Sorry Admins/Mods. I wanted to add a suggestion, but didn't want to add to another thread and have it buried. I guess I have 2 suggestions then tongue.gif.

1. That there be a garage forum, either by itself, or as a sub forum in Automotive. And have a project log sub forum in "garage".

2. Put this as a sticky so others may contribute with out it getting buried biggrin.gif.

Thanks

I'm assuming that this "garage" forum will be for project car threads. But in that case, there's no real reason to have one. If you have a project car that you're updating progress on, it merely needs its own thread in Automotive. When you update it (or when people post) then it will float to the top on its own. For reference, see DALAZ's 240SX build thread over in the automotive forums on Initial D World. That thread doesn't seem to have much of a problem staying afloat.

As Nomake Wan said, make your own thread and bump every time there's an update for projects. Really no justification to have a separate section for project cars

Hey guys, is there any chance you guys could upgrade the avy size to about 200 KB because look at the quality of my avy. I had to decrease it for it to be able to upload to the forum. Otherwise, it would look like this:

The simple answer is no.

Larger file sizes for sigs and avs have been requested forever but people don't realize the effect it has on load times.
Ok sure, this could be a problem back in the day when I was on 56k, but I'm on broadband cable now, why would this affect me?
Simple, because if the av size limit is higher, not only you, but everyone would have higher filesized avs and sigs, and then what? 200kb per person times what, 20 msgs in 1 thread 200x20 = 4000kb or 4mb. Times this by however many threads gets viewed per day and instead of running a small forum for $5 a day, you're running a file server for $50 a day.

So while a seemingly small change from 90kb to 200kb might not be much for one person, when it applies to everyone, it is a significant change.

What he said.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I just wanted to try out something different for an avy. So much for video avys. Thanks, anyways. I guess I'll just go back to doing picture avys.

As I said on IDW, there's nothing against video avatars. Just keep the filesize under the limit. wink2.gif Check my avatar over on IDW.
