I want to drive an AE86, and see what the hype is about. Ive ridden in a few, but I dont think I can base a judgement off that.

Sorry, I didn't wanna come off as an ass about it or anything. I'm just a fan of variety, like seeing different stuff all the time, ya know?

You can't fully enjoy an AE86 on stock suspension. It's kinda miserable to drive IMO. That's why I have not been driving mine that much recently, despite the nice weather locally.

Then we headed over to a dyno meet..mainly vipers..but I saw a few other gems..

@ Blue-Sensei, those photos you took at the meet was a bit of a mess. What you should have done was capture the essence of the meet.

So include the guys looking at the cars and as well as getting the mystic of the supercars. All you did was show off a car which wasn't that great.



Look at this guy's photos and get an idea on what you need to photograph.

Lol I didn't want to flood it with pics so I just chose the close ups as the ones to upload here...the rest are on my pb..

Also thought people would prefer to see the cars...I went with a buddy because he asked me to tag along and take pics...so I took pics of whatever he wanted me to.. :\ ...(which was close ups...)

Edit: Also I'm not a pro-photographer...(dunno if this matters)

A random black Porche 911 Turbo isn't "Blackbird" until it comes up behind me on the freeway and nearly fishtails into the center median while trying to pass me.

This one is local, I actually know that spot, but have been lazy/unwilling to go shoot in that area (lots of cool spots) due to it not being the greatest part of town.

I like that picture with the skyline. Looks great! Just wish it was wallpaper size.

I had an 86 before I got into Z's. I'm not talking down on the 86, so hopefully no one mistakes what I'm saying... but...

To be honest, I'm much happier in my S30. The 86 was alright, I wouldnt say its worse than any other car, but it's an 80's econobox. It's not a car that I would really call a sports car from the factory. Though, because of it's RWD and weight balance, it has a certain allure and it can make for a pretty fun car.
However, I do think that pound for pound the first gen Z's are more interesting to drive and to look at. I feel th 86 has been overly hyped thanks to Initial D and the drifting scene.

Once again, I'm going to clarify that I have respect for the 86 and I do think it's a good/fun car from a tuning standpoint, but I have no intention of ever getting another one.

That being said, I do still have an open mind on the subject. I'm not a drifter, but I would be interested in driving one that's set up for small technical tracks or autocross. At which time I'd be more than willing to change my opinion if the car impressed me.

Did you have anything done to your AE86?

'Cause as soon as you through a set of coilovers on an 86, it's a whole other ballgame. lmfao

I hate driving them with factory suspension though.

Hey Blue-Sensei, is that shop you were at ISP (Infinitive Speed Performance). If so, Im good buddies with the owner Peter (The blue Supercharged viper, 700whp Turbo S2000 and that Silver Tubbed engine-less FD3S are his cars) and the owner of that white R32 (Its been in that shop for about 6 years, lolol).
