Just Wondering whether you would battle with boost on or off.

Playing alot of initial D 3, where i had battle, i say about 90% of my battles have been with boost off

But since playing Wangan i have noticed almost next to none people will step on brakes.

Just wondering is it the same in your area, and personally do you battle with or without boost

Boost is for LOSERS And will always be *if all players are good* If you guys are bad boost on would be fine or lets say if all 4 players stink at one track lets say "hakone" boost would be fine.

But if all are good drivers etc... Racing with boosts is such a low thing..

I mean in order to win do you really need a push ??? or magic boost.. I always break

we play with boost on, mainly because I still suck, so my friends let me have boost on.
but we did try a boost off a couple of times.
and it did make a difference, coz once you are left behind, you will mostly left behind lol.
that's what happened in my case tongue.gif

if you want to prove to everybody that you're the fastest...

TA is the way to go. You can't run ideal lines in battle because of opponent and traffic.

Battle is all about having fun.

For me, I play boost on so I can screw other people up and still have fun.

Looks like all of you are fair guys.

Like see this *race at my best track*:

1. Boost on : I was all the time on 1st place. But somehow the rest second by second were getting on me and passing me and then I passed them and on and on. A race like this means you will always have people around you no matter the SKILLS.

2. Boost off: they were killed, 90+ meters behind.

Boost is unfair because it works like a slingshot ... A: Get pushed... Then B: ... then C: Letters = cars So whoever gets pushed before the finish line wins if all of them were right next to each other.

Winning with boost is "LUCK" no "SKILLS"..

I like boost off...
It really trains you to make no mistakes...
It's either you give ur very best or getting left in the dust...

boost off. like that guy said it trains you to not make mistakes. as soon as you make a mistake against someone good it's game over.

which makes it not fun.

Especially being able to bump traffic and/or slam opponents, which you can't really do in stuff like iD, so boost off isn't such a big deal there.

But say the race starts, the guy in front of you throws a van, and bam, you hit it. Even if you're much better than him/her, it's over, there's no coming back from that, which isn't a measure of skill anyway.

Boost on, you have to be good until the very end. I prefer boost on alot more for this reason.

yes, i so agree with MaxX

boost on ftw, makes it more fun.

you wouldn't like to be rammed into a truck during boost off ~

If you want to prove that you're fast, theres time attack.

battle is meant to be fun so we play boost on, and do everything we can to screw other people up / avoid being screwed ourselves.

One thing I like about boost being on is that if you stay ahead the entire race, you know you were better than the other guy (or maybe he got really unlucky). Keeping a 50+ metre lead on Hakone against 3 others with boost is always cool.

Boost off may be Luck, but that is if your opponent is good
if it's like me and my friends, who do crashes at red turns, then I don't think it's luck at all tongue.gif
if you don't crash at all, then yes I would probably say it's luck, but then again, it's a bit of skill to see who is better at cornering..

I drive very becareful in bosst off, many ppl can run in perfect condition including me, I rather pull out the padel rather then the risk to hit the tracfic, and I can't stop my beating heard, need so consentrade, because of 1 of my opponent lost concentrade of too confident, he hit wall in the last corner. I just right behind him.

well, Namco didn't just put boost in the game just for the heck of it, those 2 serve a purpose, as well as pros and cons

Boost

PROS
1) For a highly skilled player, it keeps them at their toes, knowing that any moment their opponent will pass them, thus giving them the impression to do the necessary defensive manuevers to prevent from being overtaken
2) gives noobs a fighting chance when faced off with a fisher
3) gives players some sort of recovery when the opponent is nasty enough to ram them into the wall or onto traffic
4) provides enjoyment and fun for multiplayer battles

CONS
1) a noob can pwn you if you're not careful enough
2) some players win by luck, not skill

Boost Off

PROS
1) a game where skill determines the better player
2) when in the lead, the player can fully concentrate on his driving, not the player right up behind him
3) puts noobs (especially cocky and arrogant ones) in their place
4) players drive in all seriousness

CONS
1) no or minimal fighting chance when mr. nasty player rams you into walls and traffic
2) a fisher's dream come true
3) ONE traffic mistake and your 100% DONE! - The-chosen-knight

try to do a pvp race with and without boost, but let your opponent get 500m ahead of you, then you will know the difference

or better yet, let 'im have 1km advantage at the start, then you would know what i'm talkin' 'bout
