in the case of sickness, you basically need doc's note, in the case of heaven forbid.. deaths in family, just a call from parent to the teacher should be fine

the reason they are strict in that sense is because apparently, the course has a lot of content and you cant really miss a class, i skipped the first day of that class and i got a warning in the email from the prof..>_>
