Decided to make a map course topic discussion, since I've just tried Hakone TA on my KPGC10 and reached nearly a 30s' but ANYWAYS...

I hope this would be a discussion thread for
-Battle Strategies etc.
-Time Attack entries and etc.
-Lining and etc.
-General Consensus. etc.

If this is totally off topic and not relevant (mods u can delete this thread)

Anyways, I find Hakone one of my favourite maps apart from C1.
THere's so many ways to go around it, the variations so much in amounts its just amazing.

I'll do a time attack video one day and see what you guys can do pointers about it.

Let's start.
Because you decide to be 2nd or 3rd and aim for First at either IB or OB when will you decide to use your attack and how will you do it and at what specific phase of the km's left?
Mines around 2.0~1.4km i should try 1.4~1.2 and aim to attack later on. The earlier you attack the more chances the last seconds boost will screw you if you cannot block during your cornering when you lead...

etc. what about you guys?

Well for Hakone, Boost effect applies most strongly when you're chasing, when you're leading its working the other way around. I don't really want to give a definite answer because I'm still supernatural-sensy-karma-bs-luck-factor-sensitive.

But the main point is that when you're chasing and not hitting anything (or vehicles to an extent) you get a boostup-powerband that lets you catch up in.

I'm not sure how strong or how long, the duration or persistance/amount of it is. But for Hakone, It's much faster and much more than usual compared to other maps. Depending on Horsepower.

All I can say is, Chase. Believe the boost will kick in and you can push them out of the way and other things. There's much more advanced things like boost cancelling via blocking methods but you get the rough idea.

Hope this helps.

^that is only for players with average skill and depends on boost catch up

Skill in hakone can be defined even for battles just by looking at ta scores, a 2.27.xxx cannot be compared with a 2.30.xxx even if its 2 or 3 seconds apart
Its not like c1 where boost in battles makes up for ta differences, if the 2.27.xxx were to run perfect chances of the 2.30.xxx catching is slim, the best bet is making the 2.27.xxx commit some fatal mistakes but even that alone requires skills in hakone

One important note is the many corners in hakone greatly reduces the battle boost that you experience on other maps and if you have trouble catching up or mysteriously gets overtaken quickly like boost in effect usually the reason is you are just not fast enough
