I dont think this is better than wangan on ps3. Wangan got everything the graphics, the sound and more exciting battles. If you guys wanna play a drift game you should try gt5 (gran turismo 5) its very good and also you can drive from inside the vechile like real. A ps3 steering would be nice and enjoyable too.

Have you played it? Probably not...

Anyways, I've played it a for a bit and I can say that it's a blast playing online and LoTS makes me want to pull my hair out. It's rather tricky and the CPU boost is insane at some parts.

So far I'm having fun with it. I would recommend that you use a wheel if you're going to play. I used the controller and I just can't get used to it. I switched to using a wheel and I beat a bunch of people on LoTS and improved my TA times greatly.

Don't be on the fence about this one...BUY IT! w00t2.gif

Initial D Extreme Stage > PS3 Wangan Midnight.

I own both.

But that's just my humble opinion.

Wangan Midnight isn't Maximum Tune though. If Maximum tune was out, it'd be far superior to iD4.

iD4 is absolutely horrendous. Why am I gaining speed while grinding against a wall? Why can I beat every race on happo by staying in 3rd, hitting walls like crazy, never letting off the gas, and just plain not trying? Because of bad physics and a terribly forgiving system that encourages poor play and rarely penalizes you for not racing properly.

If I slam into a wall, I lose no speed. If I grind against a wall, I gain speed. If I hit a wall for more than one full second with the rear or front-end of my car, I magically lose EXACTLY 10kmph in speed as some magical number, every time. But what happens if i hit my rear or front end of the car and just bounce off the wall? Nothing, I maintain my speed.

This air-cushion shit is terrible. Cars warp in-front and behind one another when they're trying to move in front. You can't push a car, you can just hope that he doesn't move in front of you before you get your nose in front of his or else you're both warping to different locations.

Another thing with happo. Why am I suddenly losing traction immediately when I turn when all other courses offer a little more time before you start drifting out of control? The turns aren't any more severe, they're less severe than other courses.

Absolutely ridiculous.

because your not braking
IDAS4 1.5 physics are set up so if people do not brake for a specific period of time on a specific corner an oversteer will kick in which will send you into the wall and give you an accel penalty, you dont notice it.. you think your losing no speed but your car will actually be accelerating a hell of alot slower than it would be if you did not hit the wall(depending on the wall penalty on happo, i havnt played idex yet)
the wall penalties on akagi and akina are quite great, the physics only allow you too wallrape 1 corner of akina dh, rest is braking and turning with the stupid in in out line
however on irohazaka there is pratically no wall penalty at all as you can tell
idex physics are from idas4 1.5 .. a majority of courses dont use any wall contact too achieve fast times...

Happo's "hard" (and I use the term loosely because again, I beat everyone by sitting in 3rd gear and hitting walls the entire race while never letting off the gas), because the physics and oversteer mechanics magically change for just that course.

You'll find yourself spinning out right when you start turning, whereas it takes alot more time to achieve this on other courses with more severe turns.

I'd make a video to show you how ridiculously retarded this game is, but I have no way of recording input from my TV.

Learn to brake, and it's not so insane. Simple as that.

because your accel lags, you don't get proper acceleration
and braking through the corner so it doesn't get oversteer is faster, you dont lose so much speed in corner and results in better exit
and one of the reasons your hitting the wall and not losing speed is because your going too slow in the first place
you may be able too beat story mode with wallraping and understeering everywhere but one thing, initial d arcade stage story mode in every game has always been piss easy.. especially on the first level =.=
even courses that require wallrape (irohazaka) require braking during the wallrape, so if it does turn out later down the track when people figure happo out that there is wallrape corners braking is still used either way

Oh, I didn't realize that going 120-130kmph wasn't fast enough to have your car slow down at all from going head-first into a solid wall, thanks for pointing that out...

your over exaggerating all this talk of the physics and your actually not going head first straight into the wall then eh?

I saw a guy wall raping.

So I decided to try it myself.

There's no way in hell you're running the whole course 120kmh all over the walls.

110kmh TOPS.

ID physics aren't as bad as you are trying to make them out to be. If you actually use the brake, you can get way faster through Happo. What is your time on Happo? Killing the wall like that, I'm sure it's something pretty horrible.

found it pretty odd today that in my local mall here, I saw the TV advert for extreme stage playing on a TV. I don't think it's coming out in Aust, but was still being advertised.

Here's a video I put up, the quality sucks but oh well. There's actually a lot of good lighting effects but hard to see in the videos. things like the tail lights reflecting off the water from the ground, puddles of water in the distance on wet stages reflecting the light, exhaust flame lighting up rear of car, blurring tail lights, etc... you can even turn on/off headlights although most ppl don't know how to do it (hold o for 5 secs)
