We have a lizard up in the mountainous provinces that people call "Bayawak"... They say its a delicacy but I have yet to taste one since the one that was caught in camping trip a long time ago got away... I wonder if that lizard in the picture is edible as well... grin2.gif

I saw a show on TV ware this American guy was hunting Uromastyx with these guys in Saudi Arabia. He tried some of the meat but he tasted awful. If I was given the chance I would try it.

oh, that way...
its actually dangerous, cause some times scorpions live with them, so you could get bit real bad...
there are alot of other ways to catch it...
example:
- chasing him with a car until he is away from his hole
- putting dates or real sh** so that he comes out
- filling his hole with Water
etc...

Turtle Soup... hn... why not? laugh.gif

As for the "bayawak", we just dug a very deep hole in the ground, put in a large metal drum (the container, not the musical instrument) and covered it with some leaves to make it look like a habitable place for them lizards... unfortunately, it wasn't deep enough and it got away from its delectable fate... fear2.gif

If you ever manage to catch a Uromastyx that size alive you could sell it for quite a bit in the US.

no...
it was shot with an AK-47, they tried everything else, but it wouldn't penetrate his skin... (check the holes in his chest)
you know, they used to use the Uromastyx skin as shield's, because there skin's are rough so that they can endour the 120+ degrees in the desert...

Thats fine. I personally don't like to keep wild animals. If I found one that size I would try using it for breeding and once I had eggs I would let it go.
