1st person is a lot easier for me.
I can get closer to the walls and I have a better feel for what line my car is taking. I watched some people race my Yokohane King Ghost and I went "WTF I'm DRIVING AGAINST THE WALL?!" on a lot of turns I had cut them so close, that if I were any close I'd be pressed against the wall. driving in 3rd person would freak me out too much. Though, I do hate being stuck on someones ass in 1st person. I'm really lucky I've memorized Yokohane Down/Haneda. if it weren't for knowing where every turn and car is, i'd get screwed doing runs on it if i'm behind someone. |

I used to use 3rd person ALL THE TIME in racing games. I couldn't get used to 1st person at all. then I started playing Initial D, and HAD to use 1st person because driving in 3rd was to freaking scary (I dont' like to know that I'm inches away from the wall 100% of the time)
then I started using 1st in gran turismo, then ended up using 1st in every driving game I own. it takes some getting used to, but I think once you get used to it, you can visualize the lines better, and cut even closer to the walls than you can in 3rd. but you still get a screen full of ass when you get stuck behind someone. |

I race 3rd person view. Because i wanna see my car. Plus, in real life, you're not that close to the ground, so i'm getting used to real life driving, even if this isn't real life driving. The only time i use 1st person is when i wanna know where they are.

you'd be surpised how close to the ground you really are when you're in a car. but the bodywork hides all of that so you don't notice it.
in my 78 280z, my ass is something like 8-12in off the street, but it sure doesn't feel like that with that huge hood sticking out in front of me. |

Using 1st person since daytona..
Now in MT I also use 1st.. 3rd is only for Wangan, to see the road condition.. Then back to 1st for ninja-ing..  |
