Just a random thought.

Everyone in the Maximum Tune scene aims to stand out on top with their fully tuned cars. Most especially for those who aspire to be the best in this game. People trying to take Crowns, racing against people from well renown teams, and for the sake of competition, to oust their first set of rivals in their premature live battle experience.

But there's more to that. People like them relate to the life of Akio Asakura. For Akio, he dared to race while taking the risks of high speed racing at the expressway. Braving through public roads while dodging traffic and attacking those corners... But there's more to that. He must force the "Devil Z" to listen to him. In the end of the manga, the Devil Z chose Akio.

This is the same dilemma we face. I admit that I have to try my best and see if the cars that were handed over to me are the cars that would define who I am. In short, I am also on the verge of acceptance or rejection. I compete alongside the best players only to fall short when I fail at corners or when I smash right onto the traffic. For some players, they would ask themselves if the car they made is actually "The car that defines who they are among the sea of mainstream cars". Apparently, I rarely see that.

Sometimes, I think that these are not the cars for me but to think that these cars are actually my personal favorites, I don't have to force myself to like this car and drive it all the time. I love these cars (GDB-C and BCNR33) and no matter what people would suggest or what they'll force me to do, I'd always end up with the GDB-C and the BCNR33 and prove to them that it's not the car but it's the driver.

But not all of us can't race further. There's more to life than just racing at the arcade. Apparently, as a man whose priority is to graduate anytime soon? I therefore realized that I can't be like Akio himself. For this instance, I actually bring the burdens of Koichi Hiramoto, the driver of "The Authentic Dragon".

For Koichi's side, he promised to his wife that he'll put aside racing and focus on building up for a better future together with her but one day changed his goals. From promising to build up a better future? He has decided to go grab himself an R32, modify it and challenge the Devil Z and the Blackbird. He ran a long neck and neck race against the two but in the end, he pulled back as he realized that there are more important things in life.

In our stories. We build our cars from scratch. We brave our way through tough Ghost Battles, Crown challenges and live battles for the sake of earning stars, parts, stars and more parts. We also deal with story mode to get a piece of the action and act as if you are actually competing with Reina Akikawa, Tatsuya Shima, and Akio Asakura. We may stand victorious in the story, but for some, they think they can't do it. Pessimism attacks at the moment we lose in live battles all the time. At some point in your MT life, you'll actually think that enough is enough. You want to push yourself further by trying to improve how you race but what if you're not destined to race at all? For the sake of having a better life?

Now, instead of us reliving what Akio wanted to do with his life as he faced the struggles of acceptance from his very own car, we are apparently Koichi. Anytime soon, you'll be racing along the top guns of Maximum Tune. You're neck and neck with your rivals... But for the people who took the game seriously? They got the choice to race further and win the succeeding battles or live life to the fullest and abandon the game for good. In due time, the people who aspire to be a part of those famous teams or as a great player who would stand out among the arcades... Would later on live their lives as a man of priorities.

And at some point in time, I'll be retiring the Impreza and the Skyline. Mainly because I can't keep up anymore... Or I am not destined to play this game but instead, live life as it is right now before it's too late.

Well, I use MT as an outlet, because you know how college can be right? Too much stress, add the fact that well, I don't seem to be good with people(too much of a shy-type...), it all adds up as a very heavy weight to endure...


But yeah, I feel you. Lots of people have been too serious about this game...

Sometimes, arcade tokens are cheaper than gas.

You made a lot of great points there.

The only reason why I kept playing this game is that I treat it as a hobby. I don't play always, I play weekly.

And at times, this may be odd, but playing MT5.. it did help calm my stress as I can tell. I never treat it seriously. I just like to play for fun even when I have a plan to do with my cars.

Still, what you said is actually true. Some of us have to move on after all.

The first time I got into MT is because I want to be a racing driver so bad and I have nothing to practice with so I then start to play MT..Back in MT 3 it was amazing, racing and everything. Eventhough the physics is totally b*llsh*t. Nowadays I feel the fun of racing in that game is lost, being rammed and blocked by some kids with their "I am the pro on this game" face. But yeah I cant totally stop playing this game even though I now can drive and often karting (which is much more fun btw for those of you who havent try)..probably because I dont want to forget all those real life racing skill that I have is all started from Maximum Tune.

i been playing for 10yrs talk about being old

i like video games & i like cars, so u know thats why.........also found mt easier to play then id

10yrs later i realize that i spend more money in this game then i go clubbing or drinking or raving or what not (which i rarely do anyways)

i play just for the.heck of it, i would quit then come back then quit again & then come back for not reason

i dont even play to win, seriously losing is just as fun

I play like an addict getting his fix.

Really, just like every single cast member in the series.

been playing pretty much since 2008-9ish ... i dunno i never really took this game seriously it's not the game but it's fun to hang out with friends and play something.

same thing would happen if i got into tekken or something else instead.

I stopped playing MT seriously when the number of cars I own in real life was more than the number of cards I used in the game. I still enjoy the stories since they tend to follow themes that are easy to relate to for an older audience. Hiramoto and Kuroki are the two characters I identify with mostly. Hiramoto since I went through that when I bought my own GT-R when I had to postpone my marriage for several years so I could afford to live at a bare minimum level just paying for that car at such a young age. Kuroki since now that I'm driving lots of cars there are periods when I forget that it's not just about cars and the driving experience, but the human beings behind them and that you have to make time for the people who care about you for you, and not your car.

I only play as I treat it as a hobby.

There are some weeks or even months that I don't play as I'm right now focusing more on PC and mobile gaming. Or attending anime and cosplay events, like for the last two weekends.

I will never get serious about MT as I will always be a casual player.
