QUOTE (battousaiii @ Today at 10:45 PM) | boost off. like that guy said it trains you to not make mistakes. as soon as you make a mistake against someone good it's game over. |
which makes it not fun.
Especially being able to bump traffic and/or slam opponents, which you can't really do in stuff like iD, so boost off isn't such a big deal there.
But say the race starts, the guy in front of you throws a van, and bam, you hit it. Even if you're much better than him/her, it's over, there's no coming back from that, which isn't a measure of skill anyway.
Boost on, you have to be good until the very end. I prefer boost on alot more for this reason.

yes, i so agree with MaxX
boost on ftw, makes it more fun.
you wouldn't like to be rammed into a truck during boost off ~
If you want to prove that you're fast, theres time attack.
battle is meant to be fun so we play boost on, and do everything we can to screw other people up / avoid being screwed ourselves.

well, Namco didn't just put boost in the game just for the heck of it, those 2 serve a purpose, as well as pros and cons
Boost PROS 1) For a highly skilled player, it keeps them at their toes, knowing that any moment their opponent will pass them, thus giving them the impression to do the necessary defensive manuevers to prevent from being overtaken 2) gives noobs a fighting chance when faced off with a fisher 3) gives players some sort of recovery when the opponent is nasty enough to ram them into the wall or onto traffic 4) provides enjoyment and fun for multiplayer battles
CONS 1) a noob can pwn you if you're not careful enough 2) some players win by luck, not skill
Boost Off
PROS 1) a game where skill determines the better player 2) when in the lead, the player can fully concentrate on his driving, not the player right up behind him 3) puts noobs (especially cocky and arrogant ones) in their place 4) players drive in all seriousness
CONS 1) no or minimal fighting chance when mr. nasty player rams you into walls and traffic 2) a fisher's dream come true 3) ONE traffic mistake and your 100% DONE! - The-chosen-knight
*updated* if you have any comments or additions, feel free to do so
