QUOTE (Sailor Enlil @ 3 hours, 27 minutes ago) | Not a good idea for an arcade game. Tried it in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (I have the Logitech G25 Steerning Wheel which not only has a full 6-speed H-shifter, but a clutch pedal as well, both fully supported by GT5), but found it way too complicated to race, like trying to brake from 200kph down to 40kph under 5 seconds to tackle a tight left-handler while maintaining control. Best for this feature to be left to experts. |
its not as hard as ppl say it is. ive done it in the Ferrari F355 challenge arcade game..with clutch and 6MT. and for me, it was easy.
on topic: 6MT and clutch on MT would ruin the fun. MT imo, it suppose to be FUN, not realistic. and think about it, more parts = more parts to do maintenance on, therefore SUCKS. if you want realism or something with clutch and 5/6MT, get out of the arcade and hop into a real car. LOL

QUOTE (Kenji @ 1 hour, 36 minutes ago) | tht's way too expert... lol Even the clutch in BG is to up/down the gears, from what I heard. |
up/down gears? you mean like the "manual" like in Initial D? ive played BG4T before, and you can select either auto, up/down like ID or 6MT with clutch.

QUOTE (DDRFAN @ 4 hours, 30 minutes ago) | BG Clutch = you can still clutch while holding down the gas pedal.. real life = obviously won't work. BG Clutch in MT = ??? |

See my post again - it's Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, which is supposed to be very realistic. I did try the clutch feature of the Logitech G25 with that game, and ended up inadveredly going neutral a lot (if you try to shift without stepping on the clutch pedal properly or at all, it will go neutral). And there's the fact that in racing games, I'm used to left-foot braking, so adding a clutch pedal means having to go heel-and-toe braking, which is very hard for me to do in racing since it must be done so quickly (not to mention the brake pedal of the Logitech G25 is VERY HARD to step on to differentiate it from the clutch pedal). Unlike real life driving, I can drive with a clutch pedal, since I don't drive like a race driver in real life

yea i know you were talkin about GT5P, i was just using it as a comparison to Ferrari F355 LOL but yea ive played GT5P too, and its way more realistic than GT4 imo. so i get what youre saying.

Battle gear there's enough variables in gameplay to warrant a clutch. MT relies on a lot of minute differences between people of similar skill regardless of car that would only be complicated by introducing another mechanical piece that can break.
