Assuming that's whp, probably like 650-675 chp.

That isn't that far out of the realm of possibility. Some of the race circuit Zs back in the day were pushing 800 at the wheels. It just depends on a *lot* of stuff.

My original point still stands Is it that hard to imagine 200 more whp from a completely BUILT motor over big phils stock engine? Larger cam, better turbo, tweaked valve train, machined ports, forged pistons with higher compression, increased displacement.

Though i have to say, I dont ever remember WM ever refering to wheel horsepower, and can think of a few times it was more along the lines of "The engine makes..."

the average estimated power loss through the drive train is 15-20%.

heres a video of a 3.1L stroker in a z gettting 606 to the ground(the very end of the loooong video...) with 15% loss thats putting the crank HP somewhere around 710.
this one is fuel injected though. link in his vid description tells more.

in the show, 'jun' mentions the only secret to that motor is the crank, being the 84mm stroke one vs. the ld28 maxima diesel 83mm stroke crank. i have read up on this build for some time now as i plan on doing one myself. i have not come across what vehicle that crank may have come from but someone mentioned it is a crank from another older vehicle. this may or may not be true, might just be a custom made crank. the 83mm ld28 crank puts the displacement at 3096cc and the 84mm puts it at 3134cc.

Yeah, I guess I forget that the loss seems to increase as power goes up. For instance, 200 chp w/ 15% loss is still 170 at the wheel. At 400 chp, it'd lose 60, putting it at 340whp. Doubling the power also doubles the drivetrain loss essentially.

drivetrain loss depends on many factors not just the drivetrain it's self. the fluid you use, the transmission and diff gear oil you use, and it can also vary on RPM

i would either go completely carb or EFI; TBI is not a option for me at least.
