Does CCCP work better than K-Lite codec pack? I don't even kow what half the stuff in KLCP does.

If you had clicked the link I posted, you would know the answer to that. wink2.gif

QUOTE (Nomake Wan @ Jan 4 2008, 07:50 PM)
Are you talking about the raws or the DVD rips? If the DVD rips, then the reason is because you have not properly configured AC3Filter. If you are using something other than AC3Filter, then uh... sorry. Anyway what you want to do is set normalization the way you want it. This will adjust all sound that goes through AC3 filter to be at the same relative level. Solves the "DVDs/DVD Rips are quiet" problem. It's not an issue with the files, really.

Things not looking right I can't comment on, I have the actual DVDs for episodes 1-8 and they look fine.

I guess I should post what I use for decoding just in case someone benefits from experience.

DVD Decoder: nVidia PureVideo Decoder (GeForce 7900GS)
General Video/Audio Decoder: Combined Community Codec Pack
XviD Decoder (disabled XviD in CCCP): Koepi's XviD Decoder
h.264 Decoder (disabled h.264/AVC in CCCP): CoreAVC Professional 1.6
AC3 Decoder (disabled AC3 in CCCP): AC3Filter
Main Media Player: Media Player Classic 6.4.9.0

That's it, really.

EDIT: If you watch something with VLC, then "updating your codecs" won't change a damn thing. VLC uses its own internal codecs and is not affected by what you have installed on your system.

Actually I had a couple of problems with 3-6 after burning it OK problem one was that it was very quiet. Problem number two was that it shrunk the screen way down so it all was squatted down...sorta like if you play a wide screen version in a regular TV.

First two that I burned was really REALLY nice!....But 3-6 the subs where great but just those two problems happened:( not that I'm complaining about them I just wanted it to be known that there was a problem is all:)

The subbed versions of 3-6 from HG-F use the AC3 audio from the DVDs. So again, your AC3 decoder of choice is not normalizing the volume, and as a result you get quiet audio.

Again... can't comment on the "doesn't look right" since I can't replicate the issue you're describing. They work just fine on here.

Normally I would lock a thread like this, but I'm feeling nice today so I'll just merge it with the Episodes 7-8 thread.

*merged above post with 7-8 thread*

just out of curiosity...
How far are you done Episodes 7-8?
and why don't you just sub the raws that other people provide, instead of the dvds?

I'm skipping your first question because this one is far more interesting.

Could you clarify what you mean? Do you mean, "Why aren't you going to use Q-R's rips of the DVDs instead of ripping the DVDs yourself?" Or do you mean, "Why not use the TV raws immediately instead of waiting for the DVDs?"

Either one would have an interesting answer. Or perhaps your question did not mean either of those?

Okay.

Q: Why are you ripping DVDs yourself? Why not just use Q-R's rips?
A: I've seen Q-R's rips, and they're okay. The trouble with these are that they are encoded based on how Q-R feels it should be done. This means that they really cut back quality during the opening and ending sequences, and there are portions during races where the cars do not move smoothly. This is especially prevalent during scene changes. The real DVDs do not have these problems, so I will be ripping them to satisfy my own idea of what "quality" is. My mission is to get as close to the DVD as I can without a huge filesize. You guys have no idea how pretty these DVDs really are!

Q: Why even bother waiting for DVDs? Why not use TV raws?
A: Two reasons. One, TV raws are shit. Two, I'm already way behind, just in case you guys hadn't noticed already. So as long as I'm behind, it would be pointless to bother with TV raws. Once I'm caught up to the broadcast schedule, I'll go back to doing TV raws first and DVDs later.

I'm starting to think that I will have to ask a bigger fansub like those that do Bleach and Naruto to do this anime in exchange for monetary support of their site.

It sucks that the groups that do Wangan Midnight can't have everything ready to go just hours after the show airs. I guess I'm spoiled by said larger fansub groups.

It's not being spoiled. That's the way it's supposed to be. Fansubs should be released a few hours after being aired to 2 weeks maximum. I remember waiting for almost 2 weeks for some episodes of Initial D 4th stage. The Wird took over for some episodes thank god. I was almost hoping this would happen with Wangan as well, but sadly no.

I know we're supposed to be patient and all, but for God's sakes, this is getting ridiculous. It's been 3 months since those eps aired and nothing yet. Maybe you should rethink your name and allow more people to work with you. You obviously don't have enough time to do this on your own and you're pulling the fans along with you.

Don't mean to be mean, but anybody that knows big fansubbing groups, please voice your opinion and get other groups to fansub this great series.

To add to the statement above, yes we know you dont get paid to sub the episodes, but fan subs are just that, fans of the show that sub for the enjoyment of everyone who does not understand the original language. If you need help, ask someone else to sub the series, instead of taking 3 months for something that would usually be out within hours to a couple of days depending on the the series. I couldnt believe it when I heard Wangan Midnight was going to come out as an anime when 4th stage was finished, but I certainly did not expect to be left wondering for weeks and months when the next episode would be coming out. Regardless, we appreciate your work.

I'm sorry I just had to quote it again because it screams of extreme douchebaggery. ohmy.gif

I would like to know where this rule came from or when it took effect. "That's the way it's supposed to be" huh? Wow, just wow. unsure.gif

Those are for people who have the business for subbing anime (or movies, etc.)
Be happy... Nomake upload a preview to tell everyone that the job is going to get done soon.
But relax a little bit, the episode(s) should be done soon.

Oh man. I gotta say, out of all the <3/>_< posts on this forum, yours takes the cake. Oh man... okay, so I'll respond to this one first, then to the rest of the thread.

1.) Go ahead and ask! Please! If a large group takes it on, I'm sure they'd get it out sooner and do a much better job, what with their huge staff that splits the workload. Seriously, if someone huge took a liking to Wangan Midnight it would be a great relief.

2.) Oh hey, Bleach and Naruto? Would that be Dattebayo you're talking about? Because if it is, then LO-fu*king-L! Dattebayo is NOTORIOUS for being total dickheads to their fans and refusing any suggestions for series. And most "large" fansub groups likewise have a policy saying that they will not take suggestions for series to fansub, because so many people ask them. Groups sub what they like. Which goes right into:

3.) Wangan Midnight (niche) is not Bleach (Mainstream) or Naruto (Mainstream). Take for example, going up to a random kid two years ago. Ask them what Naruto is and they'll probably spout stuff off. Ask them what Bleach is, they'll probably spout stuff off. Ask them what Wangan Midnight is and get kicked in the shins. Wangan Midnight follows Initial D in that it's a niche show that caters to a specific group of people... except that Wangan Midnight doesn't have nearly the pre-existing following that Initial D did when the Anime came out. You'll find that quite a few Wangan fans are carry-overs from Initial D.

So it all comes back around to, "I like this show. I feel like subbing it because I like it, and when it's done then I'll share. I don't have to do this, because I understand the Japanese and therefore could just watch the raws and forget about it." If you want it done on your schedule, learn Japanese or pray you've got a connection in a more "professional" fansub group.

While I like money and all, I'm not accepting donations. It's not fair to you guys. I work for a living, and that work overrules anything I do on the computer. So if someone gives me money with the expectation that I'll finish sooner but I work my butt off in real life, then the donation "was for nothing." Life > Wangan. Don't donate.

So that should about cover things. Any questions?

BESIDES "when is it coming out you prick?"
