QUOTE (vash944 @ Yesterday, 1:17 AM) | Ghost data do degrade over time, usually 4-6 days are the time they got slower, I say it's pretty easier than WMMT3 series but not as easy than WMMT4 in terms of crown boost
In my case that I retired from crown bashing to a point that some people knew a certain bug that can hold their crown data for months using "planking the ghost" which was prevalent on special online ghost challenge event...
And that bug itself will annoy the heck out of you... if they did the correct angle that would boost on impossible angle or entry of turn which defies racing logic... |
I see, that makes sense. Thanks for the info. I'm familiar with some of the 'dirty' ghost battle tactics already (e.g cushioning). I kind of wish they made the ghosts noclip to prevent that. Having collisions on in a ghost battle seems weird to me, but Bandai NAMCO's gonna Bandai NAMCO I guess!
I mainly just go for the crowns because it's fun, cool to have my car featured in the attract mode and racing against the ghosts of top players like DAFFY, oky, LimBO, etc helps me better learn their lines for TA and an idea of what to expect if I ever VS them.
QUOTE (nel3 @ Yesterday, 10:19 PM) | with any luck the race to 240 will go without loses to hit a red tach. though there are some story mode races that tend to give me trouble once in a while. |
If you enable 'retire settings' in your options, if the AI passes you before you reach the finish line and you don't think you'll catch them, you can just turn around and drive backwards to retire from the race. IIRC this will not count as a loss and you'll be able to retry until you get the tach. Anyways, I played some more this weekend at the Golfland in Castro Valley and the Round 1 at Eastridge Mall in San Jose. There wasn't many players at the Golfland so I was just mainly doing ghost battles. There was a few annoying people who were beating up the steering wheel and shifters. One older woman was beating the whole cabinet because her husband kept ramming her. I almost said something to them. Really wish people would stop abusing these cabs. I took almost all the crowns at the Golfland back with my R35 and AE86. I got C1, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka and Hakone with my AE86 and New Belt Line, Wangan, Yokohane, Yaesu, and Minato with my R35. Had to race LimBO, Sauc3 (team Exploit) and oky's ghosts for them. oky still holds the crown for Mt. Taikan. Did I mention that he's really good? Image size reduced, original size: 2560 x 1920. Updated my TA on Hakone Inbound to 2'33"488 (old time was 2'33"919). Still way too slow for an AE86, really need to improve more. Went down to the San Jose Round 1 and the usual crew were there. Raced against JIN, S-Q-N, NEO, and another guy whose name looked something like Niseu? I can't remember exactly what it was. (Sorry.) I wasn't at my best in San Jose because I was still feeling groggy from the cold and a little out of practice since I didn't get to play must last weekend. Got wrecked pretty bad by traffic and I completely miscalculated a few corners. Came in 3rd place pretty much every race. Still had fun, though! Edit: Sorry for the huge images. The forum normally resizes them for me, but for some reason it failed to do it this time. If any mods/admins can help get the resizing to work correctly for this post I would appreciate it Edit #2: Finally figured out what was causing the image problem. Apparently the resizing doesn't work for images with the extension ".png" You have to change it to ".jpg" for it to work. Fixed the problem WMMT5: Played some more at Golfland Castro Valley and Round 1 at Sun Valley Mall in Concord. Took a bunch of crowns with my R34, R35 and AE86. Also set new TA records for Hakone Inbound and Outbound. Managed to beat my old time on Hakone Inbound by about a second, and beat my old time on Hakone Outbound by several seconds. Ran into some more annoying cabinet/shifter slammers. There was one guy playing with a banapassport at Round 1 with some of his friends, they were all refusing VS for most of the time they were there, and I was trying to do some ghost battle runs. This jerk kept slamming the shifter so hard it kept distracting me and making me crash while I was trying to take crowns. I was tempted to say something to him. He eventually challenged me to a VS after doing a bunch of story mode runs, I guess his car still needed tuning. I wrecked him and his friends with my R35 twice before they decided to go do ghost battles with refuse VS turned on. I was hoping I could just get him to rage quit the cab so he doesn't break th e shifters, but he still kept playing. Luckily he ran out of credits shortly afterwards. Really wish people would stop abusing these expensive machines. At Round 1 Sun Valley (Concord) Took New Belt Line, Wangan, and Yokohane crowns with my R34: Image size reduced, original size: 2560 x 1920. Click here to view the image in its original dimension. Took Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka, Hakone and Mt. Taikan crowns with my AE86: Image size reduced, original size: 2560 x 1920. Click here to view the image in its original dimension. At Golfland (Castro Valley) Took Yokohama crown with my R35: Image size reduced, original size: 2560 x 1920. Click here to view the image in its original dimension. Updated time attack records with my AE86: Hakone Inbound - 2'32"695 Image size reduced, original size: 2560 x 1920. Click here to view the image in its original dimension. Hakone Outbound - 2'35"407 Image size reduced, original size: 2560 x 1920. Click here to view the image in its original dimension. Apparently I'm the 23rd fastest AE86 driver on Hakone Inbound (No. 23/ 131 cars, No. 618/ 2,122 cars) and 17th fastest AE86 driver on Hakone Outbound (No. 17/ 129 cars, No. 510/ 2,245 cars) in North America. I didn't even think I was that fast. I still think my time is pretty bad. I'm surprised I made the top 100, let alone the top 30. Hoping I can get 2'25" eventually, or at the very least beat the model rank which is currently 2'27"807 held by FUFU. Gotta keep practicing. i finaly got around to racing with FT Viper against some of the locals, got mixed results from its handling aspects. gotta work on that some more. i didnt really expect to win but i wanted the info on how it performed, had to start it off somewhere. i got myself into a nervous mess with the R33 and the story mode. aiming for another flawless 60 round to get the red Tach in 181-240. i had 2 previous F ups in round 2 and 3. got past 2 races where i know i have some issues ie story 8 chasing down Eriko/devil Z and 13?? where there is a red or yellow turn in the last 2KM. i got past eriko with some luck and over caution to avoid crashing and messing up the run. had to retire one wangan run at 760HP in the last 2km as i clipped a car enough to lose the lead. i went to retire and the damn traffic car was blocking me at 1.5km left.......... i got out of its way to retire well before i could lose the race (under 900m for the PC to win). i re-did the race and won, another race had a yellow corner that stressed me out but i got thru it. story 200 was a near loss, avoided wall crash by slowing down a it too much, overtaken by Tatsuya at 500m left but pushed and squeezed by 2 trucks to pass him. i was much too stressed out to continue story mode as trying not to lose took that much out of me. i need to be careful again in 200-220 as i did have another mess up in a past round in that area. doing story mode in a boring grind if im not worried about a flawless story mode run. going for a flawless story mode is engaging yet stressful as hell but im onlu aiming as high as the red tach. the BCNR33 is at A1 but S7 is only 100 story races and JapCH round 5 completion away from my goal. i probably will then be able to focus on TA with it soon after that. i managed to get a few pics of my cars today, the red evo3 is bone stock modification, same for the blue STI WRX, the viper is the green color and no dressup parts available on it... i tried to get my FD to Kyoko Initial D specs but the aero A set doesnt have stock wing option but it has the rest of the body rather close to appearance. i do have Hawk 1 motif on the car but didnt get around to taking that pic of it. Sorry about that! It looks like it happened because I used a "png" extension instead of "jpg". The forum software this site uses doesn't resize PNG images for some reason. I fixed it now Also nice car @Cabbie. How long you been running that thing? Also just out of curiosity, whats you guys' time attack records for Hak In/Out? QUOTE (nel3 @ Yesterday, 8:23 PM) | They aren't note worthy, im still gas on gas off to avoid wall hits. 2 33 to 2 35 on a TA run if I remember correctly. Forget perfect attack lines, I'm just trying for decent exit speeds and minimal to not wall contacts.I still find hakone to be very fun to race on regardless.
I do have a chance Wednesday to play a bit and verify my ghost star total but the only course I'm focusing on is Fukouka at high 2 30 mid 2 31 range. |
That's not too bad. I was at 2'33 myself for months before I finally updated my time to 2'32" just recently. It's tricky learning all the hidden methods of cornering faster on this course. Apparently there's a few spots where if you tap the rear end of your car on the wall, it'll actually let slow down quicker and to just the right speed than using the brake for the corner, actually producing an overall faster corner time. I just haven't mastered this yet. I'm still doing no-contact runs myself. I fluctutate between throttle modulation and throttle control. I use throttle control in a few sections but mostly modulation. It takes some getting used to.
I've only been playing the game since the end of last year. Before that, I didn't play Maxi Tune for like 15 years (I played the original wayyyy back in like 2004 when I was a teenager, long before Hakone or the AE86 was a thing in Maxi Tune). I'm just shocked that in this short period of time that I've been playing the game again, after a 15 year hiatus from the game, I somehow made the top 30 fastest drivers of my car model in North America. Is it just because there's so few AE86 drivers in this game or what? I really don't even think I'm that fast. I'm still like 5 seconds behind the fastest AE86 driver on Hakone, and 1 second is like an hour in racing time

WMMT5DX+: - got into a troll battle which they plan to last place me on C1... - has hints of 2v1 - then again I was the aggressor which I joined their battle but I wasn't doing any nasty blocking those 2 did first - JCESE was trolled due to their tactics - used BCNR33 for the next battles ahead - 1v1 on reverse C1 and the BNR34 guy 2v1'd me got outrunned kinda far - planned to troll me again this time I planned to another area not on their place - somehow those 2 (nearly rage) quitted the end of the race that they can't trolled me to last place that supposed to land me good 2nd but placed me 1st And yeah.... That is why I hate 2v1 peeps... they can't win against on themselves without someone Good thing I learned how to fend off some 2v1 tactics and troll them further... other maps that they don't even know how They played c1 all the time and got trolled at reverse c1... and I thought they're that good
