QUOTE (vash944 @ Yesterday, 1:17 AM)
Ghost data do degrade over time, usually 4-6 days are the time they got slower, I say it's pretty easier than WMMT3 series but not as easy than WMMT4 in terms of crown boost

In my case that I retired from crown bashing to a point that some people knew a certain bug that can hold their crown data for months using "planking the ghost" which was prevalent on special online ghost challenge event...

And that bug itself will annoy the heck out of you... if they did the correct angle that would boost on impossible angle or entry of turn which defies racing logic...

I see, that makes sense. Thanks for the info. I'm familiar with some of the 'dirty' ghost battle tactics already (e.g cushioning). I kind of wish they made the ghosts noclip to prevent that. Having collisions on in a ghost battle seems weird to me, but Bandai NAMCO's gonna Bandai NAMCO I guess!

I mainly just go for the crowns because it's fun, cool to have my car featured in the attract mode and racing against the ghosts of top players like DAFFY, oky, LimBO, etc helps me better learn their lines for TA and an idea of what to expect if I ever VS them.

QUOTE (nel3 @ Yesterday, 10:19 PM)
with any luck the race to 240 will go without loses to hit a red tach. though there are some story mode races that tend to give me trouble once in a while.

If you enable 'retire settings' in your options, if the AI passes you before you reach the finish line and you don't think you'll catch them, you can just turn around and drive backwards to retire from the race. IIRC this will not count as a loss and you'll be able to retry until you get the tach.

Anyways, I played some more this weekend at the Golfland in Castro Valley and the Round 1 at Eastridge Mall in San Jose. There wasn't many players at the Golfland so I was just mainly doing ghost battles.

There was a few annoying people who were beating up the steering wheel and shifters. One older woman was beating the whole cabinet because her husband kept ramming her. I almost said something to them. Really wish people would stop abusing these cabs.

I took almost all the crowns at the Golfland back with my R35 and AE86. I got C1, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka and Hakone with my AE86 and New Belt Line, Wangan, Yokohane, Yaesu, and Minato with my R35. Had to race LimBO, Sauc3 (team Exploit) and oky's ghosts for them. oky still holds the crown for Mt. Taikan. Did I mention that he's really good?

Updated my TA on Hakone Inbound to 2'33"488 (old time was 2'33"919). Still way too slow for an AE86, really need to improve more.

Went down to the San Jose Round 1 and the usual crew were there. Raced against JIN, S-Q-N, NEO, and another guy whose name looked something like Niseu? I can't remember exactly what it was. (Sorry.)

I wasn't at my best in San Jose because I was still feeling groggy from the cold and a little out of practice since I didn't get to play must last weekend. Got wrecked pretty bad by traffic and I completely miscalculated a few corners. Came in 3rd place pretty much every race. Still had fun, though!

thats how i had the card setup for a long time. it doesnt help me out if i crash in the last 1-2 KM and lose the lead. thats what happened 30 races in 150 or so. i hit the wall in last 2 km a few times and retired the race a few times until i passed the corner sufficiently but messed up shortly after that...

i did some story mode last visit with R33 on C1. the AI put 2 large box trucks directly in front of the 2 lane enclosed bridge......... i got between the truck and forced my way to the left lane to avoid a hard median hit.

WMMT5DX+

- BCNR33 is now SSS1.... after reaching 1500th win and probably go through JapCha loops 18 till 20 for the final rank up which leaves me 144 more wins to finish loop 20

- did one crown busting on C1 upon knowing the full map is literally NBL CW... the crown owner was 700hp and I did 830hp, but before the crown busting and I managed to battle the crown holder who was slamming the wheel and shifter that he was asserting dominance... and after few games he was last place twice since I was Last place on my JCESE on the first battle and changed to JZS161

- During the battle with JZS161... well he was aggresive on blocking that the next guy who was a known team and that guy uses GDB-F knew my intents on giving that certain BNR32 (the guy who loves to slam the wheel and shifter) a lesson... I didn't block GDB-F aggresively except the BNR32 which he started it and GDB-F
guy probably knew what I'm doing.... after the BNR32 lost twice and proceeded to take hakone crown and console himself on fishing GUESTs

- Lastly I'm concentrating on getting SSSS on my BCNR33 and maybe do a bit of crown bashing on my SVX again

i really dont get it why ppl need to slam the wheel and shifter to show dominance? slamming the wheel is sort of a technique thats both defense and offense as well giving your partner a quick boost when your playing tag

Timezone Werribee have people who are infamous for doing this, it's a weird subculture that's probably gonna backfire on them once they actually break them

Anyway, I went for a few rounds over the weekend at the titular location of this post, had a few local vs battles and took a crown, also sucked at TA so it was pretty chill

EDIT: Wording aaaaaa

I can understand during battle but... much as I hate that they do that when he fishes GUEST, might be pissed when the hp setup part

again... on my last post that the GDB-F guy is also there on one known team probably as old on my team... I feel that he was also pissed on how that BNR32 guy was showing off and GDB-F guy knew I let him pass and not the BNR32 guy =P

lastly the slamming steering move is quite deadly when used correctly but.... *shrugs*

I would love to trap them on the bad cabinets if I play on that area.... but trolling them harder on bad shifter cab and you win the race is even sweeter =P

Edit: Sorry for the huge images. The forum normally resizes them for me, but for some reason it failed to do it this time. If any mods/admins can help get the resizing to work correctly for this post I would appreciate it

Edit #2: Finally figured out what was causing the image problem. Apparently the resizing doesn't work for images with the extension ".png" You have to change it to ".jpg" for it to work. Fixed the problem

WMMT5: Played some more at Golfland Castro Valley and Round 1 at Sun Valley Mall in Concord. Took a bunch of crowns with my R34, R35 and AE86. Also set new TA records for Hakone Inbound and Outbound. Managed to beat my old time on Hakone Inbound by about a second, and beat my old time on Hakone Outbound by several seconds.

Ran into some more annoying cabinet/shifter slammers. There was one guy playing with a banapassport at Round 1 with some of his friends, they were all refusing VS for most of the time they were there, and I was trying to do some ghost battle runs. This jerk kept slamming the shifter so hard it kept distracting me and making me crash while I was trying to take crowns. I was tempted to say something to him.

He eventually challenged me to a VS after doing a bunch of story mode runs, I guess his car still needed tuning. I wrecked him and his friends with my R35 twice before they decided to go do ghost battles with refuse VS turned on. I was hoping I could just get him to rage quit the cab so he doesn't break th e shifters, but he still kept playing. Luckily he ran out of credits shortly afterwards. Really wish people would stop abusing these expensive machines.

At Round 1 Sun Valley (Concord)

Took New Belt Line, Wangan, and Yokohane crowns with my R34:

Apparently I'm the 23rd fastest AE86 driver on Hakone Inbound (No. 23/
131 cars, No. 618/
2,122 cars) and 17th fastest AE86 driver on Hakone Outbound (No. 17/
129 cars, No. 510/
2,245 cars) in North America. I didn't even think I was that fast. I still think my time is pretty bad. I'm surprised I made the top 100, let alone the top 30.

Hoping I can get 2'25" eventually, or at the very least beat the model rank which is currently 2'27"807 held by FUFU. Gotta keep practicing.

WMMT5DX+:

- was gonna plan tomorrow for a short session after work since it lands on a religious holiday

- BCNR33 needs to rest at the garage after reaching SSSS, probably gonna use that again when my Z34 reaches SSSSS

- need to play my Z34 quite a bit more just enough to lighten my problem to my bloody rainbow road to SSSSS on Battle stars and Ghost wins

- Namco-Bandai Games or even the Devs of WMMT5DX+ should release an event this month just enough for people to be ready or even hyped enough for WMMT6

- now my "guesstimate" sense suggests that WMMT6 is probably the nearest date when WMMT5DX+ released on International version otherwise when is Wangan Navigator pops out on iOS/Google play that WMMT6 looms near

- duly noted that my BCNR33 is now basking in its glory after reaching SSSS with an obligatory animated icon gif

i finaly got around to racing with FT Viper against some of the locals, got mixed results from its handling aspects. gotta work on that some more.
i didnt really expect to win but i wanted the info on how it performed, had to start it off somewhere.

i got myself into a nervous mess with the R33 and the story mode. aiming for another flawless 60 round to get the red Tach in 181-240. i had 2 previous F ups in round 2 and 3.
got past 2 races where i know i have some issues ie story 8 chasing down
Eriko/devil Z and 13?? where there is a red or yellow turn in the last 2KM. i got past eriko with some luck and over caution to avoid crashing and messing up the run.
had to retire one wangan run at 760HP in the last 2km as i clipped a car enough to lose the lead. i went to retire and the damn traffic car was blocking me at 1.5km left..........
i got out of its way to retire well before i could lose the race (under 900m for the PC to win).
i re-did the race and won, another race had a yellow corner that stressed me out but i got thru it. story 200 was a near loss, avoided wall crash by slowing down a it too much,
overtaken by Tatsuya at 500m left but pushed and squeezed by 2 trucks to pass him.
i was much too stressed out to continue story mode as trying not to lose took that much out of me.

i need to be careful again in 200-220 as i did have another mess up in a past round in that area. doing story mode in a boring grind if im not worried about a flawless story mode run.
going for a flawless story mode is engaging yet stressful as hell but im onlu aiming as high as the red tach.
the BCNR33 is at A1 but S7 is only 100 story races and JapCH round 5 completion away from my goal. i probably will then be able to focus on TA with it soon after that.

i managed to get a few pics of my cars today, the red evo3 is bone stock modification, same for the blue STI WRX,
the viper is the green color and no dressup parts available on it... i tried to get my FD to Kyoko Initial D specs but the aero A set doesnt have stock wing option
but it has the rest of the body rather close to appearance.
i do have Hawk 1 motif on the car but didnt get around to taking that pic of it.

im not looking for a flashy dress up setting on this one, something rather plain (Aero C) fits it better.

yikes, the previous extra large pics make for a difficult view setting on this page.

Sorry about that! sad.gif It looks like it happened because I used a "png" extension instead of "jpg". The forum software this site uses doesn't resize PNG images for some reason. I fixed it now

Also nice car @Cabbie. How long you been running that thing?

Also just out of curiosity, whats you guys' time attack records for Hak In/Out?

Hey, any news about the wmmt6 international release? Just wondering. Wmmt6 cabs here in my area are not as crowded compared few months ago. The japanese players here are already in that point of not playing much but still they won't release the international version yet. I mean, man, that's really taking too long.

Played a bit today and got a nice surprise. I did 5 more races in story mode and took a break. Played with my 420hp 180sx vs 3 guests to play around, won both races easily enough. Passed a bit of time on ghost modes, did a ghost mode race and hit S9 after a race, i haven't really been keeping track of the ghost stars. I'm going to take my time with the story mode to avoid stressing too much on not losing a race in the red tech run. I'll do what I need to get the red tech and also hit S7. I'm just a story mode and JC5 away from the goal. I'm not sure what I will focus on after s7 and red tach are hit but I do have other cars to pass the time to do TA runs.

They aren't note worthy, im still gas on gas off to avoid wall hits. 2 33 to 2 35 on a TA run if I remember correctly. Forget perfect attack lines, I'm just trying for decent exit speeds and minimal to not wall contacts.I still find hakone to be very fun to race on regardless.

I do have a chance Wednesday to play a bit and verify my ghost star total but the only course I'm focusing on is Fukouka at high 2 30 mid 2 31 range.

That's not too bad. I was at 2'33 myself for months before I finally updated my time to 2'32" just recently. It's tricky learning all the hidden methods of cornering faster on this course. Apparently there's a few spots where if you tap the rear end of your car on the wall, it'll actually let slow down quicker and to just the right speed than using the brake for the corner, actually producing an overall faster corner time. I just haven't mastered this yet. I'm still doing no-contact runs myself. I fluctutate between throttle modulation and throttle control. I use throttle control in a few sections but mostly modulation. It takes some getting used to.

I've only been playing the game since the end of last year. Before that, I didn't play Maxi Tune for like 15 years (I played the original wayyyy back in like 2004 when I was a teenager, long before Hakone or the AE86 was a thing in Maxi Tune). I'm just shocked that in this short period of time that I've been playing the game again, after a 15 year hiatus from the game, I somehow made the top 30 fastest drivers of my car model in North America. Is it just because there's so few AE86 drivers in this game or what? I really don't even think I'm that fast. I'm still like 5 seconds behind the fastest AE86 driver on Hakone, and 1 second is like an hour in racing time

So I did play today and it was disastrous, lost at 210 with a blind corner in last 1km. 2 cats side by side but 15m apart. I didnt have the right line to clear them and lost the streak. Seriously annoyed at this point but hpthe Gloryhammer concert I went to kinda toned the anger off. Plus there are small kids at the cabs when I messed up. I still got another story mode or 2 to do if the damn AI doesn't troll me too much.

Got around to checking my hakone out time. I remembered it wrong, last run i did was a 40 second range. Still not a time to brag about. Not sure of inbound as I didnt be there yet. With the 5 story mode before the concert, the concert and the time it ended. I didnt have much time to play. Tried story 30 again, clipped traffic 1.7km left and 37m short to win...

I'm gonna continue to 239 and throw the race. Not good at +70 win streak and hopefully the AI will show mercy 241-300.

Speaking of top times in MT5, i stole some 4th place runs in 2 courses, was 2-4 seconds of the records but since the srt10 isn't generally TA'd much it's moot LOL.

WMMT5DX+:

- got into a troll battle which they plan to last place me on C1...
- has hints of 2v1
- then again I was the aggressor which I joined their battle but I wasn't doing any nasty blocking those 2 did first
- JCESE was trolled due to their tactics
- used BCNR33 for the next battles ahead
- 1v1 on reverse C1 and the BNR34 guy 2v1'd me got outrunned kinda far
- planned to troll me again this time I planned to another area not on their place
- somehow those 2 (nearly rage) quitted the end of the race that they can't trolled me to last place that supposed to land me good 2nd but placed me 1st

And yeah.... That is why I hate 2v1 peeps... they can't win against on themselves without someone rolleyes.gif

Good thing I learned how to fend off some 2v1 tactics and troll them further... other maps that they don't even know how evilbrows.gif

They played c1 all the time and got trolled at reverse c1... and I thought they're that good

played monday and today. mostly story grinding and finding the problematic stages where the CPU traffic trolls. i lost at 30 and 6 more stages for traffic or mistakes in last 1-2 KM.

im currently 231 and 12.200KM on the R33, rank S9. i need JC#5 and 1 story mode. i plan to spam story mode until i hit 15k odometer but i hope to hit a red tach somewhere between there. are there any tips that i need to look out for with the evil tricks the CPU throws at you? there's tight squeeze with trucks on narrow and/or blind corners and opponents surging at last KM. what other evil tricks are there? im trying not to run a large winning streak before running for a flawless 60 stories. never had much luck getting past 80 story mode. i can get a red tach in the first 3 story mode rounds but its harder after that with my skill level. i have stayed around 720-760HP through out this story mode round so i have some control to dodge the traffic that the game throws in my way.
