I have been playing the MT games since number two, and although I really only get the chance to play once, maybe twice a week, I have four full-tuned cards. That's a fair amount of money, considering back in the day it was $5 for a card then $2 per play at most places.

I like the idea of having my own cards that I have started from scratch, because everything that happened on that card was done by me. I guess if you like the idea of that then maybe the game has the appeal of a hobby behind it like I find it to be.

Not everyone has the money or time to commit to playing for so long from the beginning, so they opt for the rename. This has been said on here to death, but it's fine to have a rename as long as they don't brag that the stars and kilometers are all theirs.

The worst part about renames/dupes for me is, those with the legitimate battle stars are shadowed/don't appear at all on the cabinet listings by renames/dupes.

With that said, I have a rename now. It's an RX-8 for whenever I feel like TA'ing (GTO is terrible at TA except for Wangan).

The flipside I guess you could think to all this, is that it is just a game. There is more to life than video games - believe me! I gag whenever I read some of the posts on here from people, how serious they take this...but that's for another thread I suppose.

low stat rename is fine

but the high stat? i hate them.. wreck the machine ranking >_>
and usually the high stat owners brag about it as if they tune it themself >_>

i personally dont have any problem with renames, i have a few myself. sometimes i come across people who say that its legit, one time it was a S.P.W "nahh its legit"

surrrrreeeeeeee it is. lol.

tuning from scratch is good however, sure it takes a while, but its fun progressing through, by the time the car is FT you have a good feel for it. i guess if you had already done it heaps of times it could become tedious

Personally i have many cards are which legit made from scratch. after u have realised how much money u put into ft-ing and full dress up, i cbf to go through all those stories n etc again. so might as well get a rename to have fun.

ppl wont say shit about u n ur rename if u the skills to back it up eg SMER@ + Pretz.

So you're saying it's fun to battle computers 80 times straight?
So you're saying it's fun to spend $80-$100 when you can only spend $10 (MT3)/$25(MT3DX) to get them done?
If battling computers all day long is your ideal of fun, then you shouldn't play on 2v2 cabs, only on the 1v1 ones so that the people who WANTS to battle 2v2, can.

& I agree with Riou, renames are fine as long as it's not the ridiculous ones with like 8k+stars on it, really ruins the machine.

renames saves money + time and also gets you into the heat of battle straight away.

just don't claim the stars/mileage which it came with (eg. 8191) as yours.

i dun mind renames..

it saves us time and money..

as long as ppl dun claim those stars, coins as their effort..

atm i prefer my battle car not to be a rename (meaning starting from 0 star)...but i may yet change my mind...:D

i myself had an 293 stars FD rename but eventually i surpassed the stars because after 2 yrs i already had 1204 stars on it. :) so i guess i can consider it as a legit because i give it time, money and effort on it..

honestly who gives a crap if people have 8191 renames or 9999+ or even low stat ones as long as you know where you stand and could back it up with your skills who cares ill rather see a rename rather then a dupe so yeah i have a couple of renames and people know that but i have a high respect just cause i been a local at all the arcades in my area for over 5 years now basically i say its who you are not what your showing off to be and anyways we all like to see auras and whatnot and if you played this game as long as i have we all know you will get lazy to tune and time is a big factor now a days and so is money so yeah haha

serious it just a f**King game, i dun care if im driving a rename or a dupe or even my own card, cuz someday every 1 of u will get 2 point where u go "man im 2 old 4 this shit" & thats true it will happen 2 all of u

& plus the fact that if ur like me, thats been playing around 4yrs it's hard not 2 lose ur card, get it stolen or corrupted or some unknown reason u have ur card anymore, cuz that happens a lot 2 me & it's very common 4 me

i once lost 3 cards & got 2 stolen & 1 corrupted all in a day & i lost a packs of card holders, all filled with 20 or more cards all gone & it happened twice, so im really the dude with bad luck with this game

Yeah i think its the general view that low stat renames (B rank and less than 100 or so stars, full or partial dress up) is acceptable

My Evo3 is a rename, got it at C1 rank with less than 100 stars NO DU...

Claiming it as your own... yes... THATS the problem everyone else has..

Especially when their skill and abilities reflect the contrary

Only renamebles I have are my EVO III and EVO VI. Both are under 100 stars. Rest of my other cars are legit. I bought both for $20 each, though if I were to choose, I'd probably wouldn't do it again, as I can FT a car in 1 day with $10.

Rename cards are ok imo, aslong as they don't try to pass them off as there own.
Skill and fun are all the counts in my books.
