QUOTE (StraightAwayZ @ Yesterday, 5:38 PM) | I think you should keep one 240z tail light and one 280z tail light. Im a bit envious of you, you get the sexy set up for the brake lights when you convert to the 240z lights because of how your wiring is. 240s use the upper and lower outer bulbs for the brakes/turn signal, and the upper two for the running. Not like the euro/jdm/how yours will be where it uses the upper two for the running/brakes and the lower for the turn signals. |
Prepare to be more envious. I got the 240z lights for free cause I sandblasted a few parts for my buddy. Great condition, except I had to disassemble them to clean the lenses and the chrome plastic divider strips in the center were dryrotted to hell. I had to remake them out of fiberglass filler. Came out pretty well so far. I'm just doing these little stupid projects while my engine block is at the machinist. Can't do much else, might as well be productive and do what I can. [ Post merged on Jun 14 2010, 08:02 AM ] And don't think I forgot the front, either.

Its been a while, but I'm also pretty destitute. Just about everything I've done recently (which also amount to next to nothing) has been what I can get done for free. As she sits right now, in the process of rerunning wires. Cobwebs are not visible, but have formed on every corner of the car. And an early model dash, ready for my Frankenstein experiments in restoration. Glove box is old tired and moldy. I'm going to disassemble it to copy the pattern (its made of cardboard) and remake it out of fiberglass. My parts were finally released from machine shop jail. Overly expensive even when the owner cut me a deal on the price, which was still over what was originally quoted. Blame my rods for being egg-shaped and a slight warp in the front left corner of the block... Oh, and then a challenger appeared. Don't know what exactly I'm going to do with it yet, or when. At least it was free...

QUOTE (StraightAwayZ @ 1 hour, 42 minutes ago) | So what size tires are you sporting on those rims anyways? I noticed you manged to tuck those things under the flares WITHOUT cutting the factory fenders? Do you have any rubbing issues when turning HARD? What springs/sways are you using?
I got a set of free rs3s for some 17" wheels, so ill probably go with the rota rbrs myself now off of hz, too good a price to pass up. Im worried about them rubbing like crazy when i manage to get my car onto the track. |
Don't track that Z without massaging the fenders. Mine STILL rub, even after using a rolling tool. Still need to cut them. But they only rub during very aggressive cornering or large bumps, most of which I don't notice until after I inspect the small gouges in the tires, which is disconcerting... Using factory sway bars and Eibach springs with Tokico blue shocks.
I'll EVENTUALLY graduate to coilovers, its just not in the budget/time constraints right now.
