Double, triple, quad, etc. posts just end up becoming one post in all. When you post once, and then again, it'll just merge those posts together so you won't get busted for double/triple (you get the point).

Obviously.

I can see the point with this (or at least a point), though when I tried today to put up my story (all of it), I found out about A - the posts merging and B - either I can't see or there's a limit to just how many words as right now, I can't put all of it up at once sad.gif, at least not right now.

My 2 cents on this.

This is true, post limits have to be larger to accomodate post merging

I am not sure if I understand what you mean. But post limit is 1,048,576 characters. That is 1MB of text !! Unless I am misunderstanding, I think the post limit is fine where it is right now.

Bumped image limit to 50 images per post. Thanks for reminding me that. It was at 20. I think 50 images per post should accommodate most situations. Just let me know if there is any special circumstance.

@E86, okay, so the post limit is at a million characters but just now when I tried to put the rest of my story up...

I don't know if it's my computer, but the rest of the text isn't showing up that I wanted to post. I thought about editing it and waiting later (As so far I could just wait and it'll show up as a separate post, at least when I last saw it which was a few minutes ago), so I can put up the rest, but I'm leaving it as it is and it'll hopefully show up to everyone else as I've been seeing it.

That being not everything I tried to post showing up.

Don't know what to say, I'll take everyone's words for the limits but I'm seeing something else.

Until later.

Host stories externally...

on a blog or something..

makes things FAR easier than by posting here....

no one will read it here, its just a wall of text to most forummers

Given what's happened as well as what I had initially thought about, yeah, I'll just go with that.

It actually was what I was going to do (just post a link to where it's all up), but then R_E_X suggested that it would be better to just post it here, as according to him it would be too much of an hassle to just look up the link (I thought to myself 'it's just to another page and...it's not so hard...but who am I?) normally I actually think a bit more on something like that, but I decided to just go with it and figure 'what's the worst that could happen?'

I think the answer is right in front of us with the posts merging.
So after thinking about it again, I'll just leave it to posting the link and well, that's that for now.

Later.

O.O

Seems to be a network problem. The time that it happen also seems to be around the maintenance time. I wouldn't too much about it.

It is a daily database backup maintenance script that runs around 3:30am pacific time. All rows will be locked during that time for about a minute. Some of the scripts like post merging might fail for a second. The window of timeframe that you can somehow manage to squeeze in a double post is probably less than 30 seconds. It is possible, but quite unlikely. But it still happened regardless. pinch2.gif

That is 10:30AM GMT. I believe that is 9:30PM in Sydney; 8:30PM in Adelaide; 7:30PM in Perth.

Would there any chance of having a multi quote feature instead of having to rush a post to have it merged automatically?

You can multi-quote. It's just that it takes time and you have to preview your posts a couple times before you actually post.

I'm fully away of doing a multi quote that way. It just takes long, I have to open up extra tabs, copy and paste, add another quote tag...It just makes it easier to respond with the multi quote button. It has been integrated in a couple of the forums I frequent. it's just a suggestion.

Yes, a multi-quote system works quite well. It is a bit tedious for new members though who aren't really aware of how to work things.
