Didn't see a thread about this so I thought It could be an interesting discussion. Basically, what are your favorite feature anime films and why? Here's My few: - Macross - Do You Remember Love
This film is a terrific story which revolves around the story of invaders attacking earth to re-capture their lost battle fortress after it crashes on earth. Humans have found the wreck and are using the alien technology to re-build the fortress into earth's first Super Dimension Fortress (the SDF-1). The movie is great because it's got great characters, love triangles, and it's a little more realistic than other mecha movies out there. It's down and dirty, main characters actually will die. They don't have super mechs or anything. But it's a complex story which is really worth watching. Soundtrack is quite good too.
- Akira
Who didn't love Akira, honestly? Another great story set in future Tokyo where Bosuzoku bikers of the future get tangled up in a strange plot to create super humans with psychic powers. The animation for the time of this movie is fantastic. I can't put my finger onto why this movie is so great, it just is XD
- Grave of the Fireflies
A touching story of a boy and his sister during world war 2 in Japan. After a bombing, they are left homeless and orphans. They are forced to live with their auntie who mistreats them. They eventually decide to go out and live on their own. It's a really sad story, but the characters are great, and your really start to feel for the main character. It's one of the most powerful anime films I've ever seen and has a strong message of anti war. This post has been edited by Midnight Star on Apr 14 2008, 09:05 PM

Im also a big Lupin the Third fan, and I must say Lupin the Third: Episode 0 First Contact is my favorite movie next to Castle of Cagliostro. Has anyone else seen them? Funny you mention Macross Plus: Movie Edition, my friend had me watch it as its one of his favorite movies and I also liked it a lot. Like Duo, it seems like a lot of my favorite anime movies are from Studio Ghibli, namely, The Cat Returns, Whisper of the Heart, Kiki's Delivery Service. And also, one of my all time favorites, Initial D: Third Stage.
