Although the engine noises are really loud and all, it's disappointing, because the engine sounds good, but I don't hear the sound of the turbo. The Blackbird is also missing the woosh of the turbo. As the engine becomes more powerful and gets bigger turbos that woosh becomes more prominent, and I'm not hearing it which disappoints me some.

You're right. I noticed it on the Z when Akio was revving it right after he got it but I didn't notice it afterward.

I'm probably going to watch the episode again today so I'll pay closer attention to the details this time through.

Three times, now.

Guys, the second episode comes out THIS WEEKEND. The series will be released on a TWO EPISODES PER MONTH BASIS. Starting with this weekend and episodes 1 and 2. Version 2 of the subs will be much better, as I've also been shown a few other errors, hahaha. Stupid me and my speedsubbing, hitting the wrong keys.

For Mac, I suggest using VLC Media Player. For Windows PC, I suggest installing CCCP (http://cccp-project.net) and using Media Player Classic, and for Linux PC I suggest looking into mPlayer or ZoomPlayer.

This is just a simple XviD encode... there shouldn't be any problems.

So far I really like it, but it does come with at least for me a few downsides.

I have mixed feelings on the music, I don't like the OP/ED songs as they just don't seem to fit with Wangan. The rest of the music is alright, some of it I don't like at all, it doesn't fit and isn't music I'd listen to, some of the other selections are really good and fit really well. So it's a mixed bag for me.

Well my only answer for the first part is that it is the first episode and undoubtly there will be changes, minor ones, to certain aspects of the show. And as the series goes on, cars do get faster, so perhaps that certain "woosh" sound will appear.

As far as everything else goes I havent said much on the show yet since theres only one episode out and its quite hard to really look at a show with only so little out. Though I do enjoy the opening by TRF, I think it captures the "feel" for the show nicely. I was a bit worried that the music might include Eurobeat and try to be a Initial D spinoff; which it is not. For the rest of the music, it goes along well.

I hope though that this show isnt drawing the wrong crowd. By that I mean, people who watched Initial D and now that it isnt running are looking for another racing show. Not that WM isnt, its just that there is a lot more emphasis on characters, tuning, and lifestyle beyond racing.

Only time will tell I suppose.

I guess to back up AsakuraZ on this...Allow me to clear up some things I've deduced from reading the Manga and playing the arcade game religiously sleep.gif;; Basically.... Akio JUST got the Z.. It's technically "un-tuned" and only has around 500HP right now. This is when Kochan had just fixed it up. That's why he has the old mirrors and the fog lights. Now...Later on in the series, just like Asakura says.. Is when they meet Jun Kitami. He basically gets his dirty hands in there and fixes up the Z. That's when we'll most likely hear the WHOOSH and see the Z much faster, along with the aero mirrors and the different front spoiler. If you're really good too, you'll notice the "final Z" also has straight silver wantanabes rather then the chrome and black finish. In the games he has Bronze but in the manga and now series (you'll notice in the intro if you look closely..because they switch Z's from first to second) he has silver rims. Also, the Black Bird will be faster and tuned by Kitami, and also get a different front spoiler with the large fog lights. Take a look too, in the anime he only has single exhaust, so he has to get the duals too. If you remember in..I think race 67 or something of WMMT2 where you race blackbird and Kitami, that's where Blackbird gets tuned by Kitami. So we have a ways to go before we see the final Z variant and the final Black Bird variant. Keep in mind..Akio has a few crashes too go. smile.gif

Now I have a question for everyone.... Anyone know where the heck we can get the music? I want it on my iPod so I can play the game with that music... :x Good stuff.

I think it has 620hp, but otherwise your point is valid.

@Alice_Z: Listen to Nomake_Wan and grab CCCP. I used Winamp to watch it, personally.

Nope. I forgot where I read...But the max HP the car actually gets is 611 PS. The max the Black Bird gets is 700. The Legendary FC is the only car to actually reach 820. Plus if you look at how fast he was accelerating and the speed he was reaching and how fast he was reaching it..It looked to be around 500 horsepower. I'm not judging that by the game neither..I'm judging that from my friends 600 hp car. smile.gif

Point is... Thats why him and the blackbird always match up. Blackbird weighs alot more, but has more power. Z weighs less but has less power. If I'm not mistaken, I think the Blackbird is single large turbo. The Z is twin turbo. It's sorta like evo vs. STI. One has more power to it..but weighs more...but the other has less horsepower but weighs less and handles better...But the other has this...other has that...blah blah.

Better save some of my bandwidth to accomodate for version 2 subs.. I also 2nd Zelse's question of does anyone know where to get the music from the series. I found myself humming to the opening theme at work today... happy.gif

Well the single by TRF, "Lights and Any More",will not be released till around August. Per certain TRF fan sites. Theres no current info on the WM anime OST yet, but in the coming months to come we should hear some news. Dont expect though to be able to buy the OST for some time.

Gotcha. Asakura, do you agree with some of the info I provided above after your post? just curious on your two cents on that. Also, I PM'd Hara regarding volunteering to help out on the forums and all that..should I have PM'd you? Just quick question on that.

Forgot to mention...To all those who DO NOT know... Various things Kitami does to the Z are...Change the turbo... bore and stroke the engine..a lot of engine balancing and port and polishing from my understanding. Just a quick reference is that the final variant of the Z has a 280 Z L28 engine, bored and stroked from 2.8liters to 3.2 liters, and is twin turbo'd. If you listen to the sound of the engine in the anime right now..The car sounds like the L28 engine, and in some scenes you can sort of hear the turbo spool up, but it doesn't sound beefy like a bored and stroked engine would...So that's another hint towards Kitami's tuning.

From my understanding, another mechanic comes in later in the series and installs the F-1 turbo in the Z. At least that's what I can make out from the pictures.

Your information sounds accurate. I have many mangas of WM on hand but my lack of knowledge of the japanese language hinders me at times. I do have the Index and Super Tuning books, which list specifics specs and upgrades done to the cars and in the future I wish to get that translated and have a thread that lists the cars and there upgrades.

As far as PMing goes, either or both is fine. We both moderate and do equal work. Im usually on the forums M-F 7AM-4PM mainly because at work Im on a computer and the site is usually up in the backround. And from there I can answer any direct questions members have and get back in a timely manner.

On another note, an interesting fact is that after the Blackbird is in a crash, they practically rebuild the car from the ground up, including a new body, engine, larger turbo and many other parts to list. Its nice to see that Akio also helps with its rebuilding. A nod that even though Tatsuya and Akio are rivals, they wish to see each other get faster.

the Lights and Any More song, is decent and catchy, the one thing I don't like about it is the sound reminds me too much of move and just starts off giving me a feeling like it's going to imitate Initial D, even though I know it won't. The only thing I hope that doesn't stay a constant is the rap type music they were using especially at the end.

As far as the engine sounds go, it's still a TT when he gets it, and from the way my L28ET sounds in my 280ZXT I can hear the turbo alot better than in the show, so who knows. Anyway I can't wait to see ep 2. I'm glad Wangan has finally gotten an anime, it just sucks because I hope this doesn't skyrocket the price of the 240Z before I've had a chance to get one.

I just saw the first episode of WM and I had a blast. However, there's only 1 thing I don't understand in the story.

Who's the guy driving the Devil Z at the beginning? Is it the main character or a previous owner? Because the Z went to the used car lot...

If you read the Japanese after that scene, you'll notice it says "A few months earlier." So basically they did the sort of flashback deal. Basically it was showing Akio pwnanza-ing on the highway, and then it flashed back to when and how he obtained the Z. Don't worry, I got a bit confused too at first.

I was a little surprised at how they did the engine sound. It sounds almost like an NA L28 with EFI to me. You can just barely hear a bov. In the movie they used the real sound of a triple mikuni turbo L28, and it was definitely authentic. Once you drive a z with triple mikunis you will never forget that sound.

Maybe they will change it later in in the show. The art is amazing, anyway.

Definantly agree with the art being amazing, and yeah, sure am talking about Yamato. I guess the best way to show you guys the three big top dudes that work on the Z, including Kitami..Would be watch the intro for the PS2 game. Link below:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=5vQ2nWDQaiQ

It's Kitami, Yamato, and Tominaga. Yamato apparently did little work from my understanding. Sort of like how Kochan simply restored it for Akio.

BTW awesome job on the subbing Nomake. smile.gif
