QUOTE | I think what 280Z is trying to say that if you had a roof over your head, it would be safer or less scary smile.gif Dunno, I don't like softops, I'd rather hardtop anyday, nothing really about safety or looks, rather personal preference for driving environment smile.gif |
Mmm. I understand. That was one of my main concerns when choosing to buy the S2000, but in all reality it is as safe or safer than a comparable hard-topped car. I can't stress enough how well engineered a car has to be to keep the driver as uninjured as myself after a rollover. I get the comment and the distaste for convertibles, but the S2000 has been engineered to keep you safe in such a situation. As far as the fright factor, I may have been marginally less frightened with the hardtop on; but realize the car flipped over, not many things will make that less scary. =D

i dirve a 1975 toyota corolla SR. KE35 chassis, 1200cc of fun. its not powerful, heck it even only has 4 gears.BUT it has lots acceleration, due to the engine being the rare 3K-B series from toyota. (a 1200cc twin carb engine stock from factory, with a 10.9:1 compression ratio and revs up to 6.5 - 7K, for a 1200cc engine), mated to a close ratio 4 speed rally gearbox. only modifications i've done to it is a ported and polished head, and custom exhaust piping. also the front springs are replaced by custom coilover sleeves and harder shocks. rear leaf springs have an additional 1.5: lowering block. has 13" enkei mosports and 205/60 tires. :D its a lot of fun to drive, mainly because its RWD, and especially on twisty roads and soon to run on autocross tracks. :D:D here she is at a show at a stoplight.mag launch event and then i removed the bumpers to prepare for restoration work then this is my car today: undergoing some major restoration work...... plans for my car would be to repaint it with another color and a rollcage, and a new set of rims. if i can find some advan a3a's or work equip's. hopefully to remodify the whole front suspension setup to accomodate full coilover struts with camber plates, and possibly a 4AGE engine transplant. right now im waiting for a full bucket seat with harnesses to arrive within the next month or so... :D:D:D wish me luck in the restoration process

Lol S15 and AP1 are worlds apart in what they do best S15 is to me the best all round drift machine and best bang for bucks sports car The S2000 is a purist machine, if you got the skills to control and get the most out of it, you can beat many machines including S15s. You have to be cruel to the S2000 and its NOT a drag machine, its meaningless to beat Hondas in a straight line, Turbo always beat equal or smaller NA engines in a drag. Boost a S2000 then S15 will have contest and probably get beaten by the boosted S2000 lol. Its handling is different to the S15, its much better behaved than a S15 ie tail of the car isn't like a dog that needs to go to the toilet. Far more precise than the S15 could ever hope to be. I've played with an AP1 at a trackday while entertained my own 2 part owned Silvias with my friends (S13 K and S15 Spec R, drift project cars) so I'm no stranger to both VinceVega, your S15 looks good but I wonder what you've done to it because from what I see, its says Spec S lol Not exactly a earthshaker and a S2000 stock more than enough to dispatch you IF your really are a Spec S This post has been edited by DreadAngel on Sep 30 2007, 05:44 AM

QUOTE | My best friend has one, lacks balls ( The 2 litre motor) you need to rev the hell out of it to get anything and the handling is OK but nothing special, I've seen one beaten by a Camry Altise in a race |
I agree, straight line speed is terrible, but I live in a mountainous area. So I spend most of my time driving winding one lane roads, and not to mention the straight roads we have are full of cops. My new S2000 isn't as weak, power-wise, as a stock S; it makes 238whp, not the stock 237bhp. The roads that get raced here are dominated by S2000s, EGs, and heavily modded 240SXs. There are the occasional STi or EVO that blows everyone away, but they're owned by people with deep pockets.
I'm planning on either boosting or building a monster N/A car; in the latter case it'll be stroked and ITBed which should give it some real power.
I haven't had the chance to drive an S15, I'm in the US, but I've driven a fair few of SR20ed 240s, and they have balls; it's just that there's no reason to have stupid power here.

QUOTE (VinceVega @ Today at 3:15 PM) | Here in Australia all S15's are turbo, the only difference between Spec R and S is a few trivial things like a 6 stack cd player and a sunroof, as to the handling it seems you know abit about these car's but S15's are very easy to handle just tail happy (being a RWD car) It's fun every once and awhile and very predictable, try driving an old school Porsche Carrera, same deal except you don't know when it will step out, scary shit! |
Errrr... Spec S was available through Nissan dealers mate lol and I've seen many wannabe Spec Rs floating around hehehe Oh I know the handling of the S15, if your good with it, its every bit as entertaining as a grip machine as the S2000 is but it loves having the tail wiggling so it seems rude not to leave it out there smoking away hehehe. Aus Spec 200SX is watered down though, probably due to the lack of good fuel and different turbocharger and engine tuning Not having a go at ya mate, just saying keep an open mind about all cars If you appreciate all cars for what they are, you'll find it very enjoyable talking to owners of any car This post has been edited by DreadAngel on Sep 30 2007, 09:35 PM
