QUOTE
A rare Ferrari 599 GTO was involved in a crash in Singapore early on Saturday, claiming the lives of three people including the driver of the Ferrari.

The accident took place at a junction near the Raffles Hospital, an area known for being an accident black spot.

The other vehicles involved in the crash were a taxi and a motorbike.

Sadly, the 52-year-old driver of the taxi was killed, as was his 20-year-old female passenger. The man on the motorbike miraculously managed to survive.

A passenger in the 599 GTO was seriously injured but also managed to survive, reports the Straits Times.

The driver of the Ferrari was identified as 31-year-old businessman Ma Chi. Both Chi and the driver of the taxi, father-of-three Cheng Teck Hock, were stuck in their vehicles after the crash and died before paramedics could extricate them.

While police are still investigating the incident, witnesses claim the Ferrari driver ran a red light and crashed into the taxi, which then hit the motorbike. From the extent of the damage sustained by the Ferrari, it's likely some speed was involved.

Damn, the 599 was going so fast the engine flew that far upon impact? And why the f**k would you beat a red light in a Ferrari? Recipe for disaster, it was.

Condolences to the families of the occupants of the taxi.

I heard about this. Really tragic. I hear this intersection is particularly bad for t bone accidents as well with a profoundly telling history of crashes. The Ferrari here not only blows the red but looks to be traveling at idiotic speeds considering it's in the presence of roads with cross traffic. Just no excuse. Gives exotic drivers a bad name sly.gif .

On a more academic note, consider that this was perpetrated by a man in his 30s from the PRC (you'll understand why I'm dragging nationality into this soon) driving an unbelievably rare and expensive car with a passenger who's 11 years younger and for whom people have no explanation of why she would end up his passenger. Unless it turns out they're related, I'm inclined to believe the hostess/mistress explanation despite her friends saying she was a full time student and has a boyfriend.

The above is the exact type of decadence and attitude that Mao built the PRC to prevent. While it happened in Singapore (which is another matter entirely, don't let me get into what a PR disaster this has been for immigration sentiments) it still reminds me of an incident where a woman in her Mercedes in China was honking at an old vagrant woman to get out of her way and when the vagrant didn't react fast enough, she ran the vagrant woman over. That's about as anti-communist and socialist as you can get.

The Chinese driver deserves nothing.

His wife should be ashamed of herself for demanding money from the insurance company when his reckless behavior murdered 2 innocent people

new updates for the news

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1234500/1/.html

upon investigations the ferrari was travelling at 178km/h upon the moment of impact based on the onboard camera the ferrari was fitted with and the driver set the car setting into "Race Mode" plus he was on medication which made him drowsy on that day of the accident.

so bottom line is the ferrari driver was 100% at fault

Agreed.

Too much money, too little experience with driving
