So a air filter solved a good bit of your 'lack of power' problems? pinch2.gif

Isnt it funny how all problems are fixed with a simple cheap fixes.

Even though that engine bay is WAY busier and more cluttered than mine, it sure looks worlds better. I think if I bring this Z to a show anytime soon I'm just going to leave the hood closed, and use the "its stuck" excuse.

After the block gets machined itll be assembly time.

Update i figured out what im going to do for fuel.

Ill post up the info i used to get to what i needed so that others can use it.

Courtesy of SupraCenteral (Note i plugged in my own numbers and my setup as well.) Perhaps the mods can sticky this.

QUOTE
First, we start with a Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (B.S.F.C.) rating of .60 lbs/hr for a turbocharged car. This is a measure of an engine's volumetric efficiency. We'd use a lower number (.50) for an N/A car. They just aren't as efficient.

Im looking for 550 at the wheels.

So we take the target HP (550) and multiply by a B.S.F.C of .60 lbs per hour for a boosted car = 330

Take 6 injectors running a max duty cycle of 80% = 4.8

Divide 330 by 4.8 = 68.75 lb/hr injectors

CC/MIN = LBS/HR X 9.71

So 68.75 x 9.71 = 667.5625 cc/min

And that works out just about right. 650 - 680 cc/min injectors is enough fuel to put down 550 at the wheels anyday.

Multiply injector flow rate by 6 = 412.5 lbs/hr fuel total needed to get there. Use the same calc above to get to cc/min (412.5 X 9.71) and you get 4005.375 cc/min of fuel.

To convert cc/min to lt/hour take 4005.375 and multiply by .06 = 240.3225 lt/hr

That's just a hair under what you can get out of a 255 lt/hr pump.

So use two, or what im doing run a single Bosch 040 or a MKIV TT pump intank and run a Bosch 044 inline. So lets see what we get.

Convert lt/hr to cc/min by multiplying by 16.6666667

So one Bosch 040 and a Bosch 044 = 600 lt/hr

600 lt/hr = 10000.00002 cc/min

Divide that by 6 and we'll see it will support 1666.6667 cc/min injectors

Divide by 10.5 to get lbs/hr, so 158.73 lbs/hr

From here it's easy to calculate what these theoretical injectors would support.

Horsepower = Inj Size (lbs/hr) x (duty cycle) / B.S.F.C.

So 158.73 x .80 / .60 = 211.64 BHP per injector

211.64 x 6 injectors = 1270~ horse

So a single walbro is just a hair above from being enough. You might get away with it, might not. I wouldn't push it. And my setup can produce enough fuel for 1270 horsepower.

Just plug in the flow rates for any other pump you are looking and you'll see if it will work.

I'll take a good look at what I'll need after school/work today, I dont want to be cutting it close with the 550cc injectors, I want room for safety reasons.

Not to be a nitpicking bastard, but why does every Supra guy insist on leaving the timing belt cover off? dry.gif

Its just a couple sprockets... sprockets that can get FODed out. I actually saw an interesting solution in a mag the other day, clear timing belt covers. I don't know how long they would last until they got cloudy and fogged up though...

I have your answer biggrin.gif most of have pulled the head at some paint for one reason or another when we put it back we leave it off to time the car at least on 7m's. Well in order to put it back on and im not joking the thermostart cover has to come off. So its a matter of laziness to put it back on, i hate dripping coolant but oh well. I plan to buy a clear timing cover wink2.gif you wait and see youll want one too tongue.gif

lol stop being a whore then embrace yourself within the A70 chassis hell lol if you wanna be old school find a MA46 should suit your fancy on old school imports. Wouldnt it have been ironic if Akio drove a MA46 CelicaSupra instead of a S30

Nah, I like A70s a lot more. Maybe, just maybe, someday... I was toying with the idea of getting a 1JZ or 2JZ for the Z (instead of an RB) and dropping it in, then getting a cheap IS300 as a beater sedan. That way I have interchangeable parts, and a fun "practical" car. That's for the future though. As much as I'd like to get a Supra or something else, my girlfriend has already made it clear that she's going to break out a huge dildo and rape me if I get another project car... well, something like that. At this point I think its the safer option to just stick to one car. Besides, after all the effort I put into this S30, I don't want to get rid of it anytime soon.

@Oddman: poor guy... Shouldn't it be you that's doing the ra... you know what. Never mind. I know I will have to get J^2 a project build someday. Also if I ever got a Supra, God knows, 1J or 2J... III or IV... I'm gonna have to give it infinity billion hp for no particular reason other than it amuses me.

I think the reason he is considering a toyota engine is because he wants reliable big power. Not more RB'ish problems.
