security software?....... nope. (I don't think there's any.)
Do what I do..... take you the memory card when you left the PSP in a place for a while (no memory card, no music, no games, no internet (since you need to save the password on it))

You can use the internet without the memory card. I should know, when I first got my psp without a card that's all I used it for. But you can't save bookmarks, history, or cookies etc.

NFS pro street is actually a terrible game on PSP. It's really not worth getting. Plenty of better games. What you want is Test Drive Unlimited if you have internet connection. You can play that for hours. Another option is flashing your PSP and playing PS1 games. I've been working my way through Gran Turismo 2 for a while. But Definitely get Crisis Core. God of War is overrated too. My choices are:
  • Patapon
  • Locoroco
  • Me & My Katamari
  • Test Drive PSP
  • Tekken Dark Resurection
  • Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories
  • Fast and Furious
  • Tales of the World - Radient Mythology
  • and Brave Story - New Traveler

There are many other great PSP games out there that I haven't had a chance to play, but just try them for yourself. Isos are the way to go.

yeh god of war is overrated.. finished it in 5 hours. core crisis and test drive unlimited have the best gameplay value, cos you can just keep playing. especially if you have internet for testdrive, as Midnight Star said. initial d is good as well happy.gif

sshh..... that why I can control, and left mine, at home (since the time I put custom firmware in it, my brother is asking every time for it, and sometimes he takes it without permission)...... you can access the internet, but without memory card, you got not pictures, no music, no videos, and neither games (unless you want to start the game every time you put it on).

for PSX games, I use the default emulator of the PSP.
best way to find games are through torrents (I can't find them from direct download)

all psx games play exactly the same as on the original console. No lag, but games that use the L3 and R3 buttons are impossible to play since there's not enough buttons on psp. I played the first mission of FF8 through fine and got bored of it. You can usually pre-converted games for psp in torrent sites that work well. Only minor problem is psx games are quite large. 600mb per disk. So you'll need at least a 4gig memstick. M33 firmware can play psx games natively like Isos too.

have you ever encountered this problem? i bought a psp-2000 from my coworker after having mine stolen... he says he sold it coz of the scratch on the back... well, anyways i noticed 2 outstanding problems...

1) the memory stick that came with it loads significantly slower than the one i had (though we bought our units from the same store), and transferring ISO's from my pc to the stick takes soooooo long... the store keeper sez it was not high-speed....

2) the unit cannot play UMD's while mine can... i hear the motor and seeing that the psp is displaying its version of the windows hourglass, then after 5 or so minutes, it gives me a cannot read disc message

my 1st psp's firmware is 3.71 M-33 while my coworker's is 3.80 M-33... FYI

can you recommend a few things to check out and have the store fixed? both our units are still under warranty, fortunately

Well I don't know if there's an option to turn off the UMD drive but it's worth looking at the recovery menu. Boot up the PSP while holding the R button.

1- depends of the memory stick. have the SanDisk Ultra II 2GB card, and its way faster than the normal one. So, I can't tell how slow it is.

2- sounds bad, check by upgrading the firmware, if problems continue, send it to sony (with original firmware, they don't accept custom ones) to fix it. My friend have a similar problem, and he wanted me to open it and fix it. It's hard, but possible to get to the back of the PSP.

hi, anyone have a WEP passphrase converter for psp? i think the psp accepts the WEP key itself, rather than the passphrase... this usually happens when i go out to eat and the manager gives us the passphrase if we want to use thei wifi

btw, i find street supremacy cool...

BTW, regarding my memory stick problem, i noticed that all fmv's are like slow, and pauses per second, the worst one was in crisis core, like i had to put up with the frame-by-frame pausing... anyway i can get that back to normal? or is it time to buy a hi-speed memory stick... and btw, does the SanDisk memory stick perform better than the Sony one in terms of data access and transfer speed?

I use the sandisk Ultra II memory card, and I can say that it's way faster than a normal memory stick.

I got some great new games these past few days. Finally got a hold of the english version of Crisis Core. Story is great, but the battle system is annoying. They've thrown out exp points and everything. Leveling up is now by chance. That kinda sucks, but graphics wise, it's great.

Gundam Seed Federation vs Z.A.F.T is an awesome new game I got too. This game is so much fun people. It's only in jap, but it's easy to understand for those of us who can't read the moonrunes. Giant robot fighting action! Multiplayer is so much fun too. A friend of mine has this game too and we're always playing.

Finally, last game I got is Taiko no Tatsujin portable. The crazy drum game from the arcade now on psp. This thing is pretty addictive. Graphics are all 2D but they look sweet. I'd recomend this one too. Great for bus rides etc.

Medal of honor prolly wouldn't make it onto my favourites list...

I haven't played call of duty yet, but I have medal of honor. The story mode is really frustrating. it's not hard, just that you're always killed by your allies grenades. The game would be easier if you had no allies...

Online mode is slightly fun. Capture the flag is nice if you have 32 players on at the same time, but otherwise, the game is rubbish. Controls are horid...

TDU is far from realistic on PSP at least though, It's just more fun than Pro Street. Pro street was just really crap... But seriously, when was the last time you took a Lambo on a bush bash in hawaii? biggrin.gif
