Recently, at the back of my mind, the idea of Wangan Midnight Live is not a thing of little consideration. Initial-D Live came out quite late... but that's ok. As for my comment on that movie, im ok with it, its just that it looks like as if the production had to be rushed to catch up with the heat that Initial-D anime started... for my opinion, it just looks as if something is lacking.

Wangan Midnight Live is not an exception! A remake today can indeed benefit from modern day cinematic technology. For one; the build of the cars. Remember the Devil-Z look alike from Tunerzine Magazine (you can visit a review at: DEVIL-Z APPEARS in TURBOMAG post)... that car or something as good as it can be used. Porsche body kits today can be replicated, what's rare now can be remade... There are so many factors that can help improve the late-80s iteration of Wangan Midnight Live....

honestly, a good movie is not made out of digital effects, get FNF2 for example... LOUSY action from beginning to end, no matter how much they used the effects, it was almost impossible to not hate the characters. Also, the race scenes were soo exaggerated that it was hateful.

Sure wangan midnight would be more of a race film than a acting one, but, if the director doesn't manage to recreate the same atmosphere lived on the manga, the movie is bout to be a shame...

I vote for "just dont make it", it will only be destroyed by bad directors. Maybe if the Wangan Anime people help out, maybe

The "Devil Z" from the Wangan Midnight movies was pretty much spot on...

The movies are pretty good in their own right. Only reason I could see a remake, would be to cash in on any kind of craze the recent anime might have started. If it ain't broke, don't fix it imo.

If they did a good remake, I wouldn't turn my nose up at it, tho.

I agree with you Jon.

As you say, if they do a movie, let's hope it's filled with action, and not boring like other animes make into movies..... (Spiderman is one of my examples, I didn't like 1st movie, and I didn't go to see the rest).

Looking back at the Initial D movie, it kind of blew but all in all I'd see it's worth seeing.

Like stated above, the key to Wangan is the atmosphere and supernatural undertones surrounding these odd characters. Also, I'd say Wangan is somewhat of a difficult movie to make since there isn't really like a bad guy.

I mean, being faster then the Blackbird, sure, but other then that?

Theres not an intense plot in the movies really. I've watched the second Wangan Midnight movie, and its mostly just dialogue. The movies were made in a different time. I think they should stay there. I tend to enjoy the old-school feel that all the movies had and I dont think replicating it again would be a good idea. I think the anime is on a good start. Theres no need to "initialize" it.

I never saw any of the movies... sad.gif

But the Initial D live-action movie wasn't too great in my opinion, so I don't see how they could do any better with this. If I could only see some of the original Wangan Midnight movies...
