Hey guys! Complete noob here. I've only played WMMT5DX twice, both times in a vs battle with friends. Both times I won and got a free turn and had a go of story mode. Unfortunately, I didn't have a bana passport either time. I have one now and am hoping to play the game as much as my work allows.
I'm going to be focused on story mode at first and my question is; can any car beat story mode?
Will I be putting myself at a massive disadvantage by using a DR30, FC or a A70 (I like 80s cars )?

If you love 80s cars, I can recommend you the AE86 or the S30. These two are good cars and can par up to the bandwagons.
All cars can beat Story Mode of course.

There are disadvantages yes but thats what boost is for, as long as you take the time to learn the nuances of the car you'll be fine, no need to go for a car that supposedly can "par up" to bandwagons - whatever that means - because if you like the car to start with, you'll likely play more anyway, meaning your skills improve and you dont need to rely on the car choice to save you

My favourite 80s car is the Skyline R31 Passage GT (used to own one in fact). They closest to it is the DR30. But, that being said I do like the s30 as well, especially with a bit of a bodykit on them.
I'll make a judgement call when I'm next playing the game.

The S30 is as 80s as a R35 is.

The best '80s car is the R32 GTR

Of the three I think the FC is the best performance wise. Pretty common with the upper tier players here as a personal car.

The Z31 is 80s

The first car is what you learn the game though, it's best to start with a car that keeps you motivated. So I would recommend going with your personal favorite.

True, but, due to there being a lot of s130s around in the 80s, the car still has an 80s feel. Where I grew up we didn't get the z31 until they were 15 years old and could be imported. Although, my r31 was an import too and that still feels 80s (it was an '89 model, was the last run of the r31s and had the RB20DET from the R32 GTSt in it )

You will also have to do it within a window period

Those titles are only obtainable in December.

Like what Dare said, ultimately, it about improving. You do that in the car you like, or in one that's proven good, ether way.
It's also a missed opportunity, I can't think of any other arcade racer with the R30 Iron Mask Skyline in it.

How does the crown system works? I heard its only the branch where you are playing that the crown counts.

Do the modifications from story mode effect vs battles? Just a question as there seems to be an auto catch up in vs battle modes, just wondering if the modifications can effect that?

basically how online ghost battle works but in "that" cabinet you will get the crown status and not outside if you were get successfully win against a crown holder

Also the crown holder can choose what branching/route in that crown area by doing a run after you got that area crown, and challengers will try to claim the crown with your route
