Yeah, I read the review just now; it's a letdown for a hardcore GT fan like myself. I'm not buying it.

It's.. alright. Can't say it's bad but the fact that you can't just buy whatever car you want is stupid. Have to do 2-day cycles for four manu's to be shown. And it's f**king tedious in general.

Well, as a hard-core GT player, Im probably not going to buy the game. It doesnt seem worth it to me, if I want a handheld racing game, I'll want more then this offers.

There's the problem though. How many of you guys (seriously) would be playing a game on a handheld? Probably rarely at all. I quite like the mode they implemented. True, you can't please the hardcore GT fans like you guys but what is the point of GT anyway? Driving million-dollar cars semi-realistically (realistically once GT5 comes out).

And to be honest, if you want a career mode, go Shift. Simple.

Alright, it looks and feels great. Has all the damn cars you can imagine. Has decent drifting unlike GT4. You can take all of that anywhere, anytime. I don't think anyone here would rather NOT have GTP than have it the way it is.

Still, it has no career mode. Gran Turismo is not built for the PSP because they can get at least 1.5 gig of the data. The actual data size for the game is 1.02gb. That is a possible reason why IGN gave Gran Turismo Portable a D+. I'll wait for the real deal, Gran Turismo 5.

You do remember that GT3 onwards had NO Career Mode. I'm guessing GT5 will follow that trend. Seriously, I prefer the open model they had for GT4. Career Mode? You're following Shift here.

I'm pretty sure "career" is implied as some sort of story-like mode here, be it typical like Shift or more open like GT4. It would have been nice, but I still say that lack there of doesn't really break this game.

Gran Turismo's career mode hasnt changed at all its entire series. GT1 is the same as GT5 will be.

Need For Speed SHIFT and Gran Turismo don't have a story mode. Gran Turismo mode is career mode. A career mode is built for having no stories, just earning driver levels or do training. Need For Speed Underground has career mode, but it's not actually career mode, it's story mode. We don't play racing games for stories unless it has a RPG gameplay. Need For Speed is not story-telling oriented and so is the Race Driver series. Yeah, GT5 will have the same career mode as the previous installments. Hell, it's GRAN TURISMO, not Need For Speed.

After actually sitting down w/ GTP I gotta say that I really like it. Pick any car, drift any track to your heart's content, earn $ for just fooling around and progress days to be able to buy new cars. Thats just how a portable sim racer should be.

I just unlocked a HKS S15 D1GP and having the time of my life just learning to drift around. Tedious but fun.

Eh... by the looks of GTP I'll stick to GT2 emulated on the PSP. At least it's got a career mode. Fun as.

While I never prioritize graphics, I do smooth gameplay and updated engine. GT2 has its days, but really not something I'd play today. I've tried it and it was just too outdated. Don't forget the lack of multiplayer.

@HateSkylines

Well, it's good to hear that somebody can help you. I would never brick my PSP.

On the lighter side, it's funny if Gran Turismo 2 will be sold separately in two versions on the PSN store. There may be a possible bundle, so I don't know.
