Just sharing this incident involving two hidden cars (Hiace and R2) Last night I was playing Outrun with this Hiace So I could up its rank (by the time I finish, it should go up to S8). A few minutes into the games 3 newbies decided to play together using guest cars (the other 3 cabs were empty). Feeling a bit of mischief I ended my Outrun session and decided to join in, with a guest HiAce, to the shock of the 3 (an onlooker who was watching me play Outrun LOL'd when it happened). Race was in Osaka, and the 3 were doing a lot of ramming, but overall just couldn't race properly so I eventually beat them. The fact that they were beaten by a HiAce (which had half the horsepower of each of the 3 cars used by the newbies, which included an Evo and an R34) made the whole thing funny Some time later two foreigners decided to play (also with guest cars), and I felt like doing the same, this time with a guest R2. First game was in Osaka, and was also a ramfest. The two were especially trying to ram my R2, but I outdrove them on the corners and won, which must have humiliated them, because they challenged me again, this time in Nagoya, but the same results happened and they quit. Then a guy with a semi-tuned Z34 decided to fish me and did so in Osaka, in fact his race was so lame - First he set his car to 800hp, then he gave me a head start, then just screamed passed me afterwards, then occasionally slowing down weaving across the track as if to taunt me before I just decided to hit the brakes and let him win. This time I decided some payback was in order and I decided to fish him back, with my FT'd R2 First race was Nagoya, then Yokohane downwards. In both races, I beat, no, I absolutely DEMOLISHED him (he trailed by 400+m! apparently getting clobbered by traffic ). He left after the 2nd race, probably feeling humiliated. @bless Somehow I don't rate the Corolla very well, since I have very little success with it compared to the R2. In fact the Corolla UNDERSTEERS in my experience (i.e. as if it doesn't want to turn), while the R2 is good at sneaking around tight spaces and slipping through traffic, both characteristics giving me a few surprise wins in a number of VS battles. QUOTE (drazier101 @ 8 minutes, 10 seconds ago) | On unlocking cars using the shifter, shall I stop on the neutral for at least a second every time I enter a number on the code or should I just go straight on the next number on the code? |
You should put your shifter in neutral on the manufacture select screen.

QUOTE (SJFC143 @ Apr 27 2009, 09:15 AM) | I don't know why but a lot of people find it hard to use a hi ace . but it's really easy to use it , dunno is it hard for anyone else ? |
Probably because
1. The perspective is different - 3rd person view is very high. Admittedly I found it disorienting at first, and the blinking warnings (eg red turn, yellow turn, blue turn, hazard) can block your view of the road in this mode (hence sometimes I use First Person View instead). 2. 4-speeds. Can be confusing to those used to 5 or 6-speed. 3. It's BIG, so it's a tight squeeze if you try the technique of driving between a traffic vehicle and the wall.
And what's more, I found out that in TA and Boost Off, the HiAce is a slug, even with the guidance of the Tach.
Of course there are those who could master it well. Two friends of mine tried my HiAce and were surprisnigly good with it - one in Hakone who finished 2nd in a 4-way battle against more manuverable cars, and another friend won 2 4-way battles, one in C1 (forgot the other).

For me, the Hiace is bloody easy to control now. After having HURRR for so long, I've finally learned to control it even at 825 on C1 or Hakone with ease.
