QUOTE (Sailor Enlil @ Yesterday at 11:15 PM) | Perhaps back in the days of the Evo V (which Eiji has) 400bhp was considered almost unattainable for a 2.0L 4 cylinder engine, but the Evo VIII (in real life) had a 400bhp version available in the market as an option from Mitsubishi (i.e. stock, not tuned), still with the 2.0L 4-cylinder engine (according to Top Gear, this was achieved by Mitsubishi's UK division). |
im sorry but i have to correct you on tht fact...the car feature in top gear that evo 8 is not stock...its fully tuned by RALLIART UK itself...source by wikipedia In the United Kingdom, many special Evolutions were introduced, which included FQ300, FQ320, FQ340, and FQ400 variants. They each came with 305, 320, 340, and 400 hp (227, 239, 254 and 298 kW), respectively. It is rumoured that the 'FQ' stands for 'F**King Quick'.[2][3]
The FQ400, sold through Ralliart UK, produces 302.13 kW (405.2 hp), from its 2.0 L 4G63 engine as the result of being specially modified by United Kingdom tuning firms Rampage Tuning, Owen Developments, and Flow Race Engines. At 202.9 hp (151.3 kW) per litre, it has one of the highest specific output per litre of any roadcar engine. With a curb weight of 3200 lb (1450 kg), it achieves 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds, 0-100 mph in 9.1 seconds, 1/4 mile in 11.9 seconds at 121 mph (195 km/h), and top speed is 176 mph (283km/h), whilst costing £47,000. BBC's television series Top Gear demonstrated that the stock FQ-400 could surprisingly keep up with a Lamborghini Murcielago around a test track. The Stig recorded a Top Gear Power Lap Times of 1 minute 24.8 seconds, 4.2 seconds quicker than the Murcielago's time of 1 minute 29 seconds.[4] In a similar test conducted by UK supercar magazine evo, the Evolution was able to lap the Bedford Autodrome faster than an Audi RS4 and a Porsche Carrera 4Shttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_La...#Evolution_VIII

Ok, so it's not stock, but still, it's available from Mitsubishi itself (through their Ralliart sportscar division), rather than souped up by a 3rd party tuner (hence it still came with the 3-year warranty, which would have been voided had a buyer have the car tuned by a 3rd party).

QUOTE (aki_zz @ Jan 20 2009, 03:42 AM) | its quite logic to think that lan evo can produce power around 400hp. bcoz i don't think they can squeeze a lot from a 2 liter 4 cylinder engine. and its interesting to see makiko rebore the engine to make it larger, hence more torque. its my 2cents |
Well.. people has allready said that for example the EVO FQ400 is sold with 400hp "Stock" (tuned ok but you buy it directly from the Mitsubishi dealer with the full warranty as any other Mitsu, like the Colt). But you can estract a HELL lot more from a 4 pots.. For example take the Ford Sierra Cosworth "Its fun 1" If any of you have saw the "Getaway in Stocklholm" movies this appears in the credits of the 2nd movie.. since the owner is a "colaborator" to the movies in some level. I once speaked with him throught email and he was very nice , he told me that he allready had not the Sierra and now focuses in 911s (now he is with "Its fun3" a GT2 ), and that the Its fun1 Cossie was the 2.0l turbo Cosworth engine blown to 575 hp .. 575!! . He told me also that engine only lasted in that setup less than 20.000kms between total rebuilts some vids of the Itsfun1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CHBMkXT1WEhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JU3TN-h98o&feature=related*: If you dont know the "Getaway in stockholm" movies i recomend to take a look. The make one per year and now they are for the 9th. The plot is they strap some cameras to a sport car and make a run throught stockholm at late night in summer (as you probably know in sweeden there are 6 months where never gets totally dark and 6 months where never gets totally day) even daring the police to give chase (wich they do some times). They are getting boring latelly but i recomend greatly GIS1 (Porsche 911 930) GIS2 (Toyota Supra vs Ford Escort Cosworth) GIS3 (Honda NSX) and GIS4 (Honda NSX vs Corvette C5). The GIS4 is the most spectacular with cop chases.. GIS2 is the most speed freak since the Supra hits 310km/h Teaser for GIS2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quvDONF4GokTeaser for GIS4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwB4CAjTUTY (most spectacular) EDIT: Oh.. by the way and back to wangan... how in name of Batman does that girl expect a 450hp EVO to beat in pure straight high speed aceleration and top high speed a 911 turbo and the Z both with over 600hp ? I may be ignoring the drag ratio of the EVO wich with that wing and all sure its not better than those 2.. the EVO 5 weights 1300kg so its heavier than the Z and 100kg lighter than the 911 so weight is not that much important and a short gear ratio would not help either because this series battles are done in the 280-330km/h mark.. Taka was the one who trully beated both Blackbird and Z (in a way.. finally his car failed both times so he technically didnt won but both times he was having the upper hand clearly) and he needed about 800hp (wich sounds logical since the R33 is quite more heavier than both Z and 911) Surelly im wrong but i cant see a 450 EVO beating in top speed and high speed aceleration (meaning aceleration from 250km/h to the top wich in the case of Z is 330km/h) those two monsters This post has been edited by Sparrow on Mar 16 2009, 04:23 AM
