I'll tell you what.
Put on Aero Kit C, 3D GT wing, and a stock hood and then do Aero Kit A, wingless, and carbon ducted, and run Wangan on both and tell me what happens. You don't even have to feel the difference. Just tell which is faster.

I believe my friend has that second set up, I'll ask him to lemme drive his car and compare it with my own. Thanks for the suggestion

Make sure it's the same car, though. No point in testing if it's two different cars.

I believe dressups affect the performance and all, but why would Namco lie about the dressups?

I wouldn't say "lie" because namco actually DO hide things; such as titles. But thats not a necessity in the game nor does it affect performance. Basically what I'm trying to say is, in the start of the this thread, if dress up DID affect performance, then it'd be on the site. And for us, to find out how much of a difference each part offers. So right now, I think it's just bs how people think some certain parts can make your car "heavier" or more "drifty" when it does nothing at all. In reality it may do, but in this game, namco decided not to make them have any affect on your car. The only thing it actually changes is appearance, thats it. (this is from my own opinion)

im with the side that think dress up DOES effect performance. wink2.gif

ive done wingless on my R34 and evo VIII many times, and have switched between stock and wingless many times, along with other parts like hoods, mirrors, and rims. there is a difference in performance. at least imo.

note: not here to flame so dont even try to start a flame war. just simply expressing my opinion. but i agree with shadowsuke, and the whole PRO TAers and their whole theory on the dress up differences.

it does effect your performance especially the rims,

when u are on stock well for my car away, the car felt more stable, and heavier in turning when i got the new rim the car slipped more.

same with aero b and c, B feels more heavier than C, C feels much more lighter.

What happened to it o.0 '' and i havent touched MT2 in ages blink.gif do you play it?

Of course I play it... but I don't play it as much as I used to. There aren't many challenging people to race. Just a bunch of noobs. Too easy to pwn. I haven't even bothered to finish the Hakone Outrun, since Aclass1Level won't get achieved by many people, here.

They sold the MT3 to another arcade.

@K&S<3

C is much lighter?

Try saying that with a R34.

The top experts in my locality (i.e. those who frequently take the top ghost crowns, and those who frequently get the best TA times) all profess to the notion of Dressups affecting performance (why else do they frequently achieve the above feats?).

it doesn't take a pro to realize that it does affects the performance of your car..
coz right now my friend is asking me to DU his z33,, and i feel that it has different feels from mine.. bcoz of difference in DU..
I dunno whether it is a plausebo effect or what...
but I think it does affects the car performance,, esp the acc if you're using aero c in z33.. it feels so slow --''

Just because it's in YOUR area, doesn't mean it affects the entire world...

question to ask is, how much performance do you require?

With people that TA/battle at the very top level, they want to juice every drop of performance from their car....cos a slight performance change will change their TA time, as TAs are recorded at the millisecond level.

Battle, not as much...but kits do affect stability a bit, and does make the car wider, which affects gapping.

For people who just play casually?
They don't need that subtle upgrade in performance.

Personally, setups don't mean much to me, as long as the car is small enough to clear apexes and turns in general, and large enough to block in battle, it is fine.

You can't tell for certain.

I've always been mildly skeptical about this, because why would Namco lie right?

But after all these corresponding opinions and the difference when I changed from TE37s to NT03s, I've changed my mind a bit.

Still not certain for sure, I'll have to get back to you guys when I know my car inside and out in stock form, then start playing around with DU settings.

Hmmm.... I think dressup affects performance to some degree. Only if you are serious TA person where every tiny mililsecond actually means something.....Not all (like stickers and neons.... seriously.. they weigh nothing...) but bodykit/spoiler.. not sure hoods. I jumped from my FD to another and definately noticed a difference. Nothing big... just that mine seemed easier to turn and slid nicely.

Anyway i went for looks and lightness so i guess i noticed the weight difference (and i had no idea about the other setup so just drove like i always do so no placebo there)

Yea only visual difference. They say it looks bigger in width so they crash more often. I drive in 3rd person with blue neons and I don't feel a difference. But that's other people's opinion I guess, I just got used to it. laugh.gif

I personally tried alot of combinations in the past, I didn't feel the slightest difference. People say stickers and neons add weight to your car, but I still beat alot of people in my area in battles with those on. Not only that, I beat my friend who's good in TA using stickers and neons while he went stock ( official machine ). I'm talking about MT3 btw. I just don't know where people get all these crazy ideas from >_>. It may be true in reality, but in this game, Namco chose it not to have any effect.

i have yet to try wingless setup. but as far as i can tell, the rim does affect handling and a bit on acceleration. but that's just me.
