RPM 14: Against C4 team

Steve already went back home, claiming that he had some kind of boost problem… he needs to find a boost controller and installed it, along with turbo timer. Sora promised that he will accompany him to find one which can be used for his car. Now he cruises alone at Tatsumi. He clicks 280 KM/H when something came up behind his car.
“Hm? An R34…” Sora said, “It’s fast”

There is an R34 GT-R behind him, catching up to him quickly. When the car finally came close to him, he is very surprised. A Nismo R-tune with blue in color.
“Hm… so rare to find an R-tune these days” Sora thought

Suddenly the driver of the R-tune flashes the headlight, looking for a race. Sora shrugs and shifts down, spitting fire from his Weldina exhaust. The driver of the R-tune behind him takes this as a yes and follows him closely.
“Let’s see how that R-tune does on Wangan line” Sora smirks

He is very interested on that blue R34 as well. He wants to meet the driver since not many people drive that kind of cars anymore.
“Is that the one, Tomo-kun?” a girl beside the driver of that R-tune asked

“Akiyama says that’s him” the guy nods, “Let’s see if he’s as good as people says”

The R-tune followed closely. The two cars easily clicked 300 KM/H and still rising.
“That car sure is as fast as it looks” Sora nods, “Maybe I’ll stop at Daikoku-Futo… perhaps the driver is people with the same level as Akiyama”

The two cars will reach Daikoku-Futo shortly and Sora keeps on increasing his pace. The blue R-tune still follows him closely on his tail, though. When the coast is clear, the blue R-tune slingshot to the side of Sora’s Z-tune.
“This Z-tune isn’t what it seems” the driver of the R-tune said, “It has great mysterious quality surrounding it”

“…”

Sora steps on the throttle fully and the two cars jet through Wangan Line, reaching 350 KM/H with nothing in front of them, but clear zone of stretching runaway for their cars.
“He is indeed the Wangan Midnight Sky King… I wonder what was he like?” the guy said, “Akiyama only says that when I eventually meets him face to face, I’ll be totally surprised and freaked”

“… Whoops… Daikoku-Futo is up ahead” Sora said as he turns the signal, indicating that he will exited the highway to the junction

The blue R-tune follows him to the junction.
Sora parks his car at one of the empty spot, with the blue R-tune parks beside his car. When they stepped out of each others cars, the two of them are completely surprised. Why? The driver of that R-tune looks as old as he is with spiky hair, while his girlfriend has long orange colored hairs. The driver of the R-tune on the other hand, finds the word of Akiyama is correct- he is as young as he does.
“…”

Sora is speechless. For some reason looking at the driver of that R-tune reminds him of Akiyama very much. No, not the face, but something more of a skill this guy has.
“You must be Ninomiya Sora…” he said, “I heard a lot of things about you from my friend, Akiyama Daiki”

Well, at least Sora is right on one thing- he knows Akiyama Daiki.
“Yes… I'm Ninomiya Sora” he said

“We also heard that you are the new Sky King in Wangan” the girl said to him

“Uh… yeah, more or less” he said

“My name is Kitsumoro Tomogashi, or Tomo in short” he introduces himself, “And this is my girlfriend, Nadeshiko Kasumi”

“How do you do?” she nods

“You are a friend of Akiyama-san?” Sora asked

“Yes I am… we go long way back” he nods, “Anyways, that Z-tune of yours…”

“Yes, she is Aoi… the last number of Z-tune” Sora nods

When they saw his Z-tune, an angel with blue dress walks toward his car, looking at every detail on that R-tune… looks like she is very piqued as well. Sora is confused why did Aoi in interested on the R-tune.
“Mine is also Z-tune… well, not from Nismo, but my mechanic and me build it by ourselves, according to Nismo’s data of Z-tune” Tomo replied, “The spec is also the same, except few modifications on the engine and exteriors”

Z-tune?! No wonder Aoi is very interested to take a look at it. Sora never saw this kind of Z-tune. Z-tune is indeed had a form of R-tune in development stage on Nurburgring and he knows it, but for someone to fabricate one, just like the prototype, that’s quite a feat to do.
“You said that you build this one, just like the original spec, right?” Sora asked, “Where you guys did have the data?”

“Let’s just say that’s a factory secret between my mechanic and me” he grins

“I see” Sora grins also, “Well it’s been fun to talk with you, Kitsumoro-san, but I have to jet right now… the bed in my house is calling me”

“Hm… you’re an amusing fellow indeed” he said, “And please, just call me Tomo”

“Okay, then… see you next time, Tomo-san” Sora gets into his car and drives off

When he’s left, Tomo and Kasumi continued to talk about his Z-tune.
“Just like Akiyama said… it’s alive and you saw what I just saw, right?” Tomo asked

“I am” Kasumi replied, “This is my first time to see these kinds of thing myself”

“Moreover, did you see what’s behind him when he steps out of his car? That black and grotesque knight, riding a bone dragon that overshadowed him for a moment” Tomo continued

“Even though he looks like a mere street racer, he’s definitely has something more than what Akiyama and we knows” Kasumi replied, “Do you really want to race him, Tomo?”

“Only if he’s interested” Tomo nods

After the school is done, as Sora already promised, he will look for turbo timer and boost controller with Steve. At Kojiro’s place, they did have anything that could fit to 911 (911 is a Germany car, therefore it’s a pain in the ass to look for something that could be used for it, so most of Japanese part becomes useless). Kojiro ended up giving him Blitz turbo timer and boost controller. Now it’s time to go and get a right setting for these two tiny little things, so they could work in conjunction with his Bosch E.C.U.
“Okay, Sora… You’ll drive as I set the E.C.U” Steve said

“What? I can't drive a Porsche!”

“What do you mean you can't?!” Steve said in Brit accent, “It just like other car, or maybe your car in fact”

“It doesn’t mean that I can't drive it, but I won't drive it” Sora shrugs

“Damn… this is an obstacle to my progress” Steve wheezed, “Can you tune an E.C.U?”

“No”

“Great… this is bad” Steve slaps his forehead, “Just drive it, it’s going to be okay… Aoi won't get mad”

“How do you know Aoi won't get mad?” Sora asked again

“Let’s just do it, come on! I don’t have all day” Steve yanks his right hand, “Let’s go!”

Sora agreed. He sits on the driver seat and tries to ignite the engine.
“Huh? I can't ignite the engine” Sora said

“Push the red button” Steve opens his laptop, “Let’s go”

Sora pushes the red button and the engine comes to life. He starts to drive slowly, and then eventually stalls the engine.
“You got to be shitting me” Steve groans, “Give it more throttle”

“I know, I know!” Sora ignites the engine once again

Claire and Aya approaches them… looks like they want to come along in one car. They even ask Kojiro to give them a day off, so they could come with them to see how the tuning goes.
“Want us to come along?” Claire asked

“Nah, we can do this by ourselves” Steve answered, “If there is another weight added to my car, the data would be inaccurate”

“What?” Claire raised one of her eyebrows, “I'm slim… I'm only 48 kilos”

“And I'm 49…” Aya added

“I'm 75 and Sora is… uh, 70?” Steve asked

“Yeah”

“That makes 145, and with you guys it would be 242 kilos, so… uh, no” Steve grins

“I guess that is alright, Steve” Sora said, “But it’s your call… this is your car after all”

“Hey, we need to shave any weight we can” Steve added, “Otherwise, the tuning will be compromised”

“Okay… whatever you say” Sora nods, “Oh…”

Sora looks at the two girls. They lowered their beautiful head, and the two of them looks a bit upset and mad… girls didn’t like it when you told them old, and or fat. Anyways, Steve realized what he just said, and he started to look panic.
“Argh!” he said hysterically, “Go, go, go!”

Sora knows what will happen to both of them if they stayed a little longer there. He then quickly floors the throttle flat, leaving the two girls alone at the garage. The two girls leave to their house early, since Kojiro accidentally hears what Steve just said to them, and he looks scared as well- he didn’t even dare to look at those girls faces… girls are indeed scary when they are upset. They immediately went home with rage and aura of angers, burning around them.

Few minutes later, at Aya’s house, the two girls are still annoyed by what Steve just said. They really want to go with them, so they know the tuning goes. The two of them put up a poster, with Sora and Steve’s picture on a piece of cardboard… what are they doing?
“Ready?” Aya asked

“I'm ready” Claire nods

“And fire!” Aya starts to fire away

DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR!

”Stupid Steve!” Claire said

“What was that all about anyway, not to let us come with them” Aya continued, “It’s not like we are a dumbbell with over 100 kilos, geez!”

DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR! DOR!

Do you guys know what’re they doing with Sora and Steve’s picture? They shot at them with Aya’s air soft guns. Aya is using MK23, while Claire prefers Glock 18… looks like they are really upset.
“Reload!” Aya said

The two of them immediately changes the clip and began shooting at it again.
Well, let’s leave those two frustrated girls alone, won't we?

Well, back to Steve and Sora, now they are headed to New Belt Line area. The tuning goes very well and Steve couldn’t be more satisfied.
“Okay… let’s stop at Tatsumi junction” Steve nods

“Right away… this thing is lame” Sora grins

“Screw you” Steve replied, “The tuning isn’t done yet”

The two of them stopped at Tatsumi junction. Sora went to get something to drink, and Steve moves over to the driver’s seat. There is a white Nissan GT-R parked just across his car. It has a large wide body kit and Volk racing rims… maybe at a glance, it’s just a normal Nissan GT-R, but it’s not. Steve can feel the intimidation, coming out of that white car.
So turns off the engine and he stepped out of the car also.
“Sora, look… Nissan GT-R” Steve said, “Wide body too”

“Hm? Nah, I don’t have any interest on Nissan GT-R” Sora shrugs, “To be honest, I hate it…”

“You hate it because Sakura drives one, right?” Steve asked

Then it comes again… the taboo name Steve said accidentally, completely turns on his trauma switch.
“Sa… ku… ra…” Sora mutters, “I’m just nobody... nobody like me”

“He, hey… sorry that I said the word” Steve looks panic, “I didn’t mean it”

“911 GT2… You must be Red Lizard” said a man from behind them

Then there is someone approaches them. Just like Aya and Claire, a westerner with Asian looks. Looks like he’s on his early 20s, 186 cm tall, striking blonde hair, handsome Japanese looks… Steve forgets his friend and focused on the man, since he thought that this man would serve as a perfect test partner.
“Yes I am… who might you be?” Steve asked

“My name is Yamazaki Raymond” he introduces himself, “I was known as the Lightning Angel around here”

“Oh… I see” Steve nods, “My name is Steve Blackburn… listen, uh Yamazaki-san… my friend here is a bit out of this world for a moment, why don’t you and I go for a little test run?”

“By the looks of it, you just finished tuning your car” Raymond said, “Alright, I’ll play with you for awhile…”

“Um, but this is not a battle. I just want to fare my car with yours, since your car is a cool looking and fast one” Steve nods again, “What do you say?”

“Fine by me…” he said as he stepped into his car, “Don’t hold anything back”

“Sure… same goes for you” Steve replied

Two hours later, Steve already done with the test run. He now head back to Kojiro’s place and went to get some new Brembo high performance brake pads. Kojiro who knew that his tuning is already done, approaches him to ask how it goes.
“So… is it good?” Kojiro asked

“Yeah… it’s great” Steve nods, “I even get to know someone and ask him to play with me. His name is Yamazaki Raymond and he is known as Lightning Angel… ever heard of him”

“Yeah, more or less… he’s a famous street racer from back on 2004” Kojiro explained, “You lost?”

“No… I didn’t ask him to have a battle with me. I just want to fare my car against his, because his car looks fast and already tuned for maximum performance… just as a measurement” Steve replied, “And what I thought about his GT-R is correct; it’s fast and it handles well”

“And?” Kojiro continued to ask

“Sora is right about Nissan GT-R… even though they are nimble and balanced, they are slow at reaching top speeds” Steve said, “But nevertheless, it’s fun to have a run with new people… and I got to know more about street racers here”

“Speaking of Sora… where is he?” Kojiro looks around

“I think he’s still at the… oh shit, I completely forget about him!” his jaw dropped, “Man, that dude is going to kill me tomorrow!”

“There is no way that you can take your car, now the brake pads are being replaced… I’ll go and pick him up” Kojiro grabs his car key

“Uh, tell him that I'm really sorry” Steve bows

“You and I both know that won't be enough, right?” Kojiro grins

“Um, yeah… it won't” Steve laughs

Tomorrow, at lunch time, Sora is sitting down by himself at the cafeteria table. He and Steve hasn’t spoken to each other after what happened yesterday… the damn guy forgets about him and left him at Tatsumi junction. Fortunately for Sora, he is picked up by Kojiro. Claire and Aya also mad at Steve because what he told them yesterday about being fat and heavy is bad for tuning his car… well, looks like he has a lot of enemies right now.
“Steve!” Claire said

“AAAAH?!” Steve gasped, “No, please forgive me!”

Claire and Aya showed up- looks like they want to give Steve a lesson or two, so he wouldn’t dare to mess with two scary cats. The two of them approaches him and he started to bow down to them. Sora who is already finished eating, went by and if possible, intends to give more misery for his friend.
“P, please, please… don’t kill me” Steve bows to them, “You can drive my GT2 if you like”

“Really?” Claire asked

“Um, no… I'm just kidding” Steve grins

Claire then grabs him by the collar and starts to shake it off; making him feels queasy and sick. Sora is passing by, just to give him a satisfied grin and walks away.
“Hey, Sora… please help me, man” Steve said as he is shaken by Claire

“Don’t you dare” Aya looks at him a bit annoyed

“Why would I help you? You left me alone to die at Tatsumi junction” Sora explained, “It’s good enough for you that I don’t help these two girls to kill you… besides, you’re the one who said that we don’t need unnecessary weights, even though I told you to take them along… so, you’re on your own… bye”

Sora laughs loudly and leaves his friend to die. Claire and Aya starts join forces and shakes his collar more violently. Steve passed out, and the match bells ring, announcing that Steve is already knocked out.
“Uh…” Steve said as he passed out

“Steve!” said all of his teammates

“The winner is Aya and Claire” said every girl on cafeteria

Steve is taken to infirmary by Tarou. His face is pale, his hair looks messy, and he still holds his car key, even to death. Anyways, he would be alright in few more hours… let’s just leave him be, and let him rot to dead. Back to the class, Sora is tidying his books for the next lesson. When Yue-sensei enters the class, a loud dry sound is heard from outside the school perimeter… there are few cars, racing in high speeds around the neighborhood. Keith recognizes one of them and it’s yellow Chevrolet Camaro concept that belongs to C4 team.
“Bumblebee” Hikaru said, “What is that doing here?”

“Beats me…” Keith replied, “Looks like they are racing someone from local team around here”

“Oh yeah… when we will challenge them?” Sora asked

“Not sure…” Tarou said, “But if we’re challenging them, can you please leave the action to us? I mean that we don’t get much attention around here, since you became popular all of a sudden, and went to get all hot actions on your own”

“Agreed” Souya added, “So, can you leave it to us?”

“Sure… to tell you the truth, I'm not very fond of C1 myself… in fact, I hate it. Well, probably that idiot Steve didn’t”

“Okay… then it’s decided. Me, Hikaru, Keith, and Souya will take care of C4 team” Tarou nods

“When will we challenge them?”

“Soon enough” Souya nods, “We will all go out against them”

“But uh… what if they only wanted to race me or Steve? What will you do?”

“We’ll figure something out… in High School Street Racer; there are ten people, not only two dynamic duos” Hikaru explained

“Okay, guys… do you want me to give you guys run at the soccer field? The class is already began, and the five of you still talks about cars, cars, and more cars” Yue-sensei sounded mad

“Um… no, ma’am” said all of them

Few hours later, the school is already done. Steve who is still passed out at the infirmary comes around and looks surprised that he passes one whole day of school.
“What the?” Steve said, “The school is already done! What did I missed?”

Steve runs out of the infirmary and went to the classroom to get all of his belongings. He then runs back outside and meet up with all of his friends.
“Hey, wait for me” Steve said

When Steve and the others already gathered, they walked out together and intended to go to Kojiro’s garage, in hope they could give their car a final check before they challenged the C4 team. But things said otherwise… the cars from that afternoon came back, lined up in front of them and blocks their way with their big bulky metal body.
“C4 team” Tarou said

“What honor do we owe you guys?” Hikaru asked

“HSSR, we challenged you for a run tonight, at C1 area” said the man on Camaro, “Please show up and battle us”

“Alright… see you guys tonight, then” Souya nods

“Sky King, Red Lizard… We will crush you with everything we got” said the man from GTO

“Sorry, but we wouldn’t participate in tonight’s battle” Sora shrugs

“What? Why?” Steve asked

“Me and Steve thinks that all of our teammates are very formidable street racers… so we would like to let them battle with you” Sora said, “No offense, but they needed some action… thank God you guys challenged us”

“Hm… well said. We’ll see you tonight at Shiodome, then” the man on Challenger nodded, “Men, let’s take our leave”

All of them marched and leave the guys alone to give a thought about what they just said.
“Wow… does the boxy and heavy muscle cars can stand a chance against imports and exotic cars to do quick rip around the corners?” Steve asked

“Beats me” Hikaru replied

“I don’t think so” Keith said, “Nevertheless, let’s get our car ready for tonight”

All of them agreed and went to Kojiro’s place for final check ups, before they have a battle tonight. Sora and Steve, who is not participating, went to do their own business. Sora went straight ahead to Akiyama’s while Steve… eats at Tomoyama’s, which he thinks is safe right now… let’s hope he’s right.
“Ah, manager… two bowls of ramen and ice green tea, please” Steve said as he looks around the restaurant

No sight of Aya or Claire… that’s a relief. Few minutes later, the order came up and he started to eat… this is when things starts to get worse- Claire shows up with her mechanic get ups.
“Phew… hm?” Steve recognizes the girl who just walked into the place, “ARGH! I have to finish this ASAP”

“Manager, can I get one glass of orange juice? I'm very thirsty” she said

“Coming right up” the manager gives her a fresh orange juice, “Hikaru and the others are working very hard, yeah?”

“They said they would be battling against C4 team at C1 area” she explained, “They need to get their car checked, so everything could go smoothly”

Steve panicked and slurps the ramen too fast, that he almost chocked and died. Lucky Claire knows what he’s doing and helps him to swallow the food… phew. If she’s late just by a bit, he would died and leave nothing but his name… and his car.
“What the hell are you doing, idiot?” Claire asked, “Be careful next time”

“Uh… to prevent myself from getting killed, I have to eat fast” Steve said, “Thanks, Claire”

“You’re welcome…” Claire said as she drinks her orange juice

“By the way, sorry if I'm being rude… I never get to see you hang around with your boyfriend” Steve said as he sips the green tea, “Where is he?”

“Oh… I, ah… he’s a busy guy with a lot of things to do” Claire explained

“Is that so? Well, I guess that can't be helped, yah? Oh, yeah… do you really want to drive my GT2?”

“No, I got my own car right now… and it’s being tuned with parts from Nismo” she nodded happily

“Ah… great. I can't wait to battle with you guys once again” Steve replied, “I think I’d betted get over Jessie and went to scoop out some girls”

Steve stands up, pays the food and drink and went off.
“Gotta go” he runs like a wind

“Scoop out for girls?” Claire wondered, “Oh no… I should’ve taken his offer!”

Back to the guys outside, they are already done with the inspection. Steve went to help as well, since he’s caught on the spot. He couldn’t abandon his friends in need, right? Souya’s car is already finished. Now he has more power and acceleration than before- his rotary monster is ready to go.
“This car now has 500 on the wheels, Sou” Kojiro said, “With the replacement of the twin turbo, piping, intercooler, E.C.U remaps, brake upgrades, injectors, exhaust, radiators… you are great to go”

“Great” Souya nods

Steve and Keith are working to check everything on the white E92. Steve is very piqued to see what kind of things BMW Motorsports put in this car… none of them are available on the market yet or never will be. This car is a base tuning for ALMS car after all.
“Are you impressed?” Keith asked

“Why would I?” Steve asked back, “I’ve got German car number 1”

“Ha, number one?” Keith smirks

“Yes, numero uno” Steve grins

“Let’s have a battle to prove it sometime… after I became the new Grip King, that is” Keith said

“Sure… I’ll be waiting” Steve nods

“Steve, where is Sora, by the way?” Yamada asked

“He’s uh… learning to drive at Akiyama racing school” Steve said, “He said that it would help him drive his car better, not to mention it would help him greatly at junior league”

“It’s great that he knows what he will do for his future” Iwami nods

Kamiya, Aya, and Claire on the other hand, are working with her newly 380RS. Various Nismo parts are putted into the car, in hope it will cope up with GT2 on C1 for next battle they will had.
“Alright, it’s finished, Kamiya-san” Aya said

“Good work, Aya-chan” Kamiya nodded, “This should be enough for Claire to drive”

“Is this enough?” Claire asked

“Yes… as for now” Kamiya said, “You need to learn to take control of this car on C1 for few months. When you are ready, I will tune it up so you can catch up with Sora and Steve”

“What about me, ma’am?” Aya asked

“You will have to detune your car also… 600 is way too much for C1, especially when your car is RWD” Kamiya explained

“I see… what should I do to detune it? Please give me your guidance” she nodded

At 7 P.M., Sora is already finished with the racing lesson at Akiyama’s. He is now taking a break, with all of his colleagues who also learn there, under Daiki’s teaching. Everyone now see Sora differently, as he now holds the title of Sky King.
“So tell me, Ninomiya… how would you like to have a run with us, some other time?” one of the student asked

He is Sato Masaru, and he drives BCNR33 Nissan Skyline GTR V-spec II LM. He looks older than Sora did and he seems very calm and cool.
“Sure, Sato-san…” Sora nodded

“How are things going with Nismo junior team?” the other one asked

He is also a student here, and his name is Nakamura Sadao and he drives Nissan 180SX type X, with Silvia front end. Um no, even though he has the same name as Yayoi (Satoshi’s wife), the two of them is not related.
“It went well… I don’t know when will the next race began, so I need to prepare every time” Sora nodded

Since the two of them are major Nismo fans, they treated him kindly. Well, not of them did, though, since some of them hate what he’s doing and envies him. Take this one girl as an example… her name is Minagami Michiko and she drives a DC5 Honda Integra type-R. Being a major Honda fan, she hates him because Honda loses after got passed by him on the first half of the race. Another one of Honda fans is Abe Hideki and he drives a 1992 Honda NSX-R.
“Next time you won't get so lucky, Ninomiya” said Michiko

“Only time will tell who is skilled and talented and who is not” Hideki added

“Hey, leave the guy alone, will ya?” another girl tells her off

She is Hayashi Akane, who drives a Mitsubishi Mirage Asti RX-R complete with 4G63 engine swap.
“Don’t envy someone else, just because your team is lost. You guys should be ashamed of yourself” another girl said to them

And she is Fujiwara Chieko, who drives SE3P Mazda RX-8 type S Mazdaspeed 2. She and Akane are the kindest girls Sora ever met.
“Don’t listen on what they say… they are just upset because you are better than they are” said a man while he smiled at Sora

“What was that, Kimura?” Michiko asked

“Kimura said that you and Hideki only talks big” another man added

“Yeah, so just leave the newbie alone and pick someone on your size” his friend continued

And they are the last of Sora’s colleagues. The first one is Kimura Satoshi, who drives Subaru Aclyone SVX. The second one is Watanabe Akio, who drives Toyota Mark II tourer V, while the last one is Asakura Takao, who drives 996 RUF RGT. They are called the happy trio by Daiki, because their tendencies to live up the class, when it starts to get tiring.
“Stop the small talk, all of you” Naoko said, “Go back home already and don’t forget to review what all of you just learned back home, alright? Dismissed”

All of them walked to the parking area and starts to get onboard their car.
“Ninomiya, will you battle the C4 tonight?” Sato asked

“Nope, but my other teammates will” Sora nods

“Ah, that’s a shame… we would love to see you battle them” Nakamura added, “Well, time to go… see you on Friday, Ninomiya”

“Yes, see you around” Sora nodded

Sora parked way ahead from the school, so he needs to walk a bit farther than the rest of them. When he reached his car, someone is already waiting there, sitting on the carbon bonnet of the blue car… it’s Aya.
“You’re done?” she asked

“Just now, yeah… what’s up?”

“Everyone is waiting… The race will start any minute now” Aya smiled

“Did they? I think they just wanted to show off the performance of their cars” Sora shrugs, “Anyways, thanks for telling me”

“Can I hitch a ride to the race meet? My car is being detuned by Kamiya-san, so I left it at Kojiro’s place” she asked

“Sure… you can even drive it, if you can” Sora threw off the car key to her

“Wow, thanks… I won't dent it or scratch it” Aya nodded with enthusiast

Aya sits at the driver seat slowly. She adjusts the driver seat then wears the harnesses carefully. After that she puts the key into the ignition and ready to turn it. Sora on wears the harnesses as he carefully pays attention on what his friend is doing.
“Please… let me drive you tonight” she whispered

“…”

The moment she turns on the key, the engine comes to life and roars through the parking area, telling her that she’s ready to drive it. Aya is thrilled and excited more, but Sora on the other hand is surprised… how can she do that? Aoi didn’t usually like it when someone is trying to driver her. All of his friend tried once before, but no one prevail to even ignite the engine.
“What did you just do?”

“Nothing” she replied happily, “Shall we?”

“Yeah… on to Shiodome it is”

Because of the traffic, Sora and Aya showed up half an hour after the race began. Claire and Steve already await their arrival, and since Sora didn’t show up at 8 P.M., the race starts without him.
“Sorry we’re late” Aya said

“Where were the two of you?” Claire asked, “The race is already begin!”

“How is the situation so far?” Sora asked

“The race is sprint race from junction to junction, starting with Tarou at Hamazaki-Bashi” Steve said, “So far, things are looking great with Tarou doing tie with Felipe, and Hikaru getting slight advantage of one minute gap with Kurt”

“Tarou is great with his Soarer, but Hikaru is even greater with slight time advantage” Claire added

Tarou and Felipe Norton who drives Pontiac GTO will start from Hamazaki-Bashi junction. The two of them must outrun each other to reach Hikaru and Kurt Welson who drives a Dodge Challenger, at Tanimachi junction. Tarou and Kurt will continue to reach Souya and Nicholas Thompson at who drives Chevrolet Camaro concept at Takebayashi junction.
Then when Souya and Nicholas reached Edobashi junction, Keith and Justin Sanders who drives Saleen Mustang will continue to sprint towards Shiodome junction, where Steve and Sora stands right now, to mark the finish of the race.

The race is already gone halfway from Takebayashi junction, with Souya racing against Nicholas and his Camaro concept.
“Come on, rotary boy, show me what you got” Nicholas said

Souya is struggling to handle his newly tuned RX7. Even though Kojiro’s mechanic already gave him the best settings for handling the car, Souya is still adapting himself with his car.
The race is live feed by the street racers around the C1 via mobile phones to replace walkie-talkie. It was intended to give out the most reliable info on both of the racers.
“The RX7 is struggling to follow Camaro!” said one of the street racers via phone, “They will reach Kandabashi-junction soon enough!”

Hearing that Steve and Sora are worried about the outcome of the race. The two of them knows that Souya has just been tuning his RX7, so there is no time to adapt with the new power and handling… let’s just hope nothing will happen to him.
“Come on, seven! I'm counting on you!” Souya grits his teeth and increase his pace

Because of doubt on his car’s behavior, Souya’s pace is disturbed. He can't risk getting hurt or hit the traffic cars, since he is still struggling to handle the car.
“You are thinking way too much about your surroundings” Nicholas said to him, “Come on, boy… you want to be defeated? Your teammates will surely disappointed at you”

“Shut up!” Souya said

His concentration is broke. He brakes hard because he’s almost hitting a traffic car in front of him. Nicholas took this chance and gains the lead, gradually leaving the RX7 behind.
“Damn it! Is this the only thing I'm capable of?!” Souya said, “I can't give up now! My friends are waiting for me!”

He shifted down and tried to catch up. He would need to reach Keith in time; otherwise it will be a defeat for them. Nicholas is already reaching the last checkpoint, Edobashi junction. The moment Nicholas reached the place; Justin launches his car perfectly, leaving Keith to dust.
“Come on, Sou” Keith said as he grips his steering wheel hard

Souya then comes to the junction, and Keith launches the car to catch up with Justin and his Saleen Mustang.
“This car had a supercharger, man! Forget it, I'm winning already” Justin said, a bit cocky

Keith is increasing his pace; gradually, he will close the gap and maybe even passing him and regain the lead. Justin who is already in front calls his friend Kurt, to tell him that the team is already victorious… how cocky and overconfident of him to do that.
“Stop being cocky, Justin!” Kurt said from his mobile phone

“Don’t worry, man… we’re already winning” Justin replied

“I don’t think so” Keith said from behind him

Justin is very surprised and increasing his pace suddenly. He fools around too much, and accidentally he decreases his pace from that call he just made. Keith on the other hand feels lucky and happy at the same time, that cocky street racers like him are still around and haven’t gone extinct.
“Should I wait for you, so we can do this battle fairly?” Keith said

“Let’s go!” he said

Keith increased his pace and follows the Mustang carefully. Justin drives his car rough, and if all of you remembers, Keith already faces a racer like this before… yes, that racer is none other than his ex-teammate; Rei. Keith saw a chance on his left, so he shifted down and increase his pace in attempt to pass him.
“Oh no, you don’t!” Justin said as he hits Keith’s car with his left side

“Damn!”

Keith is thrown off balance for a bit, so he shifted down and brakes to regain his balance. The right side of his car is wrecked and his door can't be opened. What was that all about?
“This crazy guy surely will do anything to win, even if it is denting his own car” Keith thought, “I wonder if Rei will ever do something like this? Nevertheless, I must pass this guy in order to advance and win”

Keith had something else in his mind. He will try that attempt one more time, but this time he will do something else; he won't let his car be wrecked further. Justin gives him another shot. This time he opens a space on his right. Keith grins and shifted down, lining his car beside his once again.
“Hahaha! You just don’t know when to give up do, you?” he said as he sways his car, tried to hit Keith one more time

Keith grins. He shifted down and floors the throttle, letting Justin grinds the right side of his car. What he does is totally freaking Justin out, let alone completely ruined his car. Keith on the other hand advances forward, gradually leaving him behind.
Few minutes later, Keith arrived at Shiodome junction, marking the victory of the team. All of them are very excited, because this winning is the third winning after Sora defeat Moriyama from Speedster and Bernard from Three Kings. Keith is totally qualified to replace Grip King; Jonathan Burton. HSSR has reached one step closer to their pinnacle of glory.

The team has already gathered and they will hold a meeting, to plan out the next chapter for their saga.
“So, what’s next?” Clark asked

“I need to improve myself to be better” Souya said, “I can't risk repeating something like this”

“Okay… so I guess we should lay low for a moment?” Steve asked

“Not exactly…” Hikaru said, “Do you remember when we are defeated by Nissan scramble team at Nikko? It bothers me very much”

“Yeah… it bothers me as well, what do you say if this Friday we go there and get a re-match or something?” Keith asked

“Sure… but if it’s drifting, I won't participate in it” Sora lifts his hand

“Me too” Steve added

“Well, I guess that’s settled” Yamada nods, “We will go this Friday to Nikko”

After the meeting is done, Steve and Sora needs to drive Aya and Claire back to Aya’s house. Few minutes later, they arrived to her place.
Her house is quite big for two people. The garage can store up to 4 cars, but right now it’s empty because Claire’s car and Aya’s car are stored at Kojiro’s place for tuning reason.
“Okay, here we are” Claire said, “Want to come in for a cup of coffee?”

“Hey, Sora… Claire offers us for a cup of coffee” Steve grins wide, “What do you say? I mean… hehehe”

“I don’t know…” Sora shrugs, “And what’s with that suspicious laugh”

“Uh, nothing… I think I'm just being funny” Steve replied

“Being funny or being horny?”

“No… why would I?” he ask in panic

“Come on in, I’ll show you around my house” Aya nods, “Park inside the garage and please wait while me and Claire makes a coffee”

Sora and Steve parks their car and gets off. As they walked through the garden, they are treated with aromatherapy of the sweet and fragrant scents of flower, not to mention beautiful view of this mini garden she had on her house.
“Ah… purple lotus” Sora said, “I love the scent of it… makes me remember of something”

“There is a lot of flowers here… not to mention some of the vegetable and fruit plants over there” Steve nodded, “She even had a mini fish pond, complete with mini waterfall here”

“Yeah… this place is way different than mine” Sora looks around, “So neat, so tidy, and so full of women’s touch”

“Or mine” Steve continued

“Surprised? I like flowers and I love to take care of them” Claire said

“Oh… I thought you girls pay a gardener to do this” Steve scratches his head, “I thought that you guys are just being laz… ah, nothing”

“Claire takes care of the flowers, while I'm taking care of the vegetable and fruit plants” Aya added, “Here, please sit down over here”

Sora and Steve put off their shoes and sits on the veranda of the house. They sip the coffee given by Aya and Claire as they smell the scent of the flowers.
“It’s nice…” Steve said

“It is” Sora added as he sips the coffee, “You know, girls like you two are rare these days”

“What do you mean?” Aya sips her coffee

“Yeah, not many girls like to do gardening and take care of plants and stuffs” Sora explained, “I must say that girls like you had faces of idols, but in fact, you girls are humble and down earthed”

“I see” Aya nodded, “It’s nice to hear that from a guy like you”

“Hey, I know a thing or two about girls” Sora said, “Maybe even Sakura didn’t like to do gardening”

“Oh!” Steve said

He then remembered what he just said… the taboo name he accidentally said, turned on his trauma switch.
“Sa… ku… ra…” Sora muttered

“Hey, snap out of it” Aya shakes his shoulders, “Be a man and move on to another girl, will ya?”

“Akh… thanks for helping me overcome the situation” Sora scratches his head, “This is very embarrassing. I guess it’s time to go back, I still had something to do before I go back home”

“Ah, yes… thanks for the coffee” Steve nodded, “I remembered that it’s a bad idea to hang around at girls place at this late. Besides, you girls already had a boyfriend, right? I mean it will be a catastrophe for us if they see us around you”

“Uh, so we’d better take our leave now” Sora nodded, “See you later”

“Wait!” Claire said, “We… I mean I… got a confession to make to you guys… I’m lying about having a boyfriend with me”

Aya turns silent as she stares at her friend. The situation here is very awkward, that no one says a thing, until Steve jokes about this serious situation.
“Ah, wait… you just make me remembered that I’m already with someone” Steve said

“What? Are you serious? Didn’t you just get dumped by Jessie?” Sora aksed

“Ah, wait… let me think again…! As a matter of fact, I don’t have one!” Steve said, “I'm just joking… hahahaha”

No one is laughing beside him… what a dumbass.
“Don’t tell me that you girls just got dumped” Steve rubs his chin, “And this is some kind of self defense mechanism”

“Haah… stop embarrassing yourself further” Sora slaps his own forehead

“Come on, it’s a joke… it’s funny” Steve laughs, “I like to joke nowadays…”

“It’s not… why did you lie?” Sora asked Claire, “What about Aya?”

“I'm already with someone” Aya nodded, “She didn’t, so she thought that it’s wide to lie as well, so people wouldn’t mess around with us”

“Uh… so it’s useless for me to freak around at school yesterday” Steve wheezed, “So tell me… why haven’t you got someone as your boyfriend, while Aya already did? Uh, don’t tell me you ate them”

“No! Why would I?!” Claire said

“I'm just kidding, relax” Steve grins, “But uh, can we go now? Unless you want to say something else…”

“Ugh, I'm so stupid to talk about this with you!” Claire said, “Get out, both of you”

“What? You’re out of your mind” Steve said, “Why?”

“Because apparently, we’re going out of here” Sora said, “Thanks for the coffee, Aya…”

“Anytime” Aya smiled, “Be careful on your way, boys”

“Okay, see you girls later at school” Steve nodded

He immediately runs off to his GT2 and drives it like crazy out of Aya’s house. Sora shrugs as he bows to both of them before he leaves the house.
“Ah, I feel so stupid to reveal that” Claire frowns

“Hm… boys will always be boys” Aya shrugs, “Lucky I don’t blew my cover”

“Ah, I’ll never want to talk to him again” Claire grabs the cup and enters the house madly

I never expect Sora to beat Seiji, Daiki's prime rival on the Wangan. And how you made Daiki say stuff which is quite true and serious really hits on his personality - on the spot! Nice, man!!

Awesome way on how the application process went. It's kind of weird though for Sora to immediately choose the S class program without hesitation. Well, the character is a kid, so who'd blame him...

This is going great. I'll probably be seeing a lot of Daiki on the next RPM chapters... maybe if Sora shows up with the one he loves right infront of Daiki, he might go on a slight relapse and share something with him, involving the late Chloe and Silverblood as well...

I'm looking forward to the next one!!

P.S. Maybe sometime in the next half of the story of yours, I might want you to add my other protagonist in my entire series: Tomogashi Kitsumoro. What's so special about him... let's say He and Sora would be meeting because of one thing: their GT-Rs. Tomo drives a Z tune GT-R34 too, by the way. Only difference is that his has a carbon Z tune hood and the Nur-spec (Kozo Hoshino Initial D style) front bumper or something like the S-tune's. Not only would it be because of their cars, but we could say that they somewhat share the similar fate in street racing too. (he started out as a high school student when he began racing. The only difference is that he started on the touge)

Maybe you can think of his GT-R's spec? and did he just some random character or does he had something to do with Daiki as well?

Ah. No wonder you added Seiji in there. This is a spoiler but I'd want you to know that Daiki forgave Seiji on that part on their final bout/battle. Let's just say that even if those two are in good terms already, Seiji still won't forgive Daiki over that first loss... as a person, he's in good terms with him. As a wangan racer, his pride gets the best of him and still considers him as his prime rival.

To give you an idea on Tomo's car... (note, this is in your timeline now. My latest long-reigning series is on the same timeline as yours)
his car is a [in full name] Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 V-spec II Nur [BNR34] 2002. It is given to him by the king of Myogi, as a spec I model of the same year. The color is the same as Sora's. Bay side Blue. Originally, his R34 is built for Touge. But now that he has quit the team at the ending of my Z series (before I get to my still-in-planning V series), his GT-R is now a well rounded monster. Horsepower varies depending on the race type with the lowest on the 450 hp range but the tuning is done by the international Team Japan's top mechanic, Tetsuya Kudou (the mechanic of the story). That's the sad part... with Tetsuya out of the picture, he can't detune or upgrade his car on his own. He consults with Scuderia D's (another team in my story) team leader on tuning, Takeshi Musashiro.

As for Tomo as a person...
He's not a random character. He's the original protagonist of my entire series. In Akiyama Chronicles, it is Daiki as the SL-AC revolves only around him. Much like Initial D's extra stage; focusing on Mako & Sayuki not Takumi. Back on topic. He started out young as I have said before, started off with an S14 until that GT-R he now has, and is a well rounded driver/racer, thanks to Daiki.

You know, let me just give his profile to you:

Tomogashi Kitsumoro
AKA Gunma's 34
The lead protagonist of the story. Tomogashi was inspired all about cars at an early age and has developed his interest as the years pass. He knows much about the cars but not much on how the racing industry works. He's willing to learn new stuff. Being a chef-in-training at the same time poses a huge challenge for Tomo as he needs to balance both his racing and culinary career.
He has a great personality, thus entering into good relations with anyone he meets. Note though, he has a slight problem when it comes to his patience as any form of insult, he immediately reacts in a harsh, physical manner just to retain his respect - he thinks of it as saving his own hind from the spread of embarrassing, false or true information.
In terms of driving ability, he started out mediocre; right now, he's a much fully competent driver at such a young age of 19 or 20 participating in the professional league. He's always inspired and motivated to become the best he can be. Currently, aided by the Prince, Daiki Akiyama, whom he once defeated (in Daiki's aspect) back in Japan when they first met.
Like any other typical boy, he has a love interest... a lot of them to be frank (well, since boys can't help falling in love with more than just one girl). He gave up his chances on Natsumi Tanoshiku, and Rikona Shimmitsu back in his highschool days, he maintains his integrity over Sakura Johina, Minami Suzuki, and Kasumi Nadeshiko, with the latter who is the only one reciprocating to him the way he wished to be.

Tomo got into a fight with Daiki when he [Daiki] has revealed his true face as the Prince rank of the mysterious Legendary world team, Royal Blood. Not taking anymore insults against his own principles, he throws the first blow and tells all of them what he thinks of the matter. Thinking that words won't get to, in his reference, the traitor he once looked up to, he battles Daiki and won hands down. He made his own resignation and disbanded from the group. He temporarily joined along with Adriana Eizaguirre, the Argentina Queen - also a member of Royal Blood who self-disowned her past as the Queen, and some of the local aces of Oahu Island, Hawaii; including Minami's group. After a resolution made with the Queen, Tomo along with Kasumi (who disbanded from team Japan later on), Minami, Kaede (his childhood friend and currently best friends with Minami's brother Ryan), and Ryan went home to Japan. Disbanding from the group didn't prevent Tomo from excelling in his driving. He self trained himself when he had the chance whether it be Touge or Wangan. Currently, he's driving more on the Wangan to maintain that balance between the two.

and yes, he had something to do with Daiki as well. In Volume 14 of my comics, word has spread of Tomo's advancement with a 3-ace team that he & his friends made which caught the eyes and ears of mostly all racers, amateur and pro; including Daiki. They had a match which ended in a tie. It was a 3 way match.

• Downhill in Akagi pass - 4:30 p.m. - Tied against daiki's NSX
• Hillclimb at Tsuchisaka pass - 8:00 p.m. - Lost against Daiki's S2000 GT spec
• Wangan around C1 inner loop - Morning - Won against Daiki's 350Z by chance.

End result? Tie. But Daiki considered it a loss. He recruited him afterwards to a Pro league, which goes all the way from National to representing Japan in the International league. (Sadly, he wasn't given much of a chance to race in any pro events which bothered him until he couldn't take it anymore at Hawaii. They have been to Italy, USA, Canada, Argentina, and Hawaii fyi.)

Wow, seeing him makes me want to step forward to the final battle they're going to have... too bad I still had a lot of progress to make before I can face them together for final conclusion...

BTW, what happened to Chloe? Did she dumped Daiki on 2008?

Chloe? Oh that... I don't want to spoil that one. It is a very ensured and unexpected scenario for Chloe. Once I reach that update (which is not too far from the latest one) you'll know for sure...

This is so true. And the spoiler is a good read. I just want to see how you could make their destined meeting when that point comes. Don't spoil it for me, though. I want to see it soon.

As for Daiki, concerning his 350Z. His standard horsepower is only 600 flat to a highest of 640 btw. He only goes past that 'threshold' when things get serious: examples (which are spoilers) are his final battle against Seiji (who had his Evo Maxed with the FQ-400 engine and against the Ghost Legend, Silverblood's 280Z). So imagining that against Sora's high powered R34 Z tune, he has a huge reason to be impressed by Daiki's tuning.

Again, be cool on Chloe's future debut. I trust you that it will ram the living daylights out of our emotions. Even I was 'beaten up' emotionally when I had that in mind. For now, I'll wait for the next RPM update...

oh yeah, are you saying that Tomo's timeline story is around 2008 also? which one is thr first one? is it akiyama chronicles then speed legend infinite s, or is it the other way around?

That's right. Akiyama Chronicles (2004 setting) came in first. Then comes the Speed Legend Prologue (2006), then the R series(2006-2007), then the epilogues (2007) (no info on this on the site. Just the battles and the results), then Speed Legend S (2007-late 2007) and Z(early 2008).

The part where Tomo went home to Japan is still 2008 and is not currently present in the idforums story (not started on that. Still on Z). Speed Legend V would be the finale where Legends meet.

How Daiki reacts to the situation is really fitting to his character. Strong on all aspects but when it comes to Chloe, he's as fragile as glass about her. Just as how he'll react. Nice job, R_E_X. Keep it up. Sure wish that he and sora cross paths outside the racing school.

RPM 15: Dogfight! Sky King against Red Lizard

Sora is already sitting on the class while Steve hasn’t. Rain is pouring hard outside, and there is no sign of him anywhere outside the school.
“Man, where is that dude?” Sora wondered

“Ninomiya, how about you go out front and help Aya do this question” Yue-sensei said

“Ha? I don’t know the answer myself… that question got no key answer, so I wouldn’t know if the answer is correct or incorrect” Sora shrugs, “I already done the short version of it, but it’s way different than Aya’s answer… I got it with 7 as α”

“I see… well, you’re correct. Aya-san, you can thank Ninomiya and get back to your seat” Yue-sensei nods

“Thank God! Thanks, Sora” Aya smiled to him

“No prob” Sora shrugs

“By the way, where is that clown friend of yours?” Yue-sensei asked

“Hm… skipping class, maybe? I don’t know… maybe he jokes too much and he died because his stomach blows up?”

“That’s a good guess” Yue-sensei grins

Suddenly, the door is opened and there is the clown.
“Alright, sorry to keep you guys waiting” Steve said

“And… there he is” Sora points the clown

Steve looks at the whiteboard, full of answers, and he wondered whether he misses something of not.
“Um… did I miss something?” Steve asked

“You did, but you are just in time to receive your punishment” Yue-sensei nodded, “Stand in the hallway”

“Yes, ma’am!” Steve close the door and stands in the hallway

“That idiot never learns” Keith spins his head

Steve opens his mobile phone secretly. He then received a text message from his friend Scott, back from San Francisco. It’s about him and Sora…
“I can't bring him just yet… give me more time, since there is a lot of things we need to do before we move on to US”

Scott also said that he sends something for his GT2 few days ago, and it should arrive by now. Scott also said something else… Carl Winston is spotted on San Francisco.
Steve is very surprised when he reads the message. He replied the text, but he also wondered in the same time. If it wasn’t for his request, maybe he would just go alone to US without Sora to settle the score. Nevertheless, he already promised to take Sora along to US, and he can't break his promise. But who is Carl Winston? What is his connection with Steve?
On the second class hour, Melissa-sensei will teach about English language. Steve enters the class to join the lesson also. Sora grins as he stares at his stupid friend sits on his chair.
“What?” Steve asked

“Nothing…” Sora grins

Claire on the other hand greets him with cold look on her eyes. Steve feels it and he feels chill running through his body. Maybe this is what Sora grinned about.
“What’s this all about?” Steve asked, “Is she mad with me or anything?”

“Hm?” Sora listens to his friend, “What?”

“You grin earlier… does you know that Claire is mad?” Steve asked again

“Did she? I don’t know… I grin because you are late for the class, while I'm not”

“Ah, great…” Steve slaps his own forehead, “I just need to play it cool and this will be all over before I knew it”

At the lunch break, Steve and Sora as usual buys some stuff to be eaten. When they are about to look for a place to sit, they couldn’t find any.
“Haah… it’s always full when it’s raining outside like this” Sora looks around

Aya and Claire sits together, and they still had two chairs left. Sora and Steve approaches them to ask about whether they can sit together or not.
“Um, excuse me… can we sit here?” Sora asked

“Sure… only you can” Claire said

“What about me?” Steve smirked

“I don’t know… maybe you can sit someplace else” Claire said a bit annoyed

“Ah, if Steve can't sit here, then I guess I wouldn’t sit here either” Sora shrugs, “Thanks for your kindness”

The thing is, Steve already gone when Sora talked to the girls.
“I’ll just eat it on the class” Steve said

Aya and Claire are arguing about what she just did to Sora and Steve.
“What was that all about?” Aya asked

“I just don’t like him” Claire said, “That’s all”

“What? You’re the one who’s decided to chase the guy” Aya smiled, “What’s wrong?”

“That guy makes me look stupid in front of Sora and you” Claire said, “That’s why, I don’t like him anymore”

“Oh, that” Aya said, “I should’ve known”

While Steve and Sora sits on the class, they also talked about what happened on the cafeteria earlier.
“What’s with that girl, geez” Steve said

“I don’t know… monthly period?” Sora guessed

“You know what, I'm starting to get tired of this shit” Steve grins, “I want to go back to America and stay there”

“Yeah? You know, there is no smoke without fire… something must’ve happened between you two” Sora said, “What is it?”

“Maybe it has something to do with the other day…”

“What do you said to her?”

“I said that if she hasn’t taken by someone, I would like to know her more” Steve said, “That’s all”

“Hm… and she just said that she lied to us that she already got a boyfriend. There’s a connection here”

“What connection?” Steve asked

“Well… looks like she had a feeling for you also” Sora nodded

“Nah, I don’t think so” Steve said, “Besides, what I said to her the other day is a joke”

“Hm… maybe the problem is that; you joke too much” Sora grins

“I don’t know, I just like to joke”

“Yeah, and something that’s too much is unhealthy” Sora said

“Ah here we go again… no need for lecture” Steve replied

“Okay… I'm just trying to help”

“Don’t worry, I don’t need it” Steve said again

“Okay…”

Aya and Claire then enter the class. The two of them had something to talk to Sora and Steve, so after the two of them are done eating, they went to the stairway to talk more.
“What is it?” Sora asked

“Well… Claire wants to ask Steve a question regarding what he said few days ago” Aya said

“What’s this?” Steve asked, “Is this some sort of interrogation?”

“Just listen”

“I want to know… did you mean what you said the other day, about if I'm not taken by someone, you would like to know me better?” Claire asked

“No… it’s a joke” Steve nodded, “Didn’t you notice that I'm only joking?”

PLAK!

“What…?”

“Oh no” Aya said

Steve got a slap on his face. Claire looks very mad about what he said being a joke.
“Wha… what’s that for?” Steve asked

“Dude, calm down”

“The hell I'm calm down… I'm outta here” Steve said

“Don’t walk out on me!” Claire said

“You’re not my girlfriend or my sister… Why would I listen to you?” Steve asked, “You’re no one… we just became friends for few days, and you think you know me? I'm not a book that you can read easily”

“Did you meant what you said, Steve?” Aya asked

“I told you; it’s a joke” Steve replied

“Ah… too much of a joke” Aya said, “Claire already gathers her courage to say that she’s lying about having a boyfriend so she could get to know you”

“I don’t need this right now… I got a lot of problem on my own, and I don’t need more of them” Steve walked away

“Sorry, I’ll talk to him” Sora bows to them

“Yeah, make sure you talk to him and tell him to apologize” Aya said

Claire starts to look pale and her eyes started to get wet.
“Your friend got a nerve to say it’s just a joke” Aya added, “A girl’s feeling is not a toy or a joke”

“Maybe he’s still traumatized because he just got dumped”

“Got dumped? Don’t you have another excuse than that?” Aya asked

Sora starts to lose his temper. He never was a short-tempered guy, but even he has his own limit.
“It’s not an excuse… being dumped is really hurt” Sora said, “Do you girls know what it feels like to be dumped? If you don’t, then don’t talk as if you know everything”

Sora left the two of them alone, so he wouldn’t snap further. He immediately enters the class and sit on his chair. He didn’t know that Steve packs his stuff, ready to leave early.
“Where are you going?” Sora asked

“I'm outta here” Steve answered, “I suppose that those two girls ask you to talk to me about that again”

“Yeah, more or less… it’s because you joke too much” Sora said, “You should think of someone else’s feeling before you make a joke”

“The problem is, did they know me?” Steve asked back

“You know, for a girl to say that, it needs a lot of courage. And you just said that courage is only for a joke… can't say I'm surprised she got mad at ya… you shouldn’t joke too much”

“Ah, I don’t need your lecture” Steve replied, “Now you’re picking sides?”

“I'm not… I'm just saying it’s bad to make too much of a joke”

“I'm not listening to you”

When he’s ready to leave, Sora then said something to him.
“You’re running away from a problem?”

“Whatever” he said

“You can run forever from problem, but you can’t hide from it. It will keep on building up and growing, until it’ll hit you and maybe kill you”

“Yeah, whatever” Steve said

“Listen for once, damn it!” Sora stands up from his chair, “She made a fool out of herself, when she says it to us last night”

When Sora stands up, all of the attentions are diverted to him and Steve. Steve then walked out of the class, making Sora following him to outside of the school.
“Hey!” Sora yelled

“What?!” Steve yelled back

“Put yourself in her shoes! Stop being a spoiled kid, damn it” Sora yelled

“Hey, I had enough on my own shoes” Steve replied, “Don’t you think I got my own problems, huh? Imagine yourself living behind bars! You’ll be dead! I should’ve died back there, and I'm here, still alive! I need to know why!”

“Then stop making troubles! Stop joking around, and stop hurting other people’s feeling!”

The rain pours harder, the wind starts to blow strong, and the thunders lighting up the skies. Looks like his anger and his feelings are drawn by the skies above him.
“Why should I bother listening to you?” Steve asked, “I should’ve go back home right now”

“Use your brain… you have one, right? Think about what I just said… no one would like to befriend you if you still like that” Sora replied

“Now you know a bit more about my past” Steve nodded

“I don’t want to know your past or your problem. Leave it aside, and focus on this one” Sora sighed, “What’s there is there, what’s here is here… and you are here, not there”

Sora left his friend to think on the field alone with the rain as he went to the infirmary to get a dry towel. Aya feels bad about what happened to him and Steve. Because of Claire and her, he got into an argument with his friend.
“What’s he doing?” Gonsuke asked

“I don’t know… some problem with Steve, perhaps?” Hikaru shrugs, “Let’s just stay out of it”

“Will he be okay? I mean, he’s wet and he might catch a cold” Aya said

“Don’t worry… he won't go down that easily because of cold” Souya grins

Sora is back to the class and his hair is covering most of his face. This always happened when his hair got wet or when he didn’t brush it to the right side like always. He is a bit mad about what happened earlier and he doesn’t want to talk anything about it. Melissa-sensei continued the lecture and everyone sits on their chairs.
“I'm sorry about before” Aya whispered to him, “Because of me and Claire, you are having a fight with your friend”

“Don’t be” Sora replied flatly, “Look, I don’t want to talk about it anymore. Just be quiet and forget it”

After the school is done, Sora is walking to home on his own. The wind starts to get very chilly and strong… usually he walks together with all of his friend, but today, since he is different than his usual self, he prefers walk alone.
“Sora!” Aya said from behind him

“Now what?” he thought

“Can I walk home with you? It’s on the way, right?” she asked

“Sure… just don’t talk about Steve and what happened earlier, alright?”

“Agreed” she nodded few times, “Let’s walk on… eh? It’s snowing”

“Hm?” Sora looked up into the sky

The winter is here and the snow marks it. No wonder the wins started to get chilly and strong.
“Do you bring an umbrella with you?” Aya asked

“No… my Nissan umbrella is missing, thanks to that idiot Steve” Sora shrugs, “Not to matter, anyways, I’ll get the new one right away”

“Maybe I still kept it in my house” she nods, “Let’s walk first to my place”

“Oh yeah… I forgot that you have my umbrella because that idiot dropped in front of the school” Sora said

“Yeah, and I forget to return it to you…” Aya replied

The two reached Aya’s house not long after. Claire isn’t home yet, since she went right away to Kojiro’s place to continue the tuning for her 380RS. Besides, it’s better for her to do that, to ease her mind off Steve and his so called joke.
“Since you’re here, care for a cup of tea?” Aya asked, “Come on in”

“Yeah, that’ll be great” Sora nodded, “Thanks”

Meanwhile on Kojiro’s place Steve is putting on a custom made body kit that Scott sends to him. It’s something that Scott found on Speed Hunter, which is a body kit for the next Need for Speed game; the Undercover. Since the game will be using the GT2 as the main hero’s car, Scott replicate the body kit and fabricate it using carbon fiber. That should make Steve stands out from his friends. He uses a customer’s car for the base of the fabrication, so the finished product will fit the real GT2.
“Okay… this will do, Kojiro” Steve nodded, “Thank you”

“Your friend sure is great… did he said that he fabricate this from pictures alone?” Kojiro asked

“Yes it is” Steve replied, “He is good guy and he always help me”

Claire is also there. She is still a bit mad about what happened, and when Steve saw her, what Sora said to him at the school really bugs him and makes him think.
“Use your brain… you have one, right? Think about what I just said… no one would like to befriend you if you still like that” Sora said

He then approaches Claire and strikers a conversation about what he said few days ago, and he apologize for what he said. He didn’t deny anymore that he wants to know more about Claire.

Back to Sora and Aya, Sora is entering the house and sits on the chair.
“Uh, are you kidding me? Please look around the house, but don’t touch anything personal, okay?” Aya said

She gave the green light, so Sora intends to explore the house more. Inside, her house is even bigger. There is a second floor, which are her room and Claire’s probably. Two more rooms can be seen near the living room. The LCD TV on her living room is astounding… there is even home stereo for entertainment, PS3, XBOX 360, and blu-ray DVD reader… so complete! The kitchen is just ahead of living room, and so did the dining room. There are two bathrooms… one upstairs, and one downstairs.

Woman’s house is very neat and tidy; Aya completely showed it with hers. White walls and white tiles are indeed feels soft and clean. She also had a collection of car magazines, but she places it and arranges it well… This house is very simple yet purposeful.
“What do you think?” she asked from the kitchen, “Over here, Sora”

She baked butter cookies from the oven and pours him a cup of sweet black tea. She then sits in front of him and eats some of the cookies.
“How is it?” she asked

“It taste good” Sora nods, “You’re good”

“Hm, thanks… not many people like to say things honestly” Aya smiled, “Eat as much as you like”

“Thank you…”

“Well, I’d better change my clothes now” she said as she went upstairs

“Your room is upstairs?”

“Yeah” she said from upstairs, “Wait a minute, I want to show something to you… just hold on a moment”

Sora ate all of the cookies and sips his tea. After he’s done, Aya showed up with her usual getup… yeah; jeans, t-shirt, and leather jacket. Sora puts the plate and cups at the kitchen sink, so she can wash it later.
“Over here… follow me” she said

Sora followed her to her room and when Sora enters it, he couldn’t believe what he saw… a lot of air soft guns are on lighting display cabinet… this girl amazes him even more.
“Wow… M4A1 with extra cartridges, M93R, MP5A5 with flash light, P229 with laser sight and suppressor, Glock 18 with metal slide” Sora said, “And… my Metal Gear Solid favorite- MK23! It even has laser sight and suppressor”

“You know you’re thing” Aya said, “Want to try the MK23?”

“Can I?”

“Sure… here you go” she hands it over to him

Sora gets out the clip and it’s fully loaded with BB bullets. He pulls the slide a bit to see the inside of the gun… the barrel is made with solid metal, and so did the slide itself. He unlocks the safety, and takes an aim with the laser sight.
“Wow… this is cool” Sora said as he returns it to her, “Thank you”

“I thought you want to try and fire it” Aya raised her eyebrow

“Nah… this is your room, and I think it’s inappropriate for me to do that” Sora said

Sora blushed when Aya takes back her gun… she is very beautiful when you look at her closely, not to mention her big boobs and white smooth skin… Aya puts the gun back on the display cabinet, while Sora gets out from the room and waits in the living room.
“So, where are you going next?” she asked

“Maybe I’ll go to Kojiro’s place to get new set of tires before I go to Omori and get monthly checkups for Aoi” Sora nods, “Want to come along? I’ll give you a ride as thanks for those cookies and tea”

“I’ll gladly accept the offer” she said, “Let’s share an umbrella to your house”

Sora nodded and walked to the front door and Aya followed. She takes the Nissan umbrella and shares it with him on the way to his house. This is her first time to go to his house, and she is interested to know what kind of house it is… is it dirty, just like typical boys house?
“This is my house” Sora said, “Feel free to look around”

“Sure… this house is as tidy as mine” she said, “You hire a maid to clean it?”

“No… I haven’t cleaned it for sometime now. Since I'm the only one who’s living here, it doesn’t get dirty quickly” Sora said, “I'm going to change my clothes, so please wait a minute”

Not much to see except his XBOX 360 with flat screen TV. There is only one bathroom and two rooms in his house, contrast to her house. There is a living room, a kitchen, and small dining room. Beside the house is a garage, where he kept his blue Z-tune.
“Not much to see in my house, yeah? Here you go… catch” Sora threw off his car key to her, “You can see her beside the house. You can heat up the engine, if you like”

Aya runs immediately to the garage. Inside the garage is a clean place, filled with tool boxes and tool cabinets. The blue car sits silently, as if it’s sitting on a throne. She quickly opens the door and sits on the driver seat as she ignites the engine. Once again, the engine comes to life with its low rumble sound.
“Hm… I wish I could have you” she said as she caresses the dashboard, “I will take care of you, like I take good care of my own body”

“Okay…”

Aya is startled. Sora showed up at the garage as he locks the door. He wears Nismo tee with Nismo sweatshirt, black jeans, and his trademark red-blue-white Spalding shoes… let’s hope he didn’t hear what she just said to the car.
“Let’s go…” Sora opens the garage door, to let Aya drives it out

She moves it outside and after Sora locks down the fence, Sora intended to sit on the passenger seat, when he saw Aya already occupied it.
“I thought that you wanted to drive it?” Sora asked

“Can I? This is great!” she said as she moves over to the driver seat

After the two of them wears the harnesses, they are ready to go.
“All set? Let’s go” Aya said as she drives the car slowly

Few minutes later, the two arrived to Kojiro’s place. Aya gets off after she parked the GT-R at the service elevator. She then went to employee’s locker to get changed.
“Kou… I'm here to get new set of tires” Sora said, “After that, I'm going to go to Omori for monthly checkups”

“I see” Kojiro said, “Well, let’s get it changed, men”

Few mechanics showed up with new set of fresh RE01 tires. After the four tires are taken off, the rims are separated from the old tires and installed to the new set of tires. When they are about to inflate it with nitrogen, Sora declined it and tells them to use normal air instead.
“This should do” Kojiro said

“How much?”

“This one is on the house…”

“What? Why?”

“Just take it as a gift for your new journey as the Sky King” he said

“Wow… thanks, Kou. Well, I’d better go now”

Steve saw Sora and Sora saw him also. Sora got nothing to say to him, but Steve had something in his mind.
“Sora! Run battle from Edobashi to Daikoku!” Steve said

Everyone is very surprised when Steve said that. From normal customers, to Souya who is happened in there, along with Hikaru, and Gonsuke couldn’t believe what they just heard.
“You are calling me out for a race?” Sora asked as he steps out of his blue car, “You got nerve, Blackburn”

When Sora steps out of his car, the tension suddenly got higher. Everyone is afraid that the two of them would brawl here.
“What? Chickened out?” Steve asked

“Okay… since the snow is already here, I’ll give you a call later after Aoi is finished” Sora nodded, “Get something to replace your fan belt later, cause you’re gonna need it”

“No I won't” Steve replied

“Yes you will” Sora said back, “I will not hold anything back, Blackburn”

His eyes flashes and the gust suddenly blow hard, hitting everyone around with cold, snowy wind. When the gust disappears, all of the people around got to see what they couldn’t see before. Blue aura around Sora, forming the black knight riding bone dragon with lots of wings and feathers. Everyone clearly see the beast aura, floating beside Sora. The knight points the black huge blade to Steve’s throat. The eyes of the dragon and the black knight are shining gold, completely spreads the intimidating aura to everyone around.
“The Sky King” Aya said

“Eh?” Kojiro looks surprised

“You said it yourself; as long as I have Aoi, I won't lose to anybody… including you”

“Yeah, and I will prove myself wrong” Steve nodded

“I am the Sky King” Sora grins wickedly, “Before me, you will tremble”

Sora spreads out his hands widely. The bone dragon flaps every wing it has, spreading the feathers around the place, as the knight howls to the sky, before it finally disperse to the air.
“I’ll see you later, then” Sora nodded and gets into his car

When Sora drives off from the garage, everyone starts to wonder what is that they just saw.
“What was that? It even howls!” Souya said

“It must be his battling aura… some people with great skill got some mysterious quality around them” Aya explained, “Aoi even added it up even more; a combination of honed skills and the powerful car will only made it dangerous for everyone who’s challenging him”

“What we just saw is the real Sky King!” said one of the customers, “He’s young, but he’s great!”

“Got that right!” another customer added, “Let’s all witness the battle of this magnificent young king”

Steve grins. I don’t know what he has in mind, but it looks like he wanted to battle him with all of his might, as if he wanted some sort of proof of his prowess. Sora on the other hand couldn’t possibly understand what his friend just did, but nevertheless, he will battle him anyways.

Two hours later, Sora is done with the checkups. The factory changes every fluid on the car, to anticipate low temperature racing condition. From engine oil, brake fluids, radiator fluids, and even gearbox oil; all of them are replaced by Nismo.
Few minutes after he’s done, Steve called… As expected of him, he called him just in time.
“Ready, Sky King?” Steve asked, “I’ll be waiting at Edobashi with everyone here”

“Sure… the road starts to get slippery, so let’s make it our last battle on Shutokou” Sora nodded, “I hope you didn’t invite all of team members…”

“Oh but I did” Steve replied, “You see, I want them to witness also that you will bow down to my GT2”

“I see… we’ll see about that, though” Sora said, “You’ll see that people didn’t call me Sky King for nothing”

A lot of people are waiting at Edobashi junction. From Need for Speed to HSSR, are already waiting for this heated battle on the chilly winter. Local street racers around are also coming to see the battle with their own eyes, not to mention some of them are standing by at the route around C1, right to Daikoku-Futo area. Sora hasn’t showed up and he made everyone waits for him.
“The star of the show isn’t here yet” Steve leaned his back on his GT2

“You sure want to do this? There is no turning back, Steve” Hikaru said

“Don’t worry… I never intended to lose to him” Steve nodded

“Good luck for both of you, then” Keith said to him

“Thanks… his winning streak is over today” Steve smiled

Then there he is- the star of the show making a grand entrance. He speeds up to the parking lot, cutting through the chilly wind with his blue car. He parks right beside the GT2 and steps out of the car. It’s already six P.M. and they are ready for the battle. Sora specially went back home to get his eagle jacket and talon jeans.
“Ha… show off” Steve said

“I wanted to make this battle memorable” Sora shrugs, “This is the last battle on Shutokou for now, anyways. Look who is talking? You ask me out for a battle, creating all of this hype for everyone around”

“Let’s just say that I want to prove something… no, I want to prove that your car is just like normal GT-R” Steve replied

“Okay… from here to Daikoku, right? And the leader pinpoints the route, since this s run battle” Sora nodded, “Bring any pantyhose to replace your fan belt?”

“I don’t need any of it” Steve grins, “Just shut up and get into your car”

Sora smiled and get into his car. He is ready to go and defeat his friend.
“Good luck to both of you… and please don’t push yourselves too much” Gonsuke said, “Ready? Three… two… one… GO!!!!”

Gonsuke waves both of his hands and off Sora and Steve. Even though Steve’s GT2 had launch control, it doesn’t help much on the slippery surface.
“Ah… slippery” Steve said

Sora passes him easily and takes the lead. Just like Steve predicted, he wouldn’t take C1 direction, but instead went all the way to Wangan line via Tatsumi.
“Just like I expected” Steve grins, “You are so predictable”

Sora continued to speed up, even on the slippery condition. He’s running on brand new set of tires, and he has ATTESA E-TS Pro with him to handle the slippery condition. Steve got something on his mind, though… he didn’t intend to lose. He speeds up and followed Sora right on his tail.
“Hahaha! How’s that Sora?!” he said as he drafted behind him

“…”

Sora moves away to the side, and Steve almost hits the traffic car in front of him. He brakes hard and shifted down, decreasing his pace so he wouldn’t hit the car.
“Shit!” Steve said

“…”

The battle continues, and being second is not an option for Steve. He gives it another go once again. Both of them are now at Tokyo Port tunnel.
“Your GT-R will die here, Sora!”

Steve overtakes his friend and keeps on increasing his pace.
“Hahahahaha” he laughs

“Look in front” Sora smirked

Ohi toll gate is up ahead, so Steve and Sora needs to pay the fare before they could continue. But it’s a major breakdown of speed for Steve, especially when he starts to leading in the front.
“Come on!” Steve said

“…”

Sora pays the fare firsthand, leaving Steve stuck on the gate. After Steve pays his fare, he steps on the throttle and starts to close the gap with his friend.
“Haneda, Haneda” Steve grins

“…”

Sora continued to jet forward at 250 KM/H and both of them will reach Wangan area soon. Just after they cruise pasts Haneda, it’s Tamegawa tunnel that divides Tokyo and Kanagawa area.
“Wangan line” Steve said as he shifted to 6th gear

“Come on” Sora nodded

Steve gets to the side of the blue Z-tune as the two of them continued to jet forward on the center lane.
“Everything is good!” Steve grins, “You’ll lose”

“…”

Dogfight is inevitable. It becomes pure horsepower fight between the two of those cars… it’s now leaves to just one question; whose car will stand and continued to run, along with its driver? The GT2 continued to jet forward, reaching 360 KM/H and gradually leaves Sora in the back. Daikoku is just few hundred meters away from them.
“Hahahahaha” Steve laughs

“Hm… think again” Sora said

BLAM!

“What?!”

Steve saw his rearview mirror and found Sora is not on his back. Sora is back on his front and his car starts to producing smokes out from the engine bay.
“I’ve failed… just to defeat the Sky King, I sacrifice my own car” Steve hits his steering wheel, “Now I know what is wrong with me…”

Steve halts his car on the side of the road and turns his hazard lights on. Sora stops his car just few meters away and steps out of it, approaching his friend to see what’s going on.
“…”

“I lost” Steve said

“…”

“You still angry?” Steve asked

Sora didn’t answer. Instead, he gets out his mobile phone and called Kojiro.
“Kou… the stupid fool blows his head gasket this time” Sora said, “Can you please get the GT2 with tow truck? Just before Daikoku-Futo”

After he hangs up the phone, he puts it back on his pocket.
“Now you see? You cause your own demise and despair” Sora said, “All of this publicity and hype, but you’re the one who loses the battle”

“…”

“That’s my part of help for you” Sora said, “The rest is up to you”

“Sora… I wanted to apologize” Steve replied

“Sure don’t want to hear it” Sora shrugs, “See you back at school”

Sora clearly is the winner. He didn’t needlessly push his car, and that is what Steve lacks; a heart to properly communicate with his car, causing it to blow up and loses. His car didn’t lose to Sora, but he’s the one who lose.
“Hikaru, it’s me… tell the others, the battle is canceled- Steve blows up his head gasket” Sora said

“Then you clearly is the winner” Hikaru replied

“Is it?”

Sora hangs up the phone and went to Daikoku-Futo to make a u-turn. When he enters the car park, however, a lot of people cheering for him and welcoming him as the winner. So did with Aya and Claire, who is waiting for the racers to enter the parking area. But instead of stopping, Sora went ahead and leaves the parking area. He didn’t want to enjoy the winning by making his friend looks bad. He exited the parking area, leaving most of the people with question on their minds and strong gust of wind behind him.

Sora is back on his house. After he parks the car and locks the garage, Sora got a visit from familiar person in his R35… it’s Bernard.
“You sure making fuzz with your title” he said

“How do you do?” Sora bows

“I'm fine, thank you… I just swing by to tell you that the next race is coming this Sunday” he said, “I'm expecting you to come at Suzuka Circuit”

“Okay… I’ll show up on Saturday”

We skipped forward to Sunday, which is the race day. The race is almost over and Sora is still leading in the front. Just few more meters, he secured the second pole points for this race. The guys on pit area couldn’t wait for him to cross the white and black stripped line. Steve, Claire, and even Aya are waiting for his victory over the other teams in this second race. They insisted to come along, so Sora ask Bernard to let them enters the pit area as VIP guest. For Aya and Claire, who drives a Nissan car, Bernard approves immediately, but for Steve who drives a Porsche? He had to think twice before Sora could convince him (the reason is because Porsche also competes here for the championship).
“Come on, Sora… just a few more meters” Steve thought

“We’re almost done with the race and Sora is still leading in front of other teams” Hideo said

“Yes, after the crash happened at lap 25, caused by Toyota who rammed to team Honda, the race is having a major breakdown” Kenichi added, “Subaru, BMW, and Mitsubishi are thrown off the competition because of the crash”

“Sora is barely making it out of the crash himself” Hideo continued, “But with his ability, he manages to get away, but his GT-R pays the price. He’s having difficulties now to defend the first position”

This race isn’t looking too brightly for Sora since his car is damaged. Even though he manages to hold onto the first position, he struggles to fend off his entire competitor on his back so they couldn’t pass him. Team Honda had an engine failure, when suddenly team Toyota crashed into the rear bumper of team Honda’s NSX at over 100 KM/H. The crash itself takes on toll to several other teams like Subaru, BMW, and even Mitsubishi. Sora manages to get away from the crash area, but his rear suspension is damaged because of the debris from the crash.
“Come on… come on!” Bernard said

“Almost there” Claire grits her teeth

“He’s around the Casio triangle!” Aya yelled, “He’s going to make it!”

Sora speeds out of the triangle and cross the finish line, followed by team Mazda on the second position. Even though it’s hard as hell, he does make it through.
“Congratulation, Sora…” Bernard said, “What’s wrong? Why are you stopping?”

“Can you guys please get the tow truck or something, I guess the suspension are finished, and it makes the left rear rim to rubs the wheel arch”

“Will do” Bernard nodded, “Hey, get the guy out of there”

“Let’s go” said one of the mechanics

And there it is… the race is over with Sora as the winner once again. This time luck sided with him, so let’s hope there won't be another accident on the next race.
“Congratulation, man” Steve said

“How does it feel?” Claire asked

“Phew…” Sora said as he takes off his helmet, “It’s not easy thanks to the debris, but I managed to do just fine… I guess”

“You better get upstairs and get your trophy… we’ll wait for you here” Aya said

“Okay… see you guys later”

Few hours later, he’s done with the publicity stuffs and all of them went back home.
