For me, I actually prefer manga, as I like to sit down in a comfortable chair with a light and get into a story that way. Also, most of the time, the story in a manga is closer to the original artist's vision than the anime.
Though I'll admit, I usually find myself watching anime more, since it's more convinient. laugh.gif

don't prefer one or the other, each is different. Manga usually covers the story in more depth. Anime sets the mood better.

Anime has the cool sound bites especially in GUNDAM

I prefer anime, if it follows the manga correctly. It's more enjoyable cos it has colors, music, and voice talents of seiyuu. For example, in Naruto, it's more exciting watching the anime (minus the filler!) cos you can watch the fighting scenes. Lol.

Why isn't there a choice for "both"?! sleep.gif
I prefer manga because you get the original story. With anime it can be a hit-and-miss when it comes to the quality of the show, which tends to cut out chunks of the story. This and varying quality of the voice actors can ruin what was a good story. Naruto (horrible, horrible English dub) and Ceres comes to mind.

Most, if not all dubs, are crappy. Grates my ears.

I downloaded the first episode of Initial D First Stage once, with Tokyopop English dub. You know the rest of what I'm gonna say... Lol. Total ear rape.

I've always watched shows in their original languages. It's not like I'm a weaboo, but it doesn't feel right when a Japanese dude speaks English/Mandarin, or Hong Kong people speak Chinese Mandarin (Mandarin dubs totally destroyed Cantonese shows!). Or Americans speaking in Japanese (they do dub English movies into Japanese in Japan).

Coming from someone such as myself who has read/watched Manga/Anime for the last 20 years, the answer, in my opinion, is both.

A good Manga is completely detailed, as the Creator intended with as many volumes as it requires for the series to be complete in most cases. I find if I read for long enough it ends up running like a movie in my mind anyway. You can really appreciate the artwork on each page and re-read over your favourite sections as much as you like. The downside is the cost I suppose, well here in Australia anyway. $15 generally per book, compared to when I was in Japan and paying only 500 yen and less for titles. The ones that were for 1500 yen were the size of phone books! I also find once I am done reading a Manga series, I tend not to read it again...and it goes onto my bookshelf.

Anime is a more casual approach I find. There is not as much detail as it's Manga and most dubs are terrible. However, there are always exceptions. Anime is good for watching with a few friends too, because you can't all huddle around a book right? haha. Anime music is a wonderful thing also. It's a genre of it's own really in my books. Some of my favourite music of all time comes from different Anime series! Guys, seriously...avoid Tokyopop titles? They really water down their releases. Madman went to hell some time ago. I haven't watched Anime in a long time, mostly because I feel a lot of the material out these days is not fresh. I understand it's difficult, but also the age of digital I feel animation has become lazy. It looks -too- clean and precise. Boring. Bring back cell work! Maybe I'm just jaded. Anime without Manga can work very well too I might add.

My all time top 5 Manga (in order):

1.) Angel Sanctuary
2.) Initial-D
3.) GTO
4.) xxxHolic
5.) Lucky Raccoon

My all time top 5 Anime (in order):

1.) Neon Genesis Evangelion (it is a SIN not to watch this if you like Anime)
2.) Street Fighter 2: The Animated Movie
3.) Cowboy Bebop
4.) Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
5.) The Cyberpunk Collection

There is no clear winner between the two, just enjoy what you want.

Yeah, Anime is not even drawn anymore, they use computer technology for cell colouring and all that.

Well, so far my top 5 animes are:

1. Gintama
2. School Rumble
3. Gundam SEED
4. Bleach
5. Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Mostly mainstream...but yeah, I like em.

It was meant to be a joke. But I don't dislike Manga because of that reason. I do read those during my school days like Doreamon and Hellsing. And I've to agree that Manga's storyline is more detailed than Anime after watching/reading "The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya" It's just that I've stopped collecting/reading Manga's because it's taking up too much space in my room, thus selling them away and brought a new table for my desktop.

If that post is serious, I'd apologize to you. Truly I am.
