THIS IS IT!!!! ROTARY HAS RETURNED
For most people who like rotaries like the Mazda Cosmo 110S,RX3,RX7(SA22,FC3S,FD3S),Eunos Cosmo, and the RX8(SE3P).....well....we have a new member....the Mazda RX-Vision Concept has just unveiled at this year's Tokyo Motor Show and I'd guarantee that this will be the new halo car for Mazda.....with all these emissions, fuel economy, and other issues regarding the rotary engine.....Mazda develops the so-called"SKYACTIV-R" which is the next-gen rotary-powered engine for this car...although the details are still thin but we all know it's a front-engined, rear wheel drive sports car.....so hopefully in my thoughts so far....THEY SHOULD BUILD IT what are your thoughts of this new car?

usually i'm bummed when i see the cool designs of concept cars and then they water it down for the production model. But for this one, i wont mind a bit of watering down, keep the FD style rear tho.

wait, so their last rotary car was the RX8 right?

most likely this so called "RX-Vision Concept" or probably gonna be RX-9 in the near future...

I'm pretty sure it will be a Hybrid (Skyactive-R + Electric) as much the same principle as Demio Hybrid (Mazda 2 hybrid) but better engine =/

if they ever......

mazda 2/demio's concept of hybrid was using a single rotor wankel/rotary engine setup plus electric motor (funny that they share with Toyota's Yaris' production in Mexico, probably their unholy alliance from before)

the Mazda RX-Vision Concept is most likely be a triple rotor rotary setup

Im cool with a triple. Now the only player missing from this resurgence of the glory days is Mitsubishi and their GTO.

I dunno about mitsubishi's path.... but it seems missing a GTO successor fear2.gif

Toyota (with BMW as their project alliance) haz their FT-1, Nissan has their Vision GT-R, Mazda has their Vision RX concept....

Mitsubishi's concept dubbed "Concept XR-PHEV Evolution" seems a successor to Colt/Starion plus Lancer Evo on Hybrid Engine system

nuts... the engineers scrapped the hybrid system..... because they believe Rotary Engine can extend milage while saving fuel

but somewhat rejoice to some purists out there.... Pure Rotary Engine with Turbochargers

so far there no speculations on how many rotors they will slap in this production design

4 rotor pls stuart2.gif

if we follow FC3S or FD3S displacement logic... then it would be as nasty than a regular V6 engine

4X 653cc fear2.gif fear2.gif

also dem' Mazda peeps are mum/secretive about the displacement too so as how many rotors they gonna slap on
