Over the years I have owned a number of controllers for my PC, because side scrollers and shooters just do not work on a keyboard, at all. This can be proved by playing Super Mario World.

The problem is, these controllers are either very very VERY VERY crappy and unresponsive to begin with, or they break after a month or two of use and no refund was given.

My question is, what is the ULTIMATE gaming controller. Price doesn't matter, I am willing to pay alot. I mean, quality controls, durable, and comfortable. If someone could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

Pfft, the 360 (and original xbox) controllers are total balls.

That dpad is horrible for doing almost anything, especially stuff like fighters, good god the fighters.

Aside from the dpad, which the PS2's is infinitely superior to, what does the 360 controller have that the dualshock doesn't? Nothing.

The PS2 controller is the best controller ever made, which is sad to say for me because it is just an improvement off of something already made prior, in this case the SNES controller. But really, when is anything Sony makes NOT a slight difference off of an already made product?

I'd say that for side scroller and fighters, the PS2 controller is best. It just fits well in your hand, and all the buttons are in reach and comfortable. But for console racing games, the Xbox controller is actually really really good. Those shoulder triggers help with throttle control and it's just really comfortable.

Just get a 360 controller. Ps2 controller is too tiny, hurts my hands when i use it. 360 controller has the nice analog triggers. Great for driving games Not to mention the life span of a ps2 controller is a few years at the most then the springs on the buttons wear out and it becomes a total pain in the ass to use.

and also, you don't have to buy an adaptor for the 360 controller. It uses USB connection anyway. Just the plug is a different shape. There's a simple modification you can do to the controller so that it works on PC

Well yeah, I was looking into one of those adapters that enables you to plug console controllers into your USB port. All of the reviews that I could find (and I found quite a bit) seemed to be good, and it was mentioned here so I will probably go that route.

I am thinking of getting 2 adapters, one for SNES and one for Playstation 2. I just cannot stand the Playstation 2 D-Pad, but I love the way to Playstation 2 controller feels.

Thanks guys smile.gif

I like the old big xbox controller.
The ps2 controller is a little bit too small for me,...it's okay, but the xbox controller is much more comfortable for me.

PS2 controlers all the way... plus when you get pissed, they can survive some serious beating, unlike the xbox ones...

a nice PS2 controller w/ the USB hub...... those are the best,
but now I use the PS3 ones, direct fit, and with a program, works great
