Dr Sakurai, a designer and developer of the Skyline and GT-R line of cars for 32 years since the time he joined Prince Motor Company in 1952, subsequent head of Autech Engineering in 1985, and one of the brains behind the R380-383 race cars passed away January 17 of heart failure. Like his cars or not, he will be remembered as someone who helped bring Japanese motorvehicle technology to the forefront from the post war years and whose machines spurred competition worldwide, forcing others to build better, faster pieces of tin. He was part of the industry until the day he died, and he will be missed.

Yeah, call me ignorant if you want, but I just knew he was the guy who started it all. Who headed the development of my fave line of sportscars.

Rest in peace, you will be remembered.
