QUOTE (Antares @ 2 hours, 32 minutes ago) | The problem with having Sean Boswell as Dom Toretto's partner is they gotta find some way to write Brian O' Connor off the story... |
Acutally they can... they can kill Paul Walker's character off-screen... or even on-screen... pretty much similar as to how was Duke (GI JOE) was killed off in the second GI JOE film... by using a stunt double and the car that most people are familiar with him, IMO his blue R34, they can present him getting killed by whoever is the surviving antagonist from FF6.
This would provide additional motivation/ vendetta for Dom and his crew (with Han being disposed off at the end of FF6).

QUOTE (Antares @ 32 minutes, 47 seconds ago) | I think it was Giselle's idea for them to move to Tokyo after FF6, but since she died, Han moved in to Japan himself to sort of honor Giselle's wishes. Then of course, Ian Shaw rammed his Benz onto Han's Fortune FD, killing him to get Dom's attention. |
Of course, Hollywood being Hollywood, they'll be able to find a way to revive a character if they want to - even to the extent that they'll use a different actor (complete with a "credible" backstory) to explain the change in appearance. In that regard, Han (as well as Giselle) can still come back from the dead in the series. In Brian O'Connor's case, since Paul Walker's been identified to this character since day one and people see both as one and the same, writers can't just bring in another actor to play his role. @Dare Who's my CSI namesake? So we can get Brian being the one written off the story, while Han manages to survive the explosion of the RX7, and Giselle manages to survive her fall as well.

If writers wish it so.
However, I've already heard that F&F7 is already in the production or post-filming stage so there's more than enough footage to make sure that this is one of Paul Walker's last movies as well as pretty much sealing the fate of both Han and Giselle until F&F8 if they ever decide to continue for one last sequel (depending on how F&F7's story turns out).
In retrospect, perhaps, it is one of those real life cases of foreshadowing wherein Brian wasn't available in the post-credits scene of Tokyo Drift... as if it was an unintentional sign from years before that Lucas Black would be the one to fill in the shoes left behind by Brian O'Connor.

QUOTE (Lonewolf @ 3 minutes, 9 seconds ago) | I smell retcons... |
Small retcons here and there maybe but I doubt Hollywood would do big ones for the F&F franchise. It's timeline is already past the Tokyo Drift stage so there's not much retconning to do.
The potential revival of Han and Giselle are not retcons IMO but more on part of continuing the story.

QUOTE (PMCD @ 32 minutes, 9 seconds ago) | It may be done in the same way as they did with Han. A car crashing into Brian's 35 or 34 (depends on what he uses.) But then, the aspect of respect for the dead comes in. Like the same way they did not even mentioning about the Joker (but including Scarecrow in the scenes) in The Dark Knight Rises. |
I dunno... in respect to a character, it is worse to leave them on a hanging fate IMO rather than to confirm their eventual fates. Like I said, Brian O'Connor's probable death in the movie would give further motivation to Dom and his crew as well as paving the way for Lucas Black to take O'Connor's place as the "skilled nice guy/ leader" of the team.
As for the Dark Knight movie universe, in-universe, methinks that the Joker is better left unmentioned given as to how destructive that character was in the second film not to mention that by mentioning the Joker would also risk exposing Harvey Dent (Demp?)'s identity as Two-Face - which is against the Dark Knight's wishes of maintaining Harvey's image as a hero.
