So if anyone remembers my rebuild that seemed to be on hold well not anymore. Started Collecting the final bits and pieces needed that the machine shop will need.

So heres where I stand now pictures below are the same internals i purchased 4 years ago plus with the new addition of ARP Head Studs.



Cleaned up the Oil Squirter Nozzels at work today using the parts washers. Took the 18+ years of varnish off they look brand new. I have new bolts for these. OEM Parts pile below this pic.





Also decided to pick up a new torque wrench just to make everything feel fresher.



More updates coming tomorrow when the torque plate arrives.

Motor is at the machine shop right now dropped it off tuesday.
Torque Plate arrived so now we wait.



Painting my cam cover right now.

Picked up the head that will be used for this motor today pics below. This is off a 90 Cressida so it one of the last "performance based" heads Toyota did for the 7M Cast #14 the later heads were more for fuel economy rather than performance. Its also never been machined making this a virgin head also never suffered a BHG.

News from the machine shop, crank has been ground, the block is currently being bored.

Hey Derek, any updates? Whats your plan with the head, I wanna see those ports shine!

BTW, I like your method of achieving low compression pistons, just kidding.

Short block is finished going to pick it up next week when i get to borrow my friends van. In the mean time.

Black is going to make it a bit hard to spot leaks...O_o? But still badass lol

Well Update engine is 75% assembled. Needs oil pump, oil feed line, and I need to finish the oil cooler circuit.

HKS Stopper I had to wait a month for this thanks to HKS USA closing up shop here. No supplier had any left in stock in the states. Worth the wait these are quite impressive.



you can really see the stopper ring around each cylinder hole.


I took the head to the machine shop, decided for a basic rebuild, 3 angle valve job, and have them install my new valve springs in anticipation for cam upgrade in the future.

Big update

Starting piecing together my full flow oil cooler setup got a few bits in.

The oil cooler i got came in a few days ago. Im going to mount it in the stock location, its a 12 row.



Last of the goodies i need to set up my oil cooler.



I went with the Earls 180 Tstat need to figure out where to mount it



Fittings look funky but itll allow me to use it in the stock location.

So my pops ended up getting me those 10mm Plug wires and damn they are thick. Slightly longer and taller than stock though. Im currently messing with them on the stand trying to find out the best way to cleanly route them.
They look awesome with the black valve covers.

OEM motor mounts came in, thank you RockAuto.


Fitted the crank scraper had to dremel some of the bolt holes as they were off slightly.





Primed the oil pump, and fitted the ARZ Hardline.


















FIPG makes such a big mess...



Used a f**kton and a half of FIPG....hey i dont like leaks...







Now i just need to put the go fast goodies on

My pops finally started work on the wiring for me, as we are getting ready to drop the motor in next week. So the starter will have fresh wiring, as will the cold start injector.



I mocked up the Oil cooler, and the other tid bits today so I knew how long my hose had to be. Of course the picture wouldnt be complete without my cat chillin in the background.

So I started organizing all the pieces that will be going on during the swap. New shroud to replace my broken one.



Break in oil Rotella T1 Straight 30W, ATF for PowerSteering and a Toyota D3 oil filter (I bought a bunch of those when I was working at the dealership)



Toyota Red, Toyota T-IV, Hoses, motor mounts, and other goodies to help the swap and start up process smoother.



As of today I Assembled some of my hose.

Automotive section is pretty dead atm. This is also the longest(time wise) build thread I've ever seen.

Going on 5 years, it's been quite the 'dusty trail' for JDMMA70 to say the least.

We need to revive the Automotive Section, I'm contemplating a thread as-well.

The best builds are the ones that span years into decades. If you look at all the serious builds here they don't get updated that often.

There he is! Yeah its been 5yrs, and I honestly can't believe I'm finally at this point, all the blood, sweat, and tears not to mention money I've sunk into this rebuild. I've got some people suggesting a 1JZ VVTi motor would've been a better choice over these years. However at this point right now, I feel as if this 7M the way they should've come factory. BIG update is coming Saturday. Hows tthe R32 doing J?

Busy being expensive. What else is new. I had to replace all 4 tires from a blowout. For the price of 1 tire, I can replace all 4 on the Z.. I'm just glad I don't have a track porsche.. for 1 street tire on the GT-R... I'd get one on there.

When you scale things up it really puts things into perspective. But I'll get to where I want to be eventually. I have my whole life to build this car.

Well heres where it all started on Saturday

So I was surprised to see this in the shop a 280Z getting a repaint.




There she is ready to come out.

All buttoned up and primed.


First start up didnt go so smooth the injectors were leaking but after that was sorted it fired right up. This is the impressive part for anyone who knows 7Ms. Hot Idle oil pressure was 10-15psi and at 2800rpms 75psi. so its pretty nuts.
