You laugh at this now but you know this is important stuff if you want to- oh say, have people living in space or deal with food shortages in countries with limited arable land. Not to mention create a sustainable use for all that otherwise unuseable waste material which could create many jobs that otherwise wouldn't exist. At the very least it could be turned to feed for animals if people are so averse to eating it.
I don't see how or why it's so problematic. We eat plants, that gain sustenance by animal and sometimes human wastes. The artificial protein substance is NOT poop it just came from substances that happened to be in it. Plants are not poop but happened to come from rotting living things and animal waste.
Maybe it was just the fact that plants are naturally synthesize the waste and the mystery meat is made by MAN!!

I agree with you but this kind of thing, if it ever gets to the food industry, will be a problem for some people or the majority in fact.
It's more of a mental and psychological problem. Even if it tasted, looked, smell, felt like meat and then somebody tells me that this came from a man's backside that I have no clue who might be. I would indeed feel very sick and disgusted. This is clearly explained in the video.
I know that this is about proteins and harmless bacteria but what if the extraction of the proteins went a bit wrong and other harmful bacteria infiltrated it? Remember, in the video, it says that it was taken from sewage mud, that might be many nasty things which I don't dare mention.
The only way that I see it to be successful is firstly, to complete their research and be able to price competitively against real meat. The second is then to cut off all connections to media for a few years so that the population will be able to get their minds off of this. Finally, releasing it without the population knowing it or what it is.
