The cars quite often have different tires on the front and back, and the owner may have quite a few sets. This is because a single afternoon of drifting can destroy a new set of tires. As a rule, good tires go on the front for good steering. On the back, hard-compound tires are used, quite often second-hand ones tend to end up in a cloud of smoke. 15" wheels are common on the rear, as 15" tires are cheap. As a driver gets better, they will most likely want to upgrade the tires used in the rear for a higher grip compound. Although cheap/hard tires are fun purely for their slipperiness and ease of drifting, they quickly become a hazard for high-speed drifts. More advanced drivers require the most grip possible from all 4 tires, so as to retain control adequately during high speed drifts. Competitive drifters often run DOT approved tires closer to racing tires, which is permitted, with the exception of some major championships including D1GP which only permits commercially available tires that are approved by them. The grip is required for control, speed, and a fast snap on the initial entry.

racing 3 other people on hakone is nice... for one, o could use them as pillows when it comes to u-turns... i did that so many times without the proper intentions and it felt nicee.... grin2.gif

but seriously, i'd pick a highway race anytime anyday...
Mountain racing is better at initial d. they got nice tracks for touge racing. Love tsukuba grin2.gif

In games, it really depends on how I feel. But, seeing as how I beat Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero and 3 a few times already. And, I'm just now beating Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift 2 (Kaido Battle 3) for the first time...Expressway. ^^

Irl...expressway racing for me, please. I feel much more comfortable going 150+ mph, than I would going through turn after turn on a mountain. That...and, have you ever seen a mountain in Minnesota???

I like highway more than mountain. I tap the wall way too much in mountains. Anything over 500hp would be too hard to control for me in mountains.

That makes a lot of sense. Mountain passes are also great for racing, the racer will learn a lot of skills when to brake, shift, drift, turn at right time and moment.
When it comes to highways and its corners, it is much easier to race and manage the car if the racer/driver is utterly good in mountain racing which is a very great advantage, nevertheless the racers who like/love highways might have difficulties and disadvatages on mountain passes. Thats what I see in a different perspective smile.gif

Highway!! The very same reason why I chose MT3 over ID4.
I can say that circular tracks ARE highways. C1-NBL-Osaka
BTW highways are not defined by being a very straight stretch of road.

When I discovered MT, and got tired of ID, simple as that.

IRL if I was to choose between either one, it would be mountain because, well, its cheaper. You don't necessarily need 500+ HP to drive down the side of mountain, but on the highway power is the difference between winning and losing in most races.

i like both but im more of highway than mountain, because im kind of tired of mountains since you can drift in streets too. but in the mountains you can do touge.

I prefer the natural feel of the mountains. Plus, there's less of a chance of me endangering other motorists if I'm all alone on the mountains.

If I race on the highways, there's a higher risk of harming innocent motorists. Don't want other people's blood on my hands.

And other people dont drive on mountain passes?

Fact is, those are public roads as well... and you're probably more dangerous there, than on the highway.

There are many factor why people hate mountain pass:
1.Sharper turns
2.More multiple corners
3.Narrower road
4.more uphill and downhill stage
5.2 way course, not like highways which are mostly of them are 1 way.
6.harder to predict a good racing line
7.darker

But for me all of them is challenges so I like Mountain Pass

Highways at midnight, little to no traffic, = high speed racing!
Mountains=Easier to get away from cops because sometimes they don't get walkie-talkie/radio service up in the mountains.
