I'd just like to say, thank you SuperJakko. And thank you to HG-Fansubs also, though that's many moons ago...

After the extended delay after episodes 1 and 2, I almost completely gave up on this series, but thankfully some other people decided to bestow some love and affection on this series, and after watching up through episode 11, I'm back into this series again. Thank you all biggrin.gif

QUOTE (Gansan @ May 30 2008, 09:23 PM)
Let me point out that I have two 400hp + cars... a Z32 Twin Turbo and a race prepped Subaru WRX. I can make much more power on either car, except they are tuned safely for 91 octane fuel. (highest in my area)

Also, how many of you have raced rally and circuit? I was street racing 10 years ago, but moved onto legal racing shortly after. Highway and Canyon racing is nothing to brag about. Who hasn't done it?

Oh and the AE85 is NOT the same car as an AE86, especially in Takumi's case... it is essentially the difference between a Lancer and an EVO.

I do track days on the motorbike..And maybe some race events after I get my hands on a race 600. I never got into street racing...id go watch but thats about it. I still hit the mountains every weekend just to get away. hitting those 25mph turns at around 65+ is awesome but that 1 moron riding or driving over the double yellow will ruin your day..or end it all. But we actually found a road that has every type of turn you could hope for, and NO cars or Rangers/chp or cops whatsoever. But, im getting off topic. grin2.gif

Im excited to see how the story progresses. It seems like they are getting into some good plot stuff. Kind of more of a story than just "GO FAST NOW!"

Thanks again Superjakko!

QUOTE (PanzerAce @ May 30 2008, 05:25 PM)
Except the AE85 and 86 are still the same basic setup, with only minor differences when you get right down to the nitty gritty of it all.

Also, you guys saying racing on highways is easy need to get out more. Try dodging semi's at 120+ once in a while wink2.gif

The AE85 and AE86 have different bhp, suspension, and the AE86 has a LSD. These are not minor differences but major ones. To be able to drift with a AE85 in it's stock form will take a lot of skill. The LSD will give both back wheels equal power. With a slip differential your inside wheel (the wheel inside of the turn) will lose power and/or will gain traction but not spin. Your outside wheel will just continue to spin without traction, which in turn will only slow down the car.

And also for those of you who are saying that highway racing takes no skill. They are talking from 280km/h to 330km/h which translates to 170-205mph. Most of the cars that we are driving on a daily basis will only do about 120-140mph. Traffic flow and direction can change at any moment and even driving at 120mph when their is a bunch of cars around you driving at different speeds can create opening and closing in traffic. If your decisions are wrong then you can easily get boxed in or worse get into a serious accident. I was one of those people that would race on the highway when I lived in Hawaii. I stopped a long time ago when a few of my friends started dying in accidents on the highway.

Nice explanation. It's backwards, though. In an open diff, the inside wheel is unloaded in a turn. It has the least amount of traction and will get almost all the power and spin (burn out). The outside wheel has most of the traction in a turn since the weight of the vehicle is loaded on to it. An open diff takes all the power away from it.

Thanks for the correction. I do usually get it mixed up on the inside/outside wheel on an open diff.

Superjakko, how's 12 coming along? Can't wait to see your finished product. I do hope that someone will be able to pick it up after 12 though.

If someone is willing to translate, I'm willing to do the subbing work for it.

I've finished it but I'm a bit loathed to upload it as once we've all seen and done this one the journey is over (for the forseeable future). I came on here and learned to sub just so that I could watch this series. Unfortunately, no one is translating any further than episode 12. There is an army of would-be subbers ready to jump on but without the transcripts in English it's all over for now. I'll upload episode 12 at the weekend (if I'm home) and then join the queue like the rest of the world.

There's a small glimmer of light on the horizon. This girl that hangs out the comic shop I go to is obsessed with anime and says she "knows enough Japanese to translate episodes". Whatever that means...

Anyway, I'm not holding my breath, but when I go there this weekend I'll give her the raw for 13 and see what she comes back with the following week. If I get the "oh, I didn't have time" or whatever excuse, I'll just drop it altogether.

I'll offer her $40. If she shows up with a legible script I'll pay it myself and see if she wants to continue. If that's the case I'll ask you guys to help out with some of the fees. If I can get some support, we're back in the race!

here's a suggestion,

to those that are in college: why not look for a Japanese club to
help with the translations?

Japanese club: I'm pretty sure there are some Japanese exchange students who'd like
tutoring or help with their English skills. Maybe get two people, let them watch an episode, they translate/compare notes, etc. Maybe pay them $10 ea. per episode.
Who knows maybe they'll do it for free or a meal. In the end you could make 2 new friends which is always a good thing.

I thought about it before... I studied at UPH college in Indonesia. I have a few friend that was a member of Japanese club (they call it anime club here). One of them I know, is translating Da Capo and Da Capo 2...

I'm going to ask him about the subbing, who knows if we're able to pay him, he'll be interested.

Imagine this, he's working on one Da Capo episode in one day (yes, one day), how many episode is translated if we give him WM... BTW, how much WM anime has been released?

something that a person wants to share with the rest ...
if you gonna pay him then it will be a paid animation ...

fansubbing is a passion, subbing is a legitimate job biggrin.gif

and as he is not the animator it would still be subbing even if he got paied.

Great work on the eps you subbed for us Jakko. hopefully we can get a hold of more scripts. worst case someone will have to learn some serious japanese tongue.gif

It just sucks that there isn't ONE person who speaks Japanese AND has enough time to help us out. Hell, if I knew someone that spoke fluently I would make them do it! I'd harass the shit out them on a daily basis until they just broke down. laugh.gif

The person who translates needs to know both languages for it to be a good sub. I work with people from Japan and sometimes it's hard to understand their English. Sometimes they will translate what they are saying literally and sometimes it doesn't make sense. I think Jakko knows what I'm talking about. Try using something like bablefish or google translate on a phrase in Japanese and you'll get the idea of what I'm talking about. It sounds like Yoda is speaking to you.

So, thank you Superjakko for doing all that you have done so far. I'm hoping to find someone to help me with translations for later episodes. So we can all enjoy the series.

That isn't that hard to get around though, you just need a fluent english speaker (ie: English is their first language), to go through it and change babelfish subbing into something coherent, then give it back to the person that initially translated it to double check that the meaning is still correct.
