i got my ps3 today even thought the game hasnt shown up, or my ps2 version. fyi i bought a ps3 at this point in time simply to play this game (i did order gt5 prologue today it didnt even cross my mind there was another game i needed, and initial d at the time i ordered wangan)

i was just wondering if it lets you do aero stuff? i could wait and see but wheres the fun in that.
and not to get off topic but is the gameplay in the ps2 one similair or is it totally different, as far as the modes, and the cards...i tried to time it so i could play that one first but not looking like its working out that way oh well

The PS2 game sucks. Be very glad that the PS3 game plays completely differently. Seriously, what were you thinking buying the PS2 game. I hope you got it for cheap, 'cause I just can't say it enough... it SUCKS.

You can add spoilers, change mufflers, and put on carbon fibre hoods in the PS3 game. That's the limit to customization. If you're looking for a particular aero kit, you'll have to hope that one of the manga characters uses it.

from wat i've heard from other friends...the ps3 game is very diff to the arcade..
is this correct? and is it worth getting? (u may have already talked bout it..but i sorta cbf trying to go thru it all haha)

It is very different, because they're made by completely different companies. Bandai Namco makes Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune. Genki makes Wangan Midnight (PS3). Notice that they are two completely different companies, and the PS3 game is not called "Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune" because it is, in fact, a completely different game.

I prefer the PS3 game to the arcade. Way more realistic, and holy shit 1080p is so sexy I could die.

im so glad ps3 has an hdmi output. on of the many reasons the 360 is inferior, well im too cheap to buy or find their cable. i know one comes with the elite. if i wanted to pay for an elite, i would have just bought a ps3 back then.

i cant wait...and i paid like 10 bucks more for the ps2 version hahaha live and learn. but i read it was made off the txr0 engine so by that logic it should be semi decent...i hoped

Wangan Midnight for the PS3 is just like TXR0 for PS2. Maximum Tune is...well...Initial D for all intensive purposes. That's the run down. And, 1080p is SO great.

fyi i work for dish and 1080p tv isnt that far away either they already have ppv and on demand 1080p movies, just nothing ive wanted to watch yet. 1080i in the true hd shows is pretty decent as it is.

i doubt its just like it, but i know its similiar. thats why i bought a ps3.

of course it showed up at the beginning of the work week. i managed ton get thru almost all of the z stages. only got one gold but im just flying thru to play the game. its pretty fun, i dont have a problem with the steering like some people, probably because im so used to genki games.
i do see why some people would like a port from the arcade or at least similair mode, that would make this game like twice as good.

yea so the ps2 version is on the cd format, no one ever mentioned that. i cant even get it to play so that alone does make it suck. tried adjusting the laser and everything no dice. i do have an og release ps2 so i would think it would be able to work. best 50 bucks i ever spent. i am using boot discs for all my import games, maybe for some reason its the fact its an import and on cd format?


but i did highly enjoy the ps3 one for sure. im still going back to get better ranks but i finished it the other day. good game.

I have this game and I have played the psp version. The only thing I got a question on is if there is some sort of psp-ps3 connectivity thingy cause I never heard of that till seeing this thread.

Game is fun. When I first played was really confused since I didnt understand the card tune up. after looking it up online got the hang of it and is great. Whats the fastest speed have you guys clocked in on the testing ground???

clocked: 407km/h on the R33 (white)
trying to get higher km/h: 417 on the supra.... (fail before checkpoint)

i think i saw avid were someguy got to 420? its on youtube somewhere
