sori to put you down but you could've posted this question in the Mitsubishi thread. I think there's also a thread for the Evo's somewhere here...

Of course there is a difference between cars. Yes, the driver makes a hella of a difference but pit someone with a R2 with another person of similar skills driving a Z33 on Wangan and see who would win.
And I have seen the question Evo8 vs 9 asked 1937586 times and yet no one has given any specific answer whatsoever. I have expected someone to enlighten me regarding this matter long enough (and nobody did) that I realize the only way to solve this enigma is to test drive both cars myself.... |
an inexperienced player on a z33 vs an experienced battler on an r2, the experienced player will still win.

So basicly the person driving the R2 can only fish less experienced players while he gets raped when facing someone of skill......please its not always the driver, the car DOES matter. |
there is no such thing as 'similar skills'
one driver is better than the other, nuff said.
i've seen my supra being driven by one of the top players, take on one of the other top players on hakone, in an evo8. He still won.

Ok ok, same player driving two different cars on time attack, the driving style is going to be vastly different between say a JZA80 and an FC. Cars do matter to an extent. When you get to the top level of players they dont really matter that much anymore. If the car didn't matter and it was only the driver, wouldnt all the cars handle and accelerate the same way? What we're saying is that each car has different characteristics. Asking which is better, evo 8 or 9 isn't really a good question because one might beat the other on different courses or in different ways, acceleration, handling etc. It really annoys me when someone asks a question about cars and then you get about 10 different people saying it's not the car that matters, its the driver. You're only telling half the story...
