QUOTE (tofu_boy86 @ Today at 9:01 AM) | i think the card sistem is just a way of leveing up in the ranks. |
How do you mean? When I saw the cards I though of a completly diffrent system. Maybe you go out and buy the cards at Wal-Mart or your local game store, take them home, scan them with some sort of usb scanning device, and thats how you progress through the game. Each pack will have a few random cards in it, some cards might give you info on other characters, some might unlock races, some might give you parts or upgrades, others might give you new paint jobs and other visual things. I still don't know how I really feel about it if thats the system they have worked out for the game. Pros: A setup for a very indepth game and community, maybe a door opener for a whole new type of console gameplay. Cons: GOD DAMN WILL IT BE AN EXPENSIVE GAME TO PLAY!!! Trying to collect all the cards for every car, character, and race will cost alot more than the game itself, I'll pretty much have to choose between playing that or the arcade version! But, I'm just spittin out ideas here, I'm probably really off to... Those pictures could have just been a preview of a new, Yugio style, Wangan card game...(wondering the possibilites...)

OOER PSP WM!!! awesome news, i've got ID on psp and its a great game and all however due to a different format i've definitley not got to post the times as i've done on the arcade however its fun to be playing it while not being at the arcarde and its a hell of a lot cheaper . The most annoying thing about ID is having to win your way to the parts cards so u can mod the car. If you choose the wrong one then u just have to keep racing till u get the part cards..... painful but does give the game length, not to mention net racing with other people. what i think WM is going to do is be able to save the games onto a memorystick and be interchangable in the same way that you save your cars at the arcade on the magnetic cards. so you can play it on psp and when u have a kick ass car then take it to ur friends/relative/watever's house and kick their azz with ur psp version car........ just a thought..... best thing about WM is they have MY car in it WOOTS

As far as I'm aware, no. He's probably talking about Maximum Tune 3 from Namco. The PS3 game by Genki is an entirely different game.

The PS3 game "Wangan Midnight" is NOT the same as the arcade machine "Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune 3" that will be released later this year.
"Wangan Midnight", the PS3 game, is home release ONLY. This game utilizes an unlockable internal "card" system for tuning; the story arc focuses mostly on the Devil Z (you are playing as Asakura Akio).
"Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune 3", the arcade game, is currently going to be released only to arcades (whether they decide to port it to a console is debatable). As those who have played the previous iterations of the WMMT arcade machines know, the game uses magnetic cards to record player data; the story arc is about a new character who comes in and races on the Wangan line, becoming famous like the Devil Z and Blackbird.
As you can see, the WMMT3 and Wangan Midnight (PS3) game are only related by the source material, treating it in different ways. The PS3 game plays through the eyes of Akio, while the arcade WMMT3 "creates" a new character/car (like how all of the Initial D: Arcade Stages handle it).
