Well a bicycle can have as much as 30 speeds (according to Shimano). Exaggeratingly, when we we're discussing the announcement of Mercedes Benz and their latest 9-speed transmission (9G-TRONIC and AMG Speedshift MCT 9-speed), someone raised the discussion where he said that tractors have as much as 72 gears lolz I figured that if we're continuing on the trend of increasing the number of gears in a transmission as frequently, then why bother with that? More is better or for e-penis? If so, then why not go with a CVT or D-drive IVT gearbox? (those things have infinite speeds and gear ratios so IMHO, even a 1000 SPEED gearbox means shit compared to those) Two cents Anyways On-topic, you mentioned Hiace, RX7 FD and Lancer CT9A. In this case, each have their own unique strengths. Hiace can block (esp in Hakone), FD has superb handling and CT9A cars are all-rounders and are friendly to beginners. Point is: Number of gears doesn't matter. More on how you drive and how you work/handle with what you have....... That's my opinion
