Um... yeah......... Maybe if I ever played the lottery and won it, OS would be getting a phone call the next morning.

11.5 compression ratio? Damn, our pump gas may as well have dirt and twigs in it. Looks like race gas/track use only for this sucker...

looks like it meant for NA setups based on that compression ratio

with that upgrade it can easily hit 9k rpm and the max rpm is 10k rpm

but to TC it you might need to lower the compression

but then again the new ver do look sexy with all those joints and the timing gears for the camshaft instead of the chain system

thats a srupid design they still maintain the same side exhaust/intake mani setup.

as for the 11.1 nothing a thicker mls head gaskets wont handle along with head studs.

No, I meant even on NA setups 11.0 is really pushing the limit over here in terms of being able to drive on regular pump gas. Especially with old Z engines, though this head might have a better design than in the 70's... still...

I'd want to run that engine NA with triple Mikunis/OER's anyway... good god would that be awesome...

87, 89, 91 (93 where I live).

Yeah, our gas is shit.

When you build something that does what you say we'll believe you. Till then I'll continue to build cars that work.

Take a look at RON vs. AKI and (R+M)/2. Generally, converting American Octane into RON bumps it 4-5 points. So 93 would actually be 98ish RON.

Also, cool, you got ~420hp out of an L32 (btw, who the hell uses PS still? that's just stupid). Now make enough of them that you don't have to be super wealthy to buy them, you just have to be REALLY dedicated to your cars, and maybe the Z world will start caring more.

Also, those side by side shots of the old vs. new. Which one is running the gear driven cams?

edit: found it, the triple gear front setup is the new one.

EDIT again: Found a metric SHITTON of high-res pictures of this from a guy that saw it in person, DLing and ULing now.

Also, word on the gear drive: WAY less wear than a chain drive, don't have to worry about tension/routing (biggest issue with making them DOHC), and VERY, VERY little slop at room temp.

Oh.... derp. ermm2.gif

Guess I should have done my homework instead of assuming the ratings were identical.

Seeing as we're a pretty niche market, I don't see that happening. Ever.

Sad but true. sad.gif

As much as I'd rather an opposite side In/Ex setup, the L6 is a product of its time and still works.

Obviously, when this 240z with an NA L24 could probably kick the crap out of just about any average 350z, let alone a Z31.

3 KA heads actually.

http://bandmzcars.com/

The biggest issue he had was getting the timing chain assembly to work right. He said that was harder than the chopping and slamming together of the heads.

Some guys have worked on fitting Benz M104 heads to the L series as well.

Yep, kinda old news. I'm not sure what state it's in right now, but I was really impressed when it was made.

If I remember correctly, the mold of the first OS Giken DOHC head for the L6 was carved out of a block of wood... Really astounding stuff. Now I suppose they just need a hunk of aluminium and a CNC machine. Still amazing, but a little of the magic is gone. I'm sure in this day and age if you didn't care about copyright infringement (like many Chinese manufacturers it seems), you'd need only get the computer data files and start making them on your own machine.

Depending on how big the production run is actually, it wouldn't necessarily be infringment. *shrugs* if they stop making them and won't make any more, they can't exactly take you to court over loss of revenue...

but still we need the detail dimensions of those block esp the intake valves and the top parts and the gear ratio for the timing gears

programing the dimensions is easy but getting the perfect fit is another story

You should really check out the link that was posted earlier. Since I'm in a good mood, I'll indulge your laziness.
