QUOTE (rodneykuo @ 4 hours, 15 minutes ago) | thanks =) |
Based on my experience (the last time I went there a few months ago): You are the: Fish -places that have HKD$1/HKD$1 price per game (like those in TST and SMARTGAME Fortress Hill) Fisher -places like VZ @ Telford Kowloon Bay and Namco CWB and sometimes in Kwun Tong I think the trend is that the more expensive the place, there are more noobs and guests while if the place is cheaper, then you can expect more pros and skilled players cause they take advantage of the cheaper game pricing compared to other places. Of course, there are exceptions though but that appears to be the general trend. P.S. Btw, has anyone here ever played at X-LAND TSUEN WAN??? How is it there? I might pass by the place in my next visit.

I think the "expensive" rule is generally correct. Personally, I consider it to be a convenience rule. I play... well, too much, probably, but really not a lot at any one time. I typically play a bit after work or when waiting for kendo, so I would never bother going all the way to TST or MK for that. On the other hand, if you're hardcore or have time to kill, those are the places to go, which tends to designate who ends up becoming fishermen and fish. :)

QUOTE (obby @ Yesterday, 5:31 PM) | There are plenty more i guess! |
I used to go to Silvercord........though I only played once cause even if the pricing is cheap, it's hard to get a seat with only four cabs (amidst tons of people waiting to get their turn). That and it's the closest one during my visit a year ago (yeah near the Marco Hotels). Actually, there are I think two-three (or I dunno) places that have MT over that stretch of Haiphong Road. Either way though, if my hotel is in TST, I'd rather play at Silvercord over Goldstar (because I hate the smell of cigarette smoke while playing and yeah, I gotta protect my lungs )

QUOTE (obby @ 3 hours, 18 minutes ago) | I prefer virtual zone! |
Agreed. Anyways: 1) Virtual Zone @ Telford Plaza II, Kowloon Bay Virtual Zone is more known for music/rhythm games though (i.e. Dance Dance Revolution, drum and guitar games, those kind of stuff). This is because the owner (Hitstyle Limited) is the top distributor of Konami arcade games in all of the Pearl River Delta region and beyond. Hence that's why it is a haven for music arcade games because the lineup is abundant. Nevertheless, the place also caters to non-music games (such as Maximum Tune). I think they have 8 cabs but when I was there, I was the only one playing lol (that was during midnight or almost midnight). Anyways, it's a neat place to play. A bit far though from the tourist places (like mainland Kowloon or HK mainland) but the country has comprehensive rail transportation network so it's alright . The place is real convenient though to arcade gamers who work in MTR Corp and/or reside in the buildings of the Telford complex. Just walking distance and they're already there. 2) MK88 @ Mong Kok portion of Nathan Road I go here cause the place has the most number of Maximum Tune cabinets I've ever seen (total of 24 when I was there; 20 are DX; 4 are regular MT3). Plus the place also has Beatmania IIDX which is cool and brand new cabinets . Plus no smoking. 3) Namco CWB During my last visit, the place is near the hotel our family was staying. Heck for those in Park Lane or along the CWB stretch (along Gloucester Road or Lockhart Road or near those areas), then it is convenient. Heck, if you live/stay in Excelsior, then the place is RIGHT BESIDE it . Great place to fish, LCD monitor for action from above and machines in good condition PLUS airconditioning is SUPERB. Only problem is the staff can be assholes sometimes (especially during closing time) but other than that, whatever newest Namco games come out, then this place will have them Heck, when DX was first released in Japan, Namco CWB already had DX as well (same time as Japan ). So yeah. Those are my top three places to play Maximum Tune in Hong Kong (as of December 2009)

Awesome, my best place to play is tst goldstar because of its cheapness and lots of pros... So decided to get fished and went for the mileage.
