Help! I remember you mentioning of repainting you're Jada's version of 240Z die-cast model car from black to blue; and to begin with that you're going to strip of the original paint. Are you going to use a strip solvent used for real cars? Won't that corrode the softer die-cast type metal? What's the exact name of strip solvent you can recommend?

Well, first you need to seperate the shell from the body. Take an exacto knife and carefully remove all of the plastic parts (like headlights, taillights, windows). Now, you can go from here and do it a few different ways...

#1 - You can simply take some steel wool and scuff up the surface. I have seen this turn out well, depending on your skill.

#2 - You can buy some paint remover that is safe for plastics/metals. This is the easiest way to fully strip all the previous paint and get a nice bare surface. It's easy to find, as well.

#3 - You can just be lazy and paint over the existing paint...wouldn't really recommend that.

After that, paint the car however you want. Clear coat it if you want. Then, re-attach all of the other pieces you removed, and hand-paint anything else you need to or missed.

Also, in the future de not double post. Just use the edit feature, and edit your previous post to add the new stuff. It saves wasted space, and it's just common courtesy.

Funny you mention that b/c I'm looking at a pic I took of one I saw while driving at like 3am about four days before you mentioned it originally. I had to take a pic of it from the back. Amazing that I've never seen one in person, let alone, on the road at 3am

a blue version of this car has been released maybe around 2008. click this link that leads you to jadatoys official website. sadly, this is currently available on US shores (i think - or maybe it is now somewhere in your country, proudly my country of origin, but i will be here in the US for the meantime). I purchased one recently from eBay and just got it right at my doorstep this morning. Its a nice piece. but if you have a strong eye for detail, compare the Devil Z in the anime and this model car, it should have:

(a) blue fender wheel well flares
(cool.gif blue ducktail style rear wing
© no headlight covers

Either way, since its blue color is magnificent, you should somehow be satisfied. The wheel design is also the same watanabe types, only that, with jadatoys, its too bling-bling in color for my taste. look at this model from jada as a WHOLE, and you will definitely like it somehow.

here's the link:

Go ahead and check! ;-)

I own a red Z. I called it, 度胸のZ or Courage Z. Mine has a black painted hood, Watanabe type rims and headlight covers.

Here are the pictures I took,

Double muffler... o.O
Should looks even better if the rims is painted gloss black.

The white diecast looks nice too.

I remember having recommended finding the 1:24 Jada Toys Nissan (Datsun rather) 240Z in its BLUE livery. Here's a few photos for your reference. It may resemble 80% of the Devil Z, thanks primarily to its body color, BUT notice the black wheel well fender flares, black ducktail spoiler, very chrome rims (too shiny, although they are still watanabes) and headlight covers. By the way this car is now included in the Dub City line up, unlike the first releases which were in their Option-D line up.

If you already have any Jada Toys Datsun 240Z (any color) in your collection, you can actually repaint that to its Devil-Z Midnight Blue livery and this time you can take note of the details like i've said, and key-out the correct trim colors and parts. Oh and by the way, once you open this car's hood, it actually houses a turbocharged 4 cylinder engine, kinda resembling that of the SR20... either way, it still looks cool!

Well, anyway, here they are for your reference:

For the quality of the photos my apologies for the noise (speckles) in the image, this is as far as my point-and-shoot digicam can go...

Four months later though... this is what it has become:

For this one, the particular modifications were on the wheels. The use of Watanabe wheels with black spokes and chrome deep dish rims; red hub cap and plain metal wheel lug nuts. Nice...

Anyway, that's all... Thanks for looking... happy.gif
