Whats his set-up? The turbo and longblock ect.

It a stock 2.4 SRT engine, AGP (I think) exhaust manifold, forget what the turbo (Holset maybe) is but it's off some big truck, 4" exhaust, ported SRT intake, 1600cc injectors IIRC, SDS programmable EFI, water-to-air intercooler in the passenger footwell, A-568 trans.

Picked up another Shelby Z last weekend :) My buddy is getting the engine and trans, and I'm doing some work on his CSX in exchange for the rest of the car. Also looks like I'm gonna be picking up another Turbo Z here soon. I'll post up some pics soon as I get some.

Awesome! What year? Color? Is the second Turbo Z a parts car?

Sorry I dont haave picks of the shops project car, me and my dad dont get along very well, which makes it hard to get pics of his car. I'll grab some of the ACR SRT-4 though, its a TD.

Maybe a can sneak a pic of the longblock/trans too! ;)

Sorry to hear about you and your dad, hopefully you can ninja a pic or two though sometime :ph34r2: Definitely post up the SRT.

The new Shelby Z is black, the Turbo Z is another red one. It's a complete car, probably going to fix the shifter and check it out good, then re-sell it. I'm getting a '78 Power Wagon from the same guy, which is really what I was after, so I'm gonna (hopefully) sell the Daytona off again quick to get my money back and end up w/ a Power Wagon for free basically :)

My friend's Omni's hitting the dyno tomorrow at the Mitsu club dyno day. More pics will come!

[ Post merged on May 9 2009, 04:14 PM ]
I ended up frumrolling (70mph) my friend's Omni (@11psi) and walked away from it after my turbo spooled. I was certainly surprised, he borrowed my boost controller for the dyno, and while we were dialing it in, it felt a significant amount faster than my car. That weight difference must have really screwed with my brain.

I don't have pics up yet, but he put down 117WHP and 157WTQ at 10.5psi on a a low-reading Dyno Dynamics dyno running really rich (8-9A/F) in the top end.

Hmm, yeah that's really low. I'm guessing he doesn't have much done to it, but it should have a bit more than that. Even GLH-T's were 150 crank hp, I would expect 125-130 whp at least. I guess it could be an old wore out engine too lol. It is way rich though, most of ours run at 11.5 or close to it. Ask him what his setup up is and post it up, maybe I can help him out with it. Tell him to check the codes too, if he doesn't know how I'll post a link on it. Could be he has a bad MAP sensor or something.

Hence why I mentioned that it was a Dyno Dynamics dyno. Reads low as hell. My car's about the equivalent of a stock WRX right now, and the stock WRX that was there put down a whopping 143, so you get the picture.

I'd guess it actually puts about 135 down.

Regardless, he's got a plan to lean it out, one part is bumping the boost to 15psi, but I forget what else he said. Regardless, it means I have to drop that Evo fuel pump in order to keep up with him.

I haven't kept up w/ the different dynos and how they read, I assume the DD dyno reads similar to the Mustang dyno then?

And damn, he hasn't turned the boost up yet? lol Sounds like he just ran it bone stock, although it shouldn't be that rich on a stock tune, unless he swapped in some bigger injectors or something. Anyway, if he fixes it and turns the boost up to 15, it'll seem like a different car ;) The stock computer will cut out on him though, he will have to change it, have it chipped, or fool it.

Yeah, we'll see what happens.

Apparently when we raced he thought he jumped on me while my turbo was spooling, so he got off it, realized his mistake once I pegged full boost, and had to respool. He still thinks I'll win, but I won't at all be surprised if we're dead even. He didn't honk it off because, well, his horn's broken.

Well I finished the black interior swap in the red Shelby Z, or most of it. PITA but looks good. I'll post some pics once I finish fully and clean it good.

Made me mad though, I was planning on using the front seats from the donor car also, but apparently the seats became a 1/4-1/2" narrower between '86 and '87, so they wouldn't work :( There are some decent newer seats in a Lebaron vert at the yard that are dark enough blue to almost look black, I'll probably gank them for it.

Also ran it up the street and back, just a quick burst, 1/8 mile maybe. Runs out pretty good, spools and boosts fine I think and AF is good, but the steering is all over the road, feels like the rack is sloppy or something. I can have the wheel straight and hammer it, it'll torque steer like mad, then when I get it straight again the wheel is cocked, or seems to be. Doesn't feel very tight either, so I guess I'll have to do something with that.

The Shelby Zs are notorious for torque steer, but Im sure it isnt supposed to be that bad!

Post some pics of the interior swap.

They all were :) It can usually be remedied by centering the drivetrain properly and getting a good alignment on the front end.

And here's a couple pics of my friend's IROC R/T Daytona he just got.

As far as I know, it has:

-Full turbo back exhaust
-Chipped
-Air intake
-Boost controller

Atleast thats all I know off (Or what I saw) which was around the time of the video. I will have to get in touch with him and ask.

Nice, my buddy has an '05 2500, he just removed the particulate catcher and the muffler (basically straight pipe from the turbo back now), and installed a Smarty tuner.
