggrin.gif

Beating Outrun Mode with all S-Class & Story Mode W/O Losing

Beating Story Mode Completely Twice (Total of 640 cycles i believe)

Notes:

From TypeX:

Good idea. I'll add to that the fact that people HAVE attained 815HP, but only with the two extra tuning points that are available with the three Special Character cars in Time Attack mode.

I have seen every damn line there was in WMMT1. After playing and watching people play WMMT2 for 4 hours today, it dawned on me that I have seen the funniest, weirdest, and most original lines in the English language on this game. Now there's an exponential amount of hilarity, with many many lines all suitable for a B-movie from the 80's.

This thread is dedicated to all the funny lines we hear in the game.

Things I have read:

~Awe! - Hakone guy

Yes, that's all the guy says. Awe! Like, he is in awe, but as a verb! Holy crap that's awesome!

~I want to win the tuning rotary. - FC guy

I don't know about you, but seriously, that is just bad. I know, it probably would have corretly translated to "I want to be the best at tuning the rotary" or something. I want to win it too!

~I love you - Gatchan

People, I dont think you realize the depth of this game. There's love, hate, violence, action, betrayal...its like a F!@#$ Soap OPERA! Seriously, when this guy was racing, and he said that, I swear the guy started racing like 10000x better.....

~Where did he go? Its like he warped there *FC Guy vs Blackbird

LOL, I SWEAR THEY HAD MIC's INSTALLED IN WMMT1! I remember saying that when we would battle, and now they put it in...damn hijackers.

Add your favorites here!

Update: Questions that have still NOT BEEN ANSWERED CORRECTLY:

1. (Cmon, they always say their catch phrases and talk about their cars...how they FEEL...someone has to get this)

3. (You're missing one DEX!)

4. (I admit this one is hard, and I'm pretty sure it wasnt aizawa [hint, they were all driving in the HIACE Van stage]

5. [Outrun players, get this]

9. [OMG CMON its not MIDDLE THANH...lol]

10. [Seriously, i must play MT way too much, but this one you guys should know]

11. [0o0 this is a hard one, but that's why its extra credit. and what I mean by "Hit on" = Flirt. Like "Do you have a boyfriend?" <-- hint.)

13. [Still baiting those namco execs that must be on this fourm somewhere.]

This is FOR FUN. I DONT KNOW THE ANSWERS TO ALL OF THEM (but i know most of them). Post your answers here. First one to post at least 9 right answers gets kudos (like....cyber kudos, i'm not F@#$! mailng you kudos man...seriously.)

~A Wangan Test~

OMG man, cmon. ::Meditates:: I actually am online psychically, But i get better reception than mike when i have a 5'o clock shadow. All I do is point my fingers to my temples, and BAM! You have Genius in Text on the fourms.

Its 2 am and i'm bored out of my mind, and Maximum Acceleration has been on loop for like 2 hours now.

So lets spcie things up with a little test:

1. What are Akio and Tatsuya's beliefs that they are fighting for? (Hint: its about how they feel about cars)

2. What is Reina's job?

3. What cars does Akio drive in the WMMT2 Arcade Story Mode Stages 1-80?

4. Who is Gatchan's Relative *Dad, Uncle, whatever

5. Makoto Morishita says two (or more?) things in outrun mode when you beat her. Name those two statements.

6. Who does everyone hate for blocking like an asshole in WMMT2? Starts with an S, and ends with an A.

7. Where does Akio meet Oki in MT2 Arcade? (Stages 1-80)

8. Who "Outruns" Tatsuya Shima in Stages 1-80 (Other than Akio)?

9. Name all 5 settings for Music volume in the MT2 Arcade Menu.

10. Who's catch phrase in Outrun mode is "You Lose"?

* = xtra credit

*11. Who does Akio "hit on" in Hakone? (Stages 1-80)

*12. What cars has Reina driven in MT2 Arcade?

*13. What is the code for the HIACE VAN?

~End~

~Intro~

I made this thread since I can update as necessary and I know enough people that will contribute to the success of this thread (and yes, I actually put some info in the thread, so no it isn't useless guys).

Basically here is the forum's place to contribute how to complete story mode UNSHADED with the best settings, knowing potential story mode hazards (road blocks, traffic pattern predictions), the DO's and DON'Ts, etc etc. The success of this FAQ depends on your input. I will do my best too.

GIVE ME TIME, I WILL UPDATE THIS FAQ, SO DONT BADGER ME FOR ALL THE UNKNOWN STUFF (unless you would like to fill me in beforehand on what is the correct info.)

~Difficulty Rating System ~

5 point system

1 - Potential for loss is nearly nonexistant. No problem, n00b could even beat the computer w/o ever playing wangan. OR, if you have the right setting, you barely have to try. A no brainer.

2 - Potential for loss is minimal. But if you mess up bad, you can still lose. You have to try a little bit. Knowing how to take a particular turn, or a slight adjustment in settings or approach will get you the win.

3 - Potential for loss is moderate. Avoiding loss will require knowing the course well, and not making mistake near end of course (We all know that one.)

4 - Potential for loss is high. Avoiding loss will require setting calculation (based on optimal course/opponent setting), knowing the course very well, knowing traffic/roadblock/hazards, and not making foolish mistakes.

5 - Potential for loss is extreme. Avoiding loss will require setting calculation (based on optimal course/opponent setting), knowing the course BASED ON OPTIMAL SETTING, knowing opponent's tendencies and lines, knowing traffic/roadblock/hazards, and not making any mistakes AT ALL.

~Organization Template~

*I will add car models when I can.

Stage - [Difficulty [DL=1-5]] - {Optimal HP} - Opponent/Location - Notes

>Tuning Recommendation (Current Power:Handling setting based on recommendation)

~The First (1st) Cycle~

>Basic Guide

This section deals with a basic overview of what you can do to get through the 1st cycle unshaded. The detailed guide is below, but it will take a while (and OTHER PLAYERS INPUT) to finish it.

- If you are New to Wangan (Or if you are new to WMMT2):

It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED YOU PRACTICE HAKONE WITH YOUR CAR ON TA OR OUTRUN TO GET A FEEL FOR IT BEFORE ATTEMPTING STAGES THAT ARE LOCATED IN HAKONE (ex. Stage 4). You may win by luck, but I have seen people lose unshaded on hakone stages due to lack of experience.

Also, if you are unfamiliar to the courses, you really should play through the game one with a car that you don't mind losing with. One of the best ways to hone your skills is by beating stage 1-80, then attempting to get an unshaded card. The computer is MUCH MORE AGRESSIVE, and this will allow you to understand all the new factors in WMMT2.

- Tuning Guide

I have seen people go all Power and succeed, but never have i seen anyone go all handling and even make it past stage 10. Therefore, my recommendation is to tune your card in this style: (p = power, h = handling)2p, 1h, 3p, 1h, 2p, 2h, 2p, 3h, 1p, 3h.  Or, in an organized fashion:

[In order of tune-up per stage]

Stage 1-5  = P, P, H, P, P
Stage 6-10  = P, H, P, P, H
Stage 11-15 = H, P, P, H, H
Stage 16-20 = H, P, H, H, H

Overall, tuning is a minor factor, but if you tune correctly, your life will be easier. I will fine tune these settings, as I will be using it for myself as well.

> The Computer Player

::shudder:: The computer is a lot more aggressive in MT2. The notorious R200 club members are infamous for their blocking mayhem, and even the Devil Z will slam into you during battle. Your best bet is to have prior experience with another card so you know what you're getting into. In the 1st cycle however, its not THAT bad, so you should be ok.

~Detailed Guide~

C Class:

Stage 1 - [DR =1] - Akio Asakura - (I forgot where) - No problem, just don't do a U~ie and you'll be fine.

> Tune = POWER (1 Power, 0 Handling -> 320 HP/b)

Stage 2 - [DR =1] - Kochan Takahashi - Daiba Downhill? - Also no problems, make sure to take advantage of your hp and blast down straightaway (LoL, yah, at 320 hp).

> Tune = POWER (2 Power, 0 Handling -> 340 HP/b)

Stage 3 - [DR =1] - ? - ?

Seriously, I dont know the stages anymore. I will replay them and write them down when I can. Refer to the basic guide above the detailed guide for instrcutions.

QUOTE (alivangelion13)
Do you realize I actually invented the term "Gacha"? There's a game called GachaGaChamp (which to this day is still my favorite game, i've played it since forever), and it involves slamming two joysticks rapidly around and around in mini-games. I remember seeing someone do that in WMMT, and I said "wow, that guy can gacha well...lol". AND so it came to pass, the world now has accepted the term Gacha. You may now thank me for such a well-chosen term.

:Tries to keep a straight face before hilarity ensues:

Here's a link to the machine as well.

QUOTE (alivangelion13)
Seriously, i've seen people blow $100 in one day of WMMT2 here in the US. I've seen people go without food to pay for wangan, pull overnighters for wangan.

I totally relate. How much time and money do you spend on wangan?

QUOTE (alivangelion13)
Well, i know its been a while, and we finally are starting school again. For those of you who don't know, Cal Poly is a university in california, which has the privelege of having a very well stocked arcade/food court. Last year we got WMMT 1, which is how the CPP Diamond Stars team came to exist. Now, we have 4 WMMT 2 machines (last I checked), and based on last year's experiences, there is always something new and interesting happening at the arcade. It's basically where we hang out between classes. Therefore, we're going to post our experiences in this new thread, since we probably won't be able to go to AI as much anymore.

Feel free to let us know if you want to visit. We'll try to be there and make it fun and exciting (which it usually is).

~Ali

QUOTE (alivangelion13)
Let's see how long before this thread gets closed biggrin.gif

This should be a fun thread. Please don't flame over who's better or whatever.

Anyway, I want to know who people think is the most fun/skillful/eccentric wangan player they know in their area, and describe them. I'm looking for unique people, just for fun. BE HONEST (And if you post about me, be sincere. <--Shameless plug, ITS MY F#%@$% BABY!). Here's the criteria:

1. Notoriety - How well known are they in the WMMT2 community? Are they famous for skill, or for ramming incessantly, or for sticking up for what they believe in etc etc.

2. Character and Style- Do they exude an aura of power? (if you can actually see it, you're insane. Call me.)  Can you feel their intensity while playing, to the point you're drawn into their pace. ("I can feel it. I can feel the speed. I can feel the wind...in the game...omg." - (LOL), after two hours of intense battling). Are they comical and funny, making people laugh all the time? Are they crazy? Do they have their own agenda that sets them apart?

3. Skill - How good are they at time attack? Battling? What hallmarks or acheivements prove their skill, in your opinion?

4. Creativity, Unique Traits - What sets them apart? They may not be the most skillful, but something they do gives them their own style. Have they done something in Wangan that has not been done before (worth mentioning)?

QUOTE (alivangelion13)
For those of you who don't know, AI is short for Arcade Infiniti, one of the hottest spots in Southern California (and possibly the US) for hardcore arcade action, and each new game that premiers here draws the best to gather and race, resulting in some of the craziest, funniest, and sometimes impossible stunts in WMMT2.

These, are the AI nights.

So, this thread is dedicated to discussing WMMT2 events and races you saw at AI (or any other local arcade for that matter).

I hope I can post this thread here, since we need some spicing up...

So...June 18, 2005.

AI was mad hot as usual, at around 10pm racers usually congregate to watch and play (like 20-30 ppl). Regulars usually take their thrones, and reign terror until someone is good enough to take them down. Tonight I saw a lot of cool stuff.

Event 1: OMFG YOU PUSHED ME...SO I PUSH EVERYONE ELSE! MUHAHAHA

Looks like ppl are now accepting pushing and bumping to an extent...and as Kaphis said many many times, it seems like a Rock-Paper-Chainsaw type relationship. My S30 can push an R32, but it gets pwned by Evo VIII (I think that was how it happened...), and RX-8 can push MR2, but MR2 can push S30, etc etc...Also, I think its worth mentioning that Mike did something very very cool the other night on C1 IB, he'll tell you guys later..

Event 2: Put up card. ::3 min later:: WTF WHERE IS MY CARD F@!#$!ERS

Don't put up your real card (or any card you care about). People take it at AI. At least, at 11pm they do. :Sniff: I miss my subway card...

Event 3: ALI    vs    ALI    vs  ALI    vs  ALI
            700hp/b    700hp/b    700hp/b    700hp/b
            A1 R killer  A1 R killer  A1 R killer  A1 R killer

Yah...it happens. And something tells me those cars aint from Kitami...What the..?!::Muffled scream::

Rico Suave (Hakone guy): And they'll never know either....MUHAHAHAH
Kouichi Kijima: Yeah...can you give me my RX-7 now so it can go die at the last second like a sissy -1 BILLION...?

Event 4: Put Card Up. Go play some game to waste time...:5 min later: Wow he won, i'll play another game:10 min later: Wow he's pretty good: 20 min later: Omg man ok now cmon::30 min later:: F@!#!$ S!@#!$ LOSE ALREADY! LOOOSSEEE!!!::1 hr later:: All I need is a piece of his hair...Got it!::1 hr 2 min later::: POKE NEEDLE INTO VOODOO DOLL....HA! My turn.

Seriously, if you win more than 10x, the chair should just turn onto its side and dump you off, and spit your card out and not accept it until someone else plays ® to me...here I come namco

Event 5: I leave to play other game. Come back, Mike = 10x win, Everyone Else = Get Mike off.

Don't leave Mike unattended. He might actually fuse with the machine, become one with the WMMTness, you can actually see him in the car. Its kinda freaky. And when he finally loses, there's this deadened look in his eyes, like something has died within his soul.

So everytime you beat Mike, he dies a little inside...hmmm...

Event 6: Hakone @ 815hp

Seriously, doesnt work for battle, unless everyone does it. Even then, you'll be sure to get the Destroyer title, since you'll pretty much break your eardrums from the ::DAFUNGTHUDGOMBOOMMMMMZORZ:: Slamming sound from hel.

Event 7: How I say "GG".

I bow to my opponents as a sign of wisdom and respect. Others scream loud, obscene comments about how they pwnzorzed the universe with a car. And some people just look at the machine, acting all hardcore, don't even shake your hand or anything, as they look at the screen, 4th/4....MUHAHAHAHAH...

Event 8: Whose turn is it? Ok i'll go. (No u went already)::wtf its MY TURN::<My Card is up there> *I put my coins in* "F@#$ that i'm playing Drummania"

Yah, this happens. How we resolve it: Jan-Ken-Pwn.

I'll post more later. I'm tired now....

Go wild.

I remember there was once a thread on best battlers in your area that went a little haywire, so let's go with Arcades that i know this time, complete with player ratings WHICH ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND OTHER VARIABLES OUT OF MY CONTROL. Use this as informative guide, not a matter-of-fact medical journal publishing.

*See bottom of guide for Player Level Explanation!

~ Arcades - SoCal ~

*Ontario Mills

This is more of an informative thing, I recall that the steering wheels have a problem where they go to the right when in netural position. Confirmation is needed on which sides this occurs, and from what i remember, the players weren't that hot because of that. Keep me posted!

Super Arcade - Players level = 2/3

Willy - his outbound is quite good, and he likes to play fair, so try not to bump. If you can catch him.

CLONE - I forget these people's cars, but then again, people seem to have many different ones w/ the same name. So Clone's usually got a time attack record somewhere on your local So cal machine. Or Exile...lol.

PETER - A true Legend from Initial D, PETER also plays WMMT. Don't underestimate him...(I wonder what the combined total amount of money would be from the number of losses to PETER from ID...::shudder:smile.gif

Arcade Infiniti - Player level = 3-4

EXILE - Ah, yes. EXILE. You can't help but think The Highway Devil Lord (I know, he's Holy, but hey, he kills everyone). Notoriously skilled, Exile has crushed players with his Celsior and when necessary his "holy car", and while he takes those crushed player's playcards and shreds them in half as proof of his dominance, Wangan players begin to lose hope in ever playing at AI in peace. All accusatory jokes aside, seriously, the guy is one of the very best, so if you find yourself in the seat next to him, pray to Pac-Man.

MSZ - He's pretty good too. smile.gif

Random Arcade Junkie - There are many good battlers you and i dont even know about. You'll find a lot of them here, but it would be best to go on a popular night, say friday or saturday.

Camelot Golfland - Player Level = 2-4

MIKE - Yes, MIKE is here. He plays well. He knows his stuff. Hell, people run in fear when he comes near the camelot machines...there's war, and then there's the aftermath of MIKE. Nice guy though, so don't worry. He won't make you feel like you'll never be good at the game. I think.

W3NCH - Rumors of W3NCH sweep throught the castle walls, and people warily look at the door in abject horror he may arrive. Adamant poster and great battler, W3NCH can play WMMT. See his world time attack. You may now scream.

Thanh - Self-proclaimed disciple of MIKE, Thanh is training to up his TA time and his battle skills. Anyone who learns from MIKE probably has some skills, so try Thanh out and find out for yourself.

The Cal Poly Arcade - Player Level = 4

*Before I begin, i'd just like to add that these people have an arcade to go to BETWEEN CLASSES. They do play in between those classes. They eat lunch there. They sleep there. They do their homework while racing. They talk to their girlfriends while doing time attack runs over and over. They have a strong network, and everyone is on the lookout for potential battlers. Due to the congregation of equally motivated peers, and a food court hosting all a gamer ever needs 20 steps away, this arcade hosts some of the top players in So Cal in WMMT. Prepare yourself, because this is where they rumble.

And they go all out. Welcome to Cal Poly.

DEX - DEX is the sleeping giant that only comes out to play when someone shows potential. Unfortunately, when DEX races, its a no holds barred cage match. One mistake, and you're gone for good. Fair play is encouraged by all Cal Poly racers, but don't expect him to play nice if you're not a regular. Expect intense battles.

JLNSY (ZEN) - The ruthless assassin (he wears gloves), ZEN has both friends and foes. His battling might be considered slightly unethical, but that's his style. That doesn't stop him from battling anyone who's got ACCEPT VS on their side. The rule at Cal Poly is that you play however you want, and don't complain about others (Unless they are breaking the machine). If you can't handle bumping, turn Boost on. If you say you didn't know they would, either watch them race, or don't take the chance. That's the rule. ZEN plays to win. You better do the same.

KRIS - You might think that just because he seems nice and friendly before the game he might play the same way. Oh dear heavens are you gonna die. The intensity of KRIS's battles is such that you feel the adrenaline pumping with every turn, thinking "Don't mess up, Don't mess up". A rarity nowadays, KRIS plays only when his Wangan buddies call him up. Don't miss out if you see him, but then again, you gotta ask yourself one question: Is today a good day to lose all your change?

RANDYBNR32 - He's Randy. He plays Wangan. He beats lots of people. He's on the same level as Dex. He's not like Zen. He's not like Remie. He's not MonkeyBear. Happy? (I"M UPDATING THIS FOR WMMT2, so say byebye to this thread)

Randy MonkeyBear - SHIFT. FOR. JUSTICE!

LANCE - All I can say is: looks can be decieving.

KTARO - Once a newcomer under the guidance of DEX, KTARO is now a full-fledged battler with rivaling skills.

FERNO - Considered a "Newcomer" by Cal poly players. Newcomer = has not gotten top 20 world record time yet. Don't worry, we're talking time attack. Battling's a whole different story...

Finally, there is one more player, but he really sucks. Don't even think about playing him, its a waste of your time. No one even knows who he is, so it doesn't matter. All of the time attacks on the machine with his name were done by other players who forgot their cards at home, and his battles were all against middle school kids on field trips who couldn't reach the pedals. So if you find an ALI in any shape or form on any machines, don't worry about it. If you mention him, battlers will tell you how much he sucks, so ask around, you'll hear some funny stories...

~ NorCal Arcades ~

(*By W3NCH) Golden Token Amusement, San Diego.
Player level : 1-3

DRIFT - Micah, roughly 12 years old. I managed to drop him into 3'40s on the New Belt. Drives an Rx-7, tries to get battles any way he can. Resorts to fishing or ripping up beginners if I'm not there to put him in his place with my GDB/MR-2. I frown upon the fishing.

QUICK - Garrett, slightly older than Micah. Drives an EvoVIII. Rarely seen him battle or TA.

Chris - See left, son of the owner. Holds a Destroyer title on his Supra of all things, 2'56s on the C1. Turned him towards MR-2, there's potential if he's got the drive.

Legnd - Tim, FD3S Rx-7 driver. I haven't seen him for a few months since I wasn't even capable of pushing under 12'20 on the Metro, that was a long time ago.

JofSD - John, one of the few players that actually thinks during a battle, what he lacks in a driving line will be made up in his ability to strategize during a boost on battle to make you into a sandwich.

CAPP - Total scrub, holds a Holy Emperor title but doesn't deserve it since he races/fishes his friends each time to the 22km course. Can't even keep up with me on the C1 boost on, milk him for battles.

W3NCH - Ed, Me. Super n00b here. (Yeah Right ~ALI) Member of PN.WMMT along with Mike.

~Player level explanation~

1 - Players frequently lose to yellow namco coupes while insisting on slamming the gearbox out of commission, thus driving away any hope for other nooB players who want to race together.

*Race Together mode is when you are such a nooB that it seems more like you are trying to destroy the walls, the other player's indestructible car, and the Evil Yellow Cars (Even more indestructible) than to actually have a race. Entertaining only if it is not the main event every day for hours on end.

2 - Players can hold their own against the computer and each other, but the refined technique just isn't there. *This category is also reserved for those special arcades where non-FT nooBs seem to enjoy driving directly into your car right before the finish, after 22 km (of course, the longer it is, the more play time, why not 7 minutes of Boost On straightaway action? Don't get me wrong, its a good course, but you know what I mean.), with which they may win the race and proceed to boast about their well-earned star to their supporting nooB friends.

3 - Players are good. Everyone has a track they do very well on, and usually time attack times are competitive. You'll find great battler's regularly, but not the world record holders.

4 - Here is where the legends reside. The holders of top 10 world records. The battlers who put on the greatest show, and make possible what you thought couldn't be done. Their technique is refined by hundreds to thousands of battles and time attacks. Even the computer shivers in fear. They either have their name plastered all over the time attack, or there are signs of resistance from upcoming stars. They might post on all the forums, or have their own team ready to take out anyone in their arcade. Either way, you know the masters are there. To ursurp the throne is up to you, but one thing's for sure: they won't go down without a damn good fight.

~Final Notes~

That's pretty much what I know, and like I said, i'm just telling you guys what i think, so save your ranting madness for people who deserve it. Don't go all crazy if your name isn't up here, I don't know everyone, and I may have forgotten some people. I'll add more when I find more stuff. And don't post stuff about how Player F@!3R did something mean, or if Player ____ is not that good, or flame player Roke for whatever. Just post people who make the game fun and challenging in your area. I leave the rest to you.

Sounds like a plan...lol, if anyone from cal poly reads this guide (ALI you get it for getting 1st on C1 outbound, look at w3nch's link and see what happened after muhahaha, ) and gets mad just post here and i'll change it, it's all in good humor and creative flair. Anyone actually seen ALI play btw, i dont want to compliment him smile.gif

A late answer is, he (zen) wears gloves cause each driver on their team has their own style, and he likes wearing gloves (He kinda does look like an assassin its kinda cool). *Team currently known as the Diamond Stars, heard thats changing real soon. smile.gif

Wrong.

QUOTE (alivangelion13)
Lol i hate to admit it but ALI used to do that...his battles are really cool, its like there's tension in the air, and everyone gets into it, and he's made some crazy comebacks, like unbelievable no way he could still win with boost off ones. But he usually loses so other people can get stars and stuff, damn guy.

Anyway, slight update to the guide, ogdsn0 now has a better description, and Thanh HAS BEEN FIXED...again.
