[SCROLL DOWN TO NEAR THE END OF THE POST FOR A TUTORIAL ON HOW TO MODIFY BGMS]
despite how the game sucks, I've done something to make it more enjoyable
I put MT1&2 music into the .cso and removed the crappy music

MT1&2 OST ver.
MT3 ver.

NOTE: IDSS is not hackable due to LBA protection
if you're able to compress music under 500kb, plz pm me and I might be able to make a custom IDSS

FAQ:
Q: what is LBA protection
A: to be brief, its a program that runs the UMD and check if the iso/cso/umd size is right. If the file is larger than the LBA restriction, the game will not play. But LBA is not restricted to games becoming smaller (ex: IDSS iso is about 1.1GB, compressed cso can be about 550Mb is playable, but over 1.1GB is not.)
Q: can the LBA be removed?
A: yes, but the game will not be playable
Q: by what means is "not playable"?
A: you enter the game and all you get is a black screen. your PSP doesn't brick and you can return to the XMB
Q: why does my PSP freeze when I play WMP?
A: make sure your PSP is set to M33 driver on the UMD setting and I recommend using maximum cpu setting b/c the game reads a large music file

here's the track list (there is a limit so I can't put everything in):
MT1&2 ver.
opening (MT2)
Entry (MT2)
Rival selection (MT1)
destination blackout
Nothing lives forever
another demention
Stream of Tears remix
Speed fanatic
decoration of demented
blue blaze
atheist of highway
total terror
result (mt1)
rival selection (MT2)
highway obsession
result (mt2)

MT3 ver.
opening (MT3)
Entry (MT3)
select (MT3)
black pressure
feel the moment
Love the morning sun
In your dream
Get you cornered
Evil Association
Phantom of Blue
Shrewd Critic
Wanna try one last time
result (MT3)
Inexhaustible Energy
Just Flat out

credit goes to me, genki, namco, Yuzo Koshiro, and Sony...
NOTE: you need a PSP with a suitable CFW to play this cso, do not ask me how to modify your PSP, this is no place to discuss such piracy.
for noobs, plz put the game into (your PSP drive):\ISO
if the folder does not exist, make one or backup everything onto your computer, format your memory stick, then put everything including the cso back on

TUTORIAL:
1. you must have: modded PSP with latest CFW, usb cable, a working computer

2. have a UMD/ISO/CSO file that you want to edit (we'll be using Wangan Midnight portable for the example). If you have a UMD, plz follow the process below, if you have a cso/iso, skip to procedure 3
2a. have the umd in the PSP drive, press select at the XMB to bring up the VSH, change the USB mode where it says "Memory Stick" to "UMD"
2b. go into USB mode, copy and paste the only ISO file inside to your computer

3. download UMDGen (preferably 4.0)

4. open UMDGen, click on open and click on your iso/cso
(from here on out, it will depend on each game where the music folder is. For now, we're going to use wangan midnight portable for the example, so process may vary)

5. click into the folder "PSP", then click into "" and finally, click into sound

6. those are the bgms in .at3 format

7. download "Goldwave"

8. download atracs 3 codec, in the download, there should be an .ini file or something, right click and click install

9. drag the music you want to put into the game into goldwave

10. click on file, save as, for the format, plz click on .wav, then for the output, scroll all the way down to atrac 3 44000hz, click save to where you can find it

11. rename the converted music to the name of the track you want to replace
(ex. feel the passion.wav rename into M04.at3) when the message ask you if its ok to change the file type, click ok)

12. drag the renamed file into the music folder to replace the existing file (when msg ask to overwrite, click yes)

13. click on save (any format's ok, cso or iso)

14. copy and paste your cso/iso into your memory stick, exist USB mode and enjoy your game!!

NOTE: I will try to perfect this tutotial when I have the time, somethings may not be said write, but you know what I mean...I wrote this based on memory, I don't have my PSP or laptop at the moment and I will update the tutorial when I have the chance

Thank you so much XD I'll wait out for the WMMT3 music one, but the music makes such a difference in the gameplay. No kidding. Just wondering if it's possible to do a custom start screen instead of it saying Wangan Midnight Portable, can it say Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3 portable. A custom boot would be super nice too.

yeah I know

I'm looking for Blackbird's theme, but it looks like no one has it recorded on video

I subscribe to some youtube ppl with high quality recording on WMMT3
maybe I should ask them? or record it myself with my cell phone lol

I might make a Midnight R version

Instead of this, why not just street supremacy? That game beats WMP. I know it's not related to WM but still, at least we're enjoying both the music and the game instead of just the music.. Right?

now building Initial D street stage with custom music

if u have suggestion, plz put it here
I have all of Initial D's music, so feel free to request (total up to 19 tracks, one per person plz)

I can change the battle bgm, select screen bgm, win, lose, rival character bgm, intro bgm, and credit bgm

but I cannot change the words on the bgm selection
(ex: it will still say Speedy Speed Boy even if I change it)

that's what I assume right now, I haven't began converting files or build a cso yet

Leaving this open and links active for now...but I would PM E86 and ask him if it's okay to keep this here. Over on IDW it was not allowed. I'm not sure what his opinion will be.

if u seen my post on idforums, I found out that IDSS has LBA protection
meaning that the game cannot be tampered with

if there's any other interesting games you want custom soundtracks, just request

when I have free time, I can replace them.

btw, cso or iso that has already been rebuilt will have errors if you try to rebuild it again

so, only mess with the original files

that would require a lot of advance programming despite how bad the graphics are

I only know how to replace a few images and songs at the moment..I haven't even take programming 101 yet, so don't get ur hopes up lol

I wanna make max tune on PSP after I learn some programming lol

bumped for future reference
expect a Midnight R OST ver soon

these 2 isos also seem to be moderately demanding, but it seems everyone forgot this thread
